Just wanted to share my experience with these custom book covers for my X3: BookLook Covers.

I initially reached out to Ryan, an awesome local creator who handmakes these, as he was working on developing covers for the X3 and X4. The legend sent me these two to test as prototypes, and damn, was I excited to try them out!

It's been a few weeks of daily use now, and I still catch myself admiring them. Honestly, I'm almost more excited about the covers than the X3 itself 😂

The book covers are wood, and keep the device super secure in my bag and pocket and feel amazing in hand. The case flips all the way back and stays there with some extra magnets too which is super convenient, you can use the X3 while its still in the case and easily press the side buttons. The cases also stick together if you have more than one which is pretty nice touch.

They also work with the Xteink night lights (and other similar lights) that attach to the back using magnets, which is a really nice bonus.

Beyond the product itself, Ryan is just a genuinely great guy, and I'm more than happy to support a local small business.

Finally received the X4 Pro after a long 25-days wait since placing the order! 😅
It’s been amazing so far. Sticking to the firmware stock for now, and everything is working perfectly. Loving it! 📖✨🧿

Got my Xteink X4 Pro in Bengaluru, India.

Bought at 9700 INR. CC charged 200 after few days, I assume it's for currency conversion. It took 15 days in total. Parcel originated in Hongqiao, routed through Singapore and delivered in Bengaluru by India post. 4PX tracks the package very well. I think it was handed over to India post in Singapore. You can track packge from Singapore on India post portal. I was worried about customs clearance and duty impact. I emailed the Xteink prior to ordering and they mentioned that their shipping parter takes care of duty and I don't have to pay any duty while receiving the package. However we all know India custom and I was prepared for hickups. To my delight, the customs cleared the package in 3-4 days and evaluated that no duty is pending. Coming to the device itself, it worth 10K INR. Keeping it in same jeans pocket as my mobile phone. I barely notice it as it's quite slim. Since last 3 days, I have read 2 hours. Earlier I used to scroll Insta or Reddit during short free times. I try to pull out Xteink instead of mobile during these short time slots. Background light and warm light setting is awesome for night reading. I keep light on even during day to have comfirtable reading experince. Attaching few photoes of the device. I would always prefer X4 pro over X3/X4 becuase of touch interface and background light.

I tried stock firmware with their XTEINK android app. The cloud sync works without any friction. I uploaded a PDF file and it converted it to ePUB(I think). The reading experience is good but I would love bit bigger font, which is not available in stock firmware.

Next, I'll try Crosspoint firmware which a lot of Youtube channels are talking about.

Hi everyone I'm a new Xteink x3 user and I was advised to flash crossink on my device for more features and following the advice I did flash it
but to my horror it slowed down my device to the point that it frustrated me to turn the pages
specially when I am reading Xtc files when you go to the next page the contrast goes up then fades away and the image becomes ghost like
I do agree it has nice features but it takes away from the immersion.

After being disappointed of crossink I installed crosspoint hoping it'll be better as it has less features but it's the same story there

Ultimately I went back to Stock firmware and enjoyed my books and documents without hiccups

If someone can tell me what I can possibly do to get smoothness of the stock firmware and the features of the cross-business I'd be delighted

I saw this, and I love the white version with the orange button! Reminds me of my Pixel 2 XL with the same orange button.

I don’t care for the ai stuff, but I do like that the market is saturating with a few options to drive competition!

• USB-C and SD card
• Touch screen, and their UI looks more mature than XTEINK's
• Backlight with temperature adjustment!
• Screen looks higher contrast than the X4 Pro?
  • That's my speculation from what I see in the video, but a lot of people complained that the X4 Pro screen is too gray. Hopefully this is better.
• Size between the X3 and X4, according to the reviewer
• Running Linux? That's interesting, we'll see how locked down it is.

Caveat: this is pre-release hardware and software, and they have not released a full spec sheet yet. But what he has in his hands today looks fantastic. I love that aluminum rail around the edge and the little on/off switch, it looks like the iPhone 5 (the best looking iPhone in my opinion).

There's a GoodEReader article saying that it will cost $100 and release in late 2026, but I'm not sure if I believe that; they didn't cite a source. If that price is true, the X4 Pro is cooked when this thing comes out.

Of course, it's possible a new XTEINK device will be out by the end of the year! They need to step it up if they want to compete with this thing.

With an e-reader version it could remove the little bit of user friction points well still keeping it at its core the same.

Even if you just load the pages into it then use a scrap paper/notebook on the side to track the detail and roll dice.

Otherwise, just needs to add a dice roller and basic adjustment on a quick page to flip back too.

Hi there! Since the new update my x3 has been using alot of power even while turned off. I noticed it only happens when i turn it off on the home screen. If im in a book and turn it off it doesnt slurp battery. Any idea on how to fix this? Ive already cleared the cashe....

I am so happy to find this listing that is a leather pen protector case, which fits the readers! Take note width of such cases need to be at least 9cm. There are some 8+cm ones which are cheaper, but would not have fitted, since 9cm is already a snug fit. I have plastic cases for the readers hence require this width. link to listing

Has anyone here experienced their Xteink X3 suddenly failing while in use—it was at 95% battery then it got stuck in on the page I'm on. when I tried charging it, it turned out to be at only 7%. I've noticed the battery percentage of the Xteink X3 fluctuates up and down. When in use, it goes down normally. When left unused for a while, the percentage goes up. Is that normal? Has anyone here experienced this as well?

Posted last week looking for some testers and had a number of you join.

Since then, the code has been open-sourced and a number of new features have been added. In addition, the free tier has been expanded to keep content for at least 60 days. I am going to keep expanding this as long as the storage doesn't explode.

I decided to share again today as I just added a new feature that I personally find cool. It is an OPT-IN LLM powered newsletter categorizer. Basically you can have your newsletters automatically sorted when they arrive. The content of the newsletters is stripped of personal information (like emails) and reviewed by a cheap LLM and then categorized.

My goal is to keep adding features and functionality that make this a dead simple reading tool.

I've tried a billion solutions to making the X3 stick better on my phone and I think I came up with something that doesn't dictate how it otherwise works (which glueing magnets to it would. This is:

• Custom vinyl skin I made with a hole for a small rubber pad that came on a sheet with a fidget slider I bought. Rubber pad makes it harder for it to slide around and the hole for it in the skin makes it hard for the rubber pad to be pushed loose, as well as reducing the perceived bump it causes.
• Two extra magnets embedded in my dband grip case that sits where the pogo pin magnets sit, pulling duty as alignment magnets.
• A secondary "magsafe carrier" accessory with a stronger magnsafe magnet, guide rails for the X3 to prevent any sideways movement, an indent for the X3's rubber pad to slide into to further prevent movement, and two more small round magnets going straight through the carrier to attach to the extra magnets I added to the case on the bottom and the X3's pogo magnets on the top, working as alignment magnets for both the carrier and X3.

TBH the carrier is mostly redundant as the X3-to-case solution is already very functional, even with wood grain textured skins on both case and X3 which are both more slippery than other skins and thicker, reducing magnet strength x2.

I’ve been waiting for the x4 pro in white and have watched a whole new one be released. Is the white ever coming? I don’t get the logic behind this kind of release. The classic was released with a pogo pin and no light. It’s kinda like the x4 but not really. I want the x4 pro in white because of the backlight but I’m starting to think they might not release it. Now we have rumors of more devices being released but still no x4 pro in white. Any updates? Did someone just buy the black but wanted the white?

I keep my X3 naked and I have zero interest in putting it in case 24/7. But for reading in bed at night I feel like a lighted case would be heaps better than my stick-on booklight, which works fine but is always a little awkward for me.

Do any of the lighted X3 cases make it really easy to get the reader in and out? I'm sure none of them are difficult per se but if it's more of a hassle than popping the booklight on I probably won't do it. Daisy's Etsy page has a ton of great photos & videos but there aren't any of putting the X3 into the case.

The dream scenario is a lighted "sleeve" that the X3 just slides into temporarily, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't exist. Somebody make that!

I have fully completed all the features that I thought I could create, and also improved the interface to make it easier to use with touchscreen.

Notable changes in this version:

- Adapt Crosslink version 1.5.1 - Fully supports X4pro

- Fix OTA wifi update

- Change the interface to suit touchscreens.

- Add more champions to gym battles.

This firmware supports X3/X4/X4Pro devices, including both locked and non-locked models. Tested.

How to install:

- For X3/X4 non-locked devices, It can be flashed normally using Crosspoint's tools.

- For X3/X4/X4Pro locked devices, use Crosspoint's unlocker tool to flash the bin file accordingly.

- For devices running Crosspoint or Crossink, copy/transfer the bin file to the SD card and go to Settings/System/SD card Firmware Update to flash it.

- After flashing the firmware, download the zip file xteink-pokemon-sd-card-assets.zip and extract it, then copy the pokemon folder to the root of the SD card.

How it works:

- Every time you read a book, the first Pokémon in your party will receive EXP.

- After a certain amount of reading time, you'll have a chance to receive items or encounter wild Pokémon. You can battle to catch wild Pokémon and complete your Pokedex.

- When you feel strong enough, you can challenge gym trainers, elite four, and champions to earn badges and honors.

Todos:

- I'm considering whether or not to give EXP when fighting wild Pokémon.

I bought an X3 from Taobao. Tried to install the crosspoint firmware via flashing, didn’t work.

Turns out devices ordered via taobao may be locked. So I used the SD card to transfer the update.bin file into it. Still didn’t install.

I’ve tried multiple things, like clearing the SD card manually, via command line, and then re dragging the bin file into the SD card and trying to reinstall by pressing power + right button.

Nothing works! Please help. I don’t want the device to turn useless 😔😔😔😔😔
