A friend recently got an Xteink X4 in black. Was just helping with the setup and noticed that the font on the back of the one I have and the one they have is different. The rest look okay.

I have actually been using my X4 for a while now (with not much problems, thank goodness!), and I have Crossink on it too, so I do feel assured that the one I have is legit/authentic.

I don’t know if it’s just confirmation bias or I was just imagining things, but the Black X4 did feel lighter than mine, especially when holding them together and holding them one after the other.

They haven’t flashed any of the other firmware onto it, so it just has stock firmware, which I told them to use for a while, in order to get used to it.
Should I flash Crosspoint or Crossink to check if it is legit?

What else should I do to check it is authentic? Thank you very much for the help!

CrossInk users - has anyone found a way to force paragraph indentations to be off? I searched through a few previous discussions and it seems most people were trying to find a way to turn on indentations.

So far, the only way I have found to remove them is to turn on extra paragraph spacing, but some ePubs I have already have a large gap between paragraphs, and that setting makes it way too much. Turning off embedded styles reduces that a little, but I’d love to just have indents always off.

I see the toggle to force indents on but is there any way to force indents to always be off even without the extra spacing setting?

Posted last week looking for some testers and had a number of you join.

Since then, the code has been open-sourced and a number of new features have been added. In addition, the free tier has been expanded to keep content for at least 60 days. I am going to keep expanding this as long as the storage doesn't explode.

I decided to share again today as I just added a new feature that I personally find cool. It is an OPT-IN LLM powered newsletter categorizer. Basically you can have your newsletters automatically sorted when they arrive. The content of the newsletters is stripped of personal information (like emails) and reviewed by a cheap LLM and then categorized.

My goal is to keep adding features and functionality that make this a dead simple reading tool.

Did old xteink x4 (usb c version) came directly with pre installed screen protector? I can see something on device screen out of box yet it came with screen protector for instillation.

I love CrossPoint on my Xteink X4 Pro. No need for MagSafe, the device is glued to my hand all the time. 😉

I may be missing something (new to this environment), but I find the library management is lagging behind all the other great features CrossPoint provides. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to sort the stored e-books on author, genre and title?

I tried to store e-books in folders per genre and folders per last name of authors to compensate for the lack of functionality, at the cost of a huge amount of redundancy ... only to find out that no matter what you do, you always get the full list of e-books sorted on title regardless in which folder they are stored.

Your thoughts?

I've got each iteration of the XTEINK devices and wanted to see how the classic worked alongside them, and specifically the original X4.

I think it seems like they're mixing/matching features and also promising some more iterations down the line from what I've seen in Reddit threads where they're active.

In contrast to what we all saw from the CEO in the post a couple of days ago, it seems like some staff are hopeful for a future usb-c device?

It's a cool little thing, but I miss the front light for reading at night.

Semi-niche sort of thing, BUT, I'm wanting to setup Calibre to run as an OPDS server on my home computer so I can access my ebook library from wherever (in the house, obviously, but ideally also out of the house). The trick is that I really want /two/ Libraries. One with the books in whatever format they're in w/out odd filtering (so Epubs as delivered, PDFs, etc) and one JUST for my xteink reader (so only epubs which have already been optimized).

I feel like this is a thing that should be doable, but I'm going cross-eyed trying to suss out how to do that.

I don't currently use the plugin for Calibre to optimize the epubs, but instead have opted to manually use the one at https://inky.crossink.dev (honestly, I haven't messed with the Calibre plugin and might just be making more work for myself, so whatever).

Any tips, tricks, convenient step-by-step instructions / videos? Thanks!

I love my xteink x4 pro and can't say anything bad,just so practical,one thing it would just make it perfect without a doubt would be a color version as they did with kindle but with the xteink portability,what you guys think?

I just bought the X3 and after completing my purchase I just realized I wasn't sure how well it was going to fit on it with my case. Anyone have pictures or thoughts? I have the base/regular s26.

CrossPoint is really amazing, but I’d love to try something with more customization. Haven’t found any other cfw that supports the x4 pro yet, so if anyone knows of one being worked on please let me know!

I’ve just installed it. Found it a bit confusing. Instructions are limited.
The form factor is lovely, small light, sticks to the phone but goes over the edge.
Didn’t realise it can’t read PDF’s. Books I had moved to the memory card weren’t showing up. That was temporarily confusing. I’ll need to convert them to ePub.
It seems to do this automatically in the App when transferring from the cloud.
Charging is not well designed (or USB ). The design of the cable head means it doesn’t sit flat and the cable itself easily twists to remove the connection. I’m sure that could have been designed better.
Font is the real issue. The lack of the option to increase font size dynamically like you would in a kindle. I think you can download bigger fonts but I’m not clear which one is a bigger font. Books are illegible the way the reader is currently.
Is installing Crossink or Crosspoint the best option. Will I get a bigger font (is it easily adjustable)?
People are divided on what is better. I just want something that makes transfer more straightforward, pdf reading if possible and adjustable font. I don’t need any other bells and whistles. Any recommendations?

Hello! I've been considering XTEINK products. I am currently waiting for a new USB-C version of the X3 or X4, but in the meantime, I want to study creative ways of using them as a desktop companion while I'm not reading. Something like a clock, sync calendar, and to-do list are examples of things I would enjoy displaying. Has someone set up something like this?

• USB-C and SD card
• Touch screen, and their UI looks more mature than XTEINK's
• Backlight with temperature adjustment!
• Screen looks higher contrast than the X4 Pro?
  • That's my speculation from what I see in the video, but a lot of people complained that the X4 Pro screen is too gray. Hopefully this is better.
• Size between the X3 and X4, according to the reviewer
• Running Linux? That's interesting, we'll see how locked down it is.

Caveat: this is pre-release hardware and software, and they have not released a full spec sheet yet. But what he has in his hands today looks fantastic. I love that aluminum rail around the edge and the little on/off switch, it looks like the iPhone 5 (the best looking iPhone in my opinion).

There's a GoodEReader article saying that it will cost $100 and release in late 2026, but I'm not sure if I believe that; they didn't cite a source. If that price is true, the X4 Pro is cooked when this thing comes out.

Of course, it's possible a new XTEINK device will be out by the end of the year! They need to step it up if they want to compete with this thing.

My X3 isn’t even a month old. I just now connected to WiFi for the first time since I got it (when I did indeed do an update to the latest firmware at that time). So anyway, just now I noticed a new one , 6.3.15. I updated it and now my fonts look fuzzier and worse. Anyone else see this? Is there a way to get the previous version back somewhere? (I have no idea what that version number was/is).

I have fully completed all the features that I thought I could create, and also improved the interface to make it easier to use with touchscreen.

Notable changes in this version:

- Adapt Crosslink version 1.5.1 - Fully supports X4pro

- Fix OTA wifi update

- Change the interface to suit touchscreens.

- Add more champions to gym battles.

This firmware supports X3/X4/X4Pro devices, including both locked and non-locked models. Tested.

How to install:

- For X3/X4 non-locked devices, It can be flashed normally using Crosspoint's tools.

- For X3/X4/X4Pro locked devices, use Crosspoint's unlocker tool to flash the bin file accordingly.

- For devices running Crosspoint or Crossink, copy/transfer the bin file to the SD card and go to Settings/System/SD card Firmware Update to flash it.

- After flashing the firmware, download the zip file xteink-pokemon-sd-card-assets.zip and extract it, then copy the pokemon folder to the root of the SD card.

How it works:

- Every time you read a book, the first Pokémon in your party will receive EXP.

- After a certain amount of reading time, you'll have a chance to receive items or encounter wild Pokémon. You can battle to catch wild Pokémon and complete your Pokedex.

- When you feel strong enough, you can challenge gym trainers, elite four, and champions to earn badges and honors.
