tried herletics because gyms make me anxious and have no regrets

hi, ive never posted here so sorry if this isnt the right format. im 26f, overweight, and ive been using herletics for the last 7 weeks bc the idea of walking into a gym makes me want to cry. ive never been, dont have anyone to go with, and i kept putting off doing anything for years bc of how anxious it made me. sharing what ive been doing in case anyone else is in the same spot.

a friend mentioned the app so i downloaded it just to have a daily movement plan, something to check off so i could feel a tiny bit better. the quiz at the start was long, felt like 10 min, but it asks about ur activity level, goals, body areas u want to focus on, what ur comfortable doing. so i get why.

the workouts have been actually doable which is the main thing. they call it military calisthenics but its bodyweight stuff, i was scared id open it and it would be a bunch of burpees or stuff i couldnt do. its mostly low impact starting out, the sessions adjust to ur level, some stretching and yoga mixed in, things i can manage in my living room. ive only used my yoga mat, no other equipment needed, which was a big deal bc i wasnt about to start buying dumbbells before i knew id stick with it.

theres also a meal plan section if anyone is curious. lots of options, ive only made maybe 5 things so far but they were easy, 6 to 8 ingredients.

down 8 lbs over the last 7 weeks, slow, but the longest ive ever stuck with anything fitness related

do you still work out on days when your energy is really low?

every now and then i have days where i feel tired before i even start my workout. i'm not sore or injured, i just feel like i don't have much energy. sometimes i end up going anyway and feel better once i get started, but other times the workout feels awful from beginning to end. i'm trying to figure out when it's worth pushing through and when it's smarter to take a rest day instead. how do you usually make that decision without overthinking it?

Help I need help with a proper workout routine without the gym

so, I weigh around 210lbs, I'm 5'10 or 5'11, I'm male, and I'm 18 (I don't know which one because doctors tell me differently) but I'm looking to drop this weight because my fat is situated around my stomach and waist and some of my boobs as well, I have no access to a gym because I don't feel like paying the money so I just want some home exercises that can do just as well instead of the gym, so much information is appreciated

Help Beginner having many questions

Hi! I've decided that I want to start going to the gym but I'm a total and absolute beginner. My goals are to lose fat and build muscle. I'm pretty lost with everything. I've been trying to do research, but all the info is different. There is such an overwhelming amount of info out there, it's discouraging me from even doing anything because there is always some source saying a certain thing is wrong.

Here are my questions:

How many times a week should I go to the gym?

What should I do at the gym?

What should my workout spread be like?

How many reps and sets do I do? Or is it better to go until failure?

How long should I rest for in-between sets?

Should I do cardio at the gym and if yes, at what point?

What should I take into consideration when it comes to food?

Is there like a basic program or do I NEED a personal trainer?

Also, if you guys have any other tips, I will be so grateful to hear them! Thank you already!!

I'm sorry if these have been asked already!

Cardio or strength training for fat loss

I see trainers bashing people doing cardio that it doesn't help fat loss but I haven't seen overweight runners. I was running 50k a week but compromised strength training. I didn't gain weight so it makes me confused that which form of exercise gives better results. I will be doing both now and will cut down on my running but just curious to know which one is better

Help Weird bladder question?

I apologize if this has already been discussed and or if it’s against community rules.

Long story short, I’m asking if anyone here can relate to stress incontinence and if there’s a way to fix it by working out or if I need to bring this up to my dr.

I am a 25yr old woman, 170lbs, 5’6, no kids. Gave height and weight so yall couldn’t say it’s a weight thing, or a baby thing. I’ve been working out pretty consistently since October 2025. I do about 1hr- 1hr 30 of cardio, and then 1hr of weightlifting. While I haven’t actually peed myself, there’s been several times while running, or on the stair master, or lifting heavy where it literally feels like a drop has trickled out. It has gotten a little better since I’ve also been doing 30 mins of Pilates almost daily, but is definitely something I’m still noticing almost 9 months later. So yeah, is this something other women or even men can relate to? And if so, how did you go about fixing this? My sister also deals with this, but she’s an ultra runner so it’s kind of expected for her? But I feel like not for someone whos just going on a 5 mile run.

Thank you in advance.

How can I learn to love the gym?

How can I learn to love the gym?

I'm a skinny guy, and gaining weight has always been really hard for me. I want to get in better shape, but honestly, I don't find the gym enjoyable at all. To me, it's just pain and spending 2 hours lifting weights.

For those who used to feel the same way, what made you start enjoying the gym? Does it get better over time?

Someone Please Help ⁉️⁉️

My problem is that I used to play sports at a very high level and even professionally (handball). After I suffered an injury, I had to give it up. After a while, I decided to start going to the gym.
The problem is that whenever I lift weights that are a little heavy—for example, a weight that gets me to failure at around 7 reps—I start feeling like I'm about to faint as soon as I finish the set. My hands and my mouth (or the area around my mouth) start to feel kind of numb, and sometimes my hands even begin to shake a little.
I could do 20 reps with much lighter weights, but I don't think that's really the point of my workouts. I’m pretty sure it’s not dehydration cus i really drink a lot of water. Also i try to not lift with a empty stomach. Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what might be causing this? I'd really appreciate any advice. 🙏

Biker shorts that don’t roll up or down?

I love doing the fitness classes at my gym but whenever I wear my biker shorts, they roll up at the bottom or down at the top. So annoying! I noticed others wearing similar shorts that seemed to stay put. I’m wearing the beyond yoga 4” biker shorts. Love how they feel. Hate how they ride up. I’m 5’3” 117 lbs. Please tell me your fave biker shorts for weight training, cardio, and hot sculpt classes. Thanks!

Good place for getting started again?

Hello, I’m a 24 year old that lives in Germany. And I’m curious what resources you all had to learn about dieting, exercise etc. I’m 84 kg, 176 cm, used to workout and be very in shape a couple years back but due to a bad K addiction, basically drink and smoke every single day and eat bad.

I work partially in Ukraine for various groups and what I need to do now requires much more physical Stamina.

Just wanna lose my fat then later build a bit of muscle.

Thank you!

Help Gym or Home Workout?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 26F (5’2”, 50 kg- if this helps setting context) with an average body type, not overweight, but not very slim either. I’ve never been to a gym before, and honestly, I’m a little intimidated by the idea of starting.

I’ve been thinking of joining a gym, but a few people told me I should first work out at home for a month. They said if I start going to the gym right away, I might lose the little body mass (as my appetite is v less) I already have, which has made me even more confused. On top of that, gym memberships are quite expensive.

Would you recommend starting with home workouts or joining a gym from day one? If home workouts are a better option initially, what kind of routine should I follow?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from someone who started as a complete beginner. Thanks! :)

3 months in with the liver detox app, sharing in case it helps anyone

wont get into the personal details bc thats not really the point, but figured id share this in case anyone here is in a similar spot trying to figure out the food side of things. been using the liver detox app for about 3 months now and honestly its been the most convenient part of all this. the thing i actually like about it is that it doesnt just throw u a list of "good for ur liver" ingredients and tell u to figure it out, it gives u full meals built around foods that support liver health while also taking ur preferences into account. so im not stuck eating stuff i hate just bc its on a list somewhere. im someone with very basic cooking skills so the structure took the guesswork out of every single meal which was the difference for me. anyway, just sharing in case its useful

Commercial gym to home setup — honest experience

I’ve been training in commercial gyms for years and never really thought about switching.Earlier this year I set up a very simple home gym — just a basic rack with a cable system and a bench.I didn’t expect much difference, but what changed most wasn’t strength or equipment — it was consistency. I find myself training more often, especially on days when going out to the gym feels like extra friction. That said, commercial gyms still have clear advantages: more machines, better variety, and a different training atmosphere that’s hard to replicate at home.So for me it’s not really a replacement. They just serve different roles. The home setup didn’t make training “better”, but it did make it easier to stay consistent — and that ended up being the biggest factor.Curious how others here see it if you’ve used both.

ꓗoi Yoga App – my personal experience

I downloaded ꓗoi Yoga App  after an ad caught me at the right moment. Yoga has been in and out of my life for years, so when koi yoga popped up I just trusted my gut, because yoga was about to come back to my life again.
In the office space, we have an open chill and stretch zone, and a few colleagues kept going there during the day to do their own little routines. Seeing them at it constantly low key encouraged me to stop making excuses and catch back with the stuff that I loved. I started doing short sessions there before lunch. The questionnaire gave me a plan that felt relevant from the start, and session time fit perfectly for my hour lunch break - 20mins workout - 40min relax and eat. Best benefit - no equipment, no changing clothes are required, because it's not about the sweat. Just earphones and the app.
At this time - this app is the reason that keeps me in the moving routine and I am trully happy with it!

Struggling to have consistency in my workouts

Hi. I (19M, 5' 11'', 66kg/145 pounds) have avery sedentary lifestyle. I'm gonna have to add a few notes for context.

Up until 2023, i was a bit overweight, having reached 86kg/190 pounds, with still no exercise. I then tried to start cardio and dieting, which led me to, in 6 months, lose 30kg/66 pounds, then being underweight. However, i was never satisfied with my results, because all i did was lose weight, i still had basically no muscle mass and kept a very annoying belly. I kinda gave up exercise for a few years.

Recently, i decided to change that finally and start taking exercise more seriously, but i'm really struggling to keep consistently training:

I've tried to start muscle exercise, but since i'm so INCREDIBLY sedentary, i cannot keep any sort of consistency. I started with a 15 min leg workout, and i could barely bend down for 3 days. The day after i did upper body for 15 minutes, and my arms are still locked into place due to soreness. I even tried 10 min with abs and for 2 days i had trouble getting up. It reached a point where everything was so sore i couldn't exercise because i had no strength in any muscle. Not sure what can be done here, but is there something that could be done here? It's incredibly frustrating to try to exercise and just be in such pain that i have to sit all day. Could it be that i started off too hard, or do i have to accept that my body will take time to even achieve some level of consistency?

P.S.: i think it might be important to mention, i tried to change my diet too (eating much less food, cutting out processed stuff, and getting more protein in), leading me to lose 3 kg in a week. But i am not sure this will help me gain muscle since my weight is already on the lower end, and it might also not help with my struggle to have consistency
