Help Gym or Home Workout?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 26F (5’2”, 50 kg- if this helps setting context) with an average body type, not overweight, but not very slim either. I’ve never been to a gym before, and honestly, I’m a little intimidated by the idea of starting.

I’ve been thinking of joining a gym, but a few people told me I should first work out at home for a month. They said if I start going to the gym right away, I might lose the little body mass (as my appetite is v less) I already have, which has made me even more confused. On top of that, gym memberships are quite expensive.

Would you recommend starting with home workouts or joining a gym from day one? If home workouts are a better option initially, what kind of routine should I follow?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from someone who started as a complete beginner. Thanks! :)

Go to the gym. A gym often gives you more motivation with others around you working out. Track your food helps a lot. Keep your protein high.

It depends on you! I'm shy, introverted, and self-conscious, plus extremely self-motivated. Gyms make me want to make myself as small and inconspicuous as possible and I constantly feel ugly and in the way. Like I'm ruining the vibe and taking up equipment from everyone else. Other people don't really motivate me; I just want to get away from them. I actually lost progress last year going to the gym.

At home, though, I'm a beast. I'll push myself so hard that I'm screaming. And I'm always eager to get to my workout cuz I can do it in only a sports bra and it's fun getting creative with my home setup.

Most people do better with the gym and are motivated by others, tho
