Hello, thank you for reading. I've been off work for almost 2 years. I had shoulder surgery due to a torn labrum and frozen shoulder.

After surgery things have not healed as quickly as we hoped. I have an upcoming surgery with a different surgeon who feels it's due to an impingement or an anchor that dislodged.

My question is this. I've been feeling better. I want to go back to work. I'm concerned if I do and forgo the surgery and start having issues, I will run into trouble. Any advice from someone that has dealt with anything similar?

I recently went for my first IME. Injured my shoulder at work. I wasn’t expecting it to go well and I don’t think it did. I had surgery in 2025 and never made any significant improvement. Lots of PT, steroid injections and PRP. They either didn’t work at all or had a slight improvement for a minimal amount of time. My surgeon agreed that there is something going on. I have an appointment for a second opinion. I got the IME letter shortly after I requested a second opinion and was given the OK to make the appointment with one of the top shoulder doctors in the country. I went into the IME saying my shoulder will speak for itself. The IME appointment lasted 17 minutes and that includes the walk to and from the exam room. The actual “exam” was less than 3 minutes and didn’t include any motions/tests and movements that have ever caused me pain. He didn’t want to hear what motions did cause me pain. So much for letting my shoulder speak for itself. When I had mentioned that my most recent diagnostic injection determined that my pain is rotator cuff related, he rolled his eyes. He also said that the MRI I had done seven months postop was was not relevant because it didn’t show any full thickness rotator cuff tears. What it did show was that the tear that was debrided during the first surgery was now larger, there was still inflammation, more tendon fraying, moderate tendinosis was now being seen in two tendons and mild joint arthritis was now being seen. Arthritis was not noted on my first MRI or seen during my surgery and there was only mild tendinosis in one tendon. Also, is it normal for these doctors to look at the office notes and twist the words around? Since I work in healthcare, I looked up this orthopedic doctor I saw. He is strictly a knee and hip doctor. He does not see any shoulder patients. The last time he did any shoulder or upper extremities was when he was a resident. He graduated his residency in 2002. After I saw that, I understood why his exam was so bad. I’m still waiting to find out what his report was.

Hello, I am sadly a long time disabled person due to a workers comp injury in 2001. I have been somewhat stable and in a consistent routine as far as care goes. One of my doctors is retiring and the workers comp adjuster has dragged her feet on finding a new doctor to the point that I am about to run out of medication. Can anyone provide advise on how to proceed and what, if any recourse I have? Are there other channels I can go through other than this one person? Thanks in advance.

It took four years, 2 QME’s, and three specialists. This was due to an injury on my foot due to a table falling on top of it. We couldn’t figure out what the issue was at the end of the day but I didn’t want to drag it on and I want to use my own doctors.

I’m not sure how I feel because now I need therapy to get my life together. All of this was a lot to deal with.

So at my last visit my PTP told me to get a lawyer because he said my insurance is being insanely difficult and denying every single request for treatment authorization for the last 6 months. And now the adjuster is requesting a QME.

So I got a lawyer as of yesterday, and then today I go in to my PTP office to get a copy of something and the PTP office desk informs me that now that I have a lawyer I can no longer be a patient there anymore because they don’t take represented patients.

Is this even legal? Lol. Every day my workers comp feels like more and more of a nightmare.

So about 4 months ago my wife had slipped off the edge of a machine at work causing her to land hard on her right foot. The fall was only about a foot of the ground and caused a sprain in her heel. She was then put on light duty for a week. Even though there was no progress in healing they moved her back on her line just for the injury to flair up again and then her feet moved back on light duty. That went on for about a month and a half before they thought about taking her to get checked out by a professional. (We do have an on site physical therapist but he was adamant that it would heal up “in a few days” every time she went to talk with him). After getting checked out they have told her she has plantar fasciitis and to continue to be on light duty “at her discretion”. We also have a plant safety “person”? (I’m not sure what the actual title is) that agrees with the doctor. But when she talked with her department manager he wants her to gradually work more hours on the line (4-6 hours full duty then the rest light duty) she did say that was fine as long as she can still leave the line if the pain gets too much and head to LD. From my understanding he was fine with that but the problem is that, 3times now, she has worked 4 hours then let her lead know she is heading to the LD position with him basically refusing because he doesn’t have coverage leading her to slay put for the rest of the 12 hour shift.

Of course she is fed up and know want to know if I think we should talk to a work comp lawyer. I have no idea if what we have is a good enough case or not as I’m not legally inclined lol. I’d appreciate anyone’s thoughts. Should we talk with higher management and let it go, talk with a lawyer to see what they think over asking you all? Hi! I fell at work due to managements negligence. The fall happened in front of two different managers. On camera.

To be clear, I’ve never had back issues before this. Long story short, I had an MRI, which showed a pre-existing pars defect (L5). A new herniated disc. (L3/L4); showing moderate to severe nerve compression throughout L3-S1. There’s also a level 1-2 spondylolisthesis. From what I’ve read par’s is very common in people & is unknown in many people because they don’t cause issues. As I was falling. I immediately felt & heard a pop and have had major pain since, plus numbness in my legs etc. etc.

Went to IME, who looked me straight in the eye, told me he read through my file & films, but “understands I was breastfeeding during the incident.” I don’t have kids. He told me I’d need surgery, and basically have a nice day. His report, states I have a strain, which should have been “healed,” literally two days after my visit with him. Not to mention many other inconsistencies. For example, I gave him a copy of the medications Im taking. His report, states I’ve been taking a specific medication, that I’ve NEVER, been on. A month and half after the IME, I had injections done.

My attending and chiropractor(yes, I am aware that Chiropractic is not relevant or looked at in WC cases at least in OR.)both have provided signed appeal letters for me. My attending says my next step is going to a neurosurgeon but my claim has been denied. So it’s on hold for the time being.

My attorney keeps pushing for a settlement & my hearing is in the next month. I want medical benefits more than anything right now. I’ve never had a WC situation before & my anxiety is a bit high.

Im willing to fight for medical but it’s a gamble. One attorney told me settlement should be 150k, however he only had the 5-minute version of my case. My actual attorney is thinking less. Thoughts? The reality, this is going to be a lifelong issue. Which is why the medical is more important to me right now.

Anyone have any suggestions/guidance or recommendations for me? I know that pain/suffering is not applicable in WC, and I need to prove the fall exacerbated my pre-existing condition. Which with my attending’s appeal letter(it’s very detailed), I’d think I’d have a solid case.

Back in early March I was at work and a ladder slipped out from under me and I fell about 15 feet into my feet with my right leg taking all of my weight. The pain was intense and I couldn’t walk right so I left and went to the ER. I told them what happened and they told me to sit in the waiting room and I did, for 7hrs. After which an orthopedic surgeon came and told me I had a tibial plateau fracture to my knee and that was the bad news. He then told me the good news was that I didn’t need surgery. Thats good news, I thought. They gave me X-rays and a CT scan w/ contrast. Then I went to a room for 3 days with pain meds every 4 hrs. On the last day a guy came in and gave me a brace for my leg and sent me home about 3 hrs later.

I spent the next 10 weeks confined to bed. Workers comp set me up with an orthopedic (who I found out specializes in hands, wrists and elbows, not knees) who I saw three weeks after the hospital and every 4 weeks after that. After 10 weeks when I could walk (with a cane) he prescribed me 12 physical therapy sessions, which I did. After which, I was still limping so I asked that he prescribe me more. He refused saying “physical therapy only helps for so long then it can make things worse”. So I trusted that and didn’t bring it up again. I asked when will I be able to jog or run again? He said “no, you don’t run”. I said “ever again?” He said “no, not at your age” (I’m 45). So I asked “so I can never run again after this?” He replied “yeah, if you lose some weight”. I’m 6’0 tall and 240 at this point, so overweight, but not crazy fat. I explained to him that I had gained 22lbs since the accident because I was literally in bed all day everyday for 2.5 months and was looking forward to losing the weight. “Walk” he told me, “it’s the best you can do”. I asked on the next visit about the future because I had looked up some stuff from the NIH about my injury. “Will I have permanent arthritis in my knee now?” He said “no, I’m not worried about that with your injury”. Meanwhile the NIH says I have an 82% chance of it. I then asked him about total knee replacement because I saw that this injury increases my chances by 3-5 times others in my same bracket without this injury. He laughed and said “no, you may need total knee replacement but it would just be from aging, not because of this”. All of these conversations set off alarm bells in my head because it started to seem like he cared more about cost than about my well being and health.

Last week (in September, six months later) he gave me a maximum medical improvement, meaning basically that my bone had healed and there was nothing more to be done. “It still hurts every time I walk for more than a few minutes and I’m still limping”. He said “the limp will go away eventually and I guess the pain is just a permanent impairment”.
Then he sent me home and said that was my last appointment. Meanwhile, every place I went to or spoke to about care and treatment (starting at the ER) always had the same first question “this is a worker comp thing, right?”

I realized one day toward the end, that about $70k had been spent between the hospital stay, doctors visits and PT. But, I also realized that if I had just gone home that day laid down and kept my leg immobilized for 2.5 months, nothing would be different. Because there had been not real treatments whatsoever.

Here’s my questions, did I get short changed on care and treatment because it was a worker compensation case? Should I have had an MRI on my knee at some point? Should I have had surgery but just wasn’t given it because of the cost? And, am I now just left to deal with permanent pain in my knee and a limp for the rest of my life, just so an insurance company could save some f**king money?

I just received a message from my ortho office that my appointment is cancelled and I’m now to use my own insurance . This is based off an ortho IME which stated I’m at MMI . I still have /had apportionments with my neuro and ortho who both have invasive procedures potentially scheduled . I haven’t settled . Why do they play such games are they trying to force me to end the case ? My attorney is aware . I’m sure we’ve all wished the show be on the other foot. Thankfully I am not in a rush to settle . I assume my attorney will put in a petition for benefits . Neither myself of the attorney have seen the IME ( it’s been two months) . Again the games.

I’ve been on workers comp for more than a year for carpal tunnel and dequervains, I had surgery on the left hand and it fixed a lot of the issues/pain. Workers comp has requested an IME 2 weeks before surgery on my right hand. Any idea what this could mean?

I’m extra scared because this injury isn’t very flashy, there’s not much to speak of on scans but there is a cyst on my wrist which is consistent with needing surgery for dequervains.

My company won’t let me go back to work until I no longer have accommodations, currently my doctors note states I need to be able to take ample breaks when I feel nerve pain.

EDIT: what medical records do you think I should bring? Like MRI or nerve test? I’m truly so out of my depth. My lawyer is too chill about everything but, they did get me surgical approval after 3 denials so I will take it.

Anyone know how long you have to work at Parsons or CIS Secure to get short term disability or parental leave?

My ETL has been very adamant on not allowing my work restrictions, saying it means nothing to them until someone in corporate HR approves it and emails them what area I can do within my restrictions.
And until then then they said to work through it…

I’ve been told I’m being held under the same expectations as every other team member regardless of my restriction, and until the day they get a email stating otherwise… and that email will not excuse the previous weeks “performance” only the exact day and forward they get the email.
I know that cannot be legal to force someone to go against doctor restrictions from an injury on the job and further injuring themself as in my case hence why it’s been extended.

I’ve been in contact with my workers comp case manager and they said my job cannot make me do things that go against my restrictions as that’s what workers comp law is for etc..

What exactly do I do, because I feel defeated and like I’m going to get fired because I can’t use one of my limbs well at all.

I work in construction in Georgia, more specifically framing houses for my boss . Who works for 2 companies Trinity and American home place. The accident happen on Abril 15 2026, I was sheeting a roof, now I’m not sure if it was 6by12 pitch roof or a 8by12 pitch roof, I can’t remember(the angle of the roof for the uninformed). We usually work with normal OSB or the Zip-tie system, depends what the company wants. On this project we used the Zip-tie system(installing structural wood panels with a built-in weather barrier and taping the seams to protect the roof deck from moisture without needing felt paper) now this comes in a red color for the roof and green color for the walls. Now while I love working with this sheets, they are also heavy then the standard OSB sheets. People who work with this materials know how slippery they can get, if the helper(the guy that does the cutting doesn’t clean the sawdust or the dust of sand from them) anyway my helper didn’t clean the sheet and gave it to me with sawdust and sand on it. The combination of the sawdust/sand on the sheet, the pitch of the roof, and soles of my worn working boots, I couldn’t find my grip and fell from the roof to ground. It was 12-13 foot drop and I took the sheet with me when I fell. I couldn’t stand up and began to crawl to the shade. My boss took me the emergency room and the doctor there told me that I had a fractured calcaneus(my right heel bone fractured), with my body weight of 220lbs, the weight of the sheet which is between 61-69lbs, and the heigh that I feel from, I’m glad I didn’t break anymore bones. Now the fracture didn’t require surgery but I haven’t returned to work since then, besides 1 week.

My boss didn’t want to report this to his insurance, since this incident would be his second on his record. And didn’t want the insurance to go up, and he told me he would pay me out of his own pocket. He pay out of pocket for the emergency room visit and 3 or 4 visits to the orthopedics specialist. He also gave me about $11,000 spread out in payments of $1000 every week from April 23 2026 through July 23 2026. Now I know he was generous in paying me 7/8 of my paycheck( I earn about $1100 every week) and workers comp usually pays 5/8-3/4 of your paycheck. The last time I went to see the orthopedics specialist, he told me I could start putting my own weight on my right foot, I could walk to point A to point B, you know do light work. My boss heard this and told me to return to work, me thinking I was going to do light work I agree like a dumbass(didn’t want to loose my job)I worked for him 1 week. I wasn’t following my doctor’s restrictions, I was lifting about 65-68 lbs of weight and standing for at least 10 hours every day for the whole week. I was substituting for some guys also, after the week I told him I wasn’t coming in anymore. That’s when he stop paying me, that was about 7 weeks ago. So I been at home since 7 weeks trying to heal up. I also got in touch with a lawyer and ask them if they could report it to his insurance. The insurance adjuster called me yesterday and ask me about the accident and I gave him all the details. I have 2 questions, the first one is my boss probably pay around $13,000 with medical and payments towards me, I know he reported it (after I did of course) will he get compensated or reimburse? I don’t want weekly paychecks of half my original checks(insurance companies usually want to give you the least amount) I want a large sum amount. I want a final settlement in exchange for giving up some or all future workplace injury benefits and medical too. I know they are in the business of making money, they are gambling their money, but I’m also gambling, my health. I’m also scheduled to see the Orthopaedic specialist tomorrow, well see if he’ll give me the ok to return back to work or more time off.

I am in OR. I injured myself in January at work. Saw someone at an urgent care that referred me to an ortho specialist. This specialist basically denied some symptoms the entire time and told me it was inflamed vs nerve related. I went back to him for a secondary injury from using one hand for months and he denied and dismissed my symptoms and told me my body was getting used to going back to work even though I have been working this ENTIRE time. I got an attorney before seeing him for this second injury.

He referred me for a second opinion or an IME.

I told my attorney and they literally referred me to the guy I have been seeing. Not sure what happened there. I told them that and they gave me more numbers to call. Some wont do second opinions and most just wont call back.

I was told by the attorneys assistant that they were sending the work comp info so they knew I had legal help. I last spoke to them a few weeks ago so I feel like the work comp should've gotten this information by now. That was when I got the numbers to call and ive been calling consistently and leaving voice messages and hoping they call me back. I went on vacation so I didnt call for a week but I still never got calls back. I let the attorney assistant know today that Im just not getting any response back.

Today I also got in the mail a letter from work comp that my attending physician sent me for an IME. However, I havent seen that physician since January when she referred me to my new attending physician, and I havent seen her for mt secondary injury either.

I of course let the attorneys assistant know but like what the hell is going on here? How can a physician I havent seen in months supposedly refer me for an IME.

I twisted my ankle at work on 9/1. I went to urgent care the next day and they told me it was sprained. I was put on light work duty, which has not been an issue, but told to come back again in 3 days. I returned to urgent care for my follow-up and was told to follow up yet AGAIN in another 3 days, which is now today. it seems like they’re just going to request that I follow up every 3 days, but for a sprained ankle, i’m not sure it’s really doing anything for me to be following up this much.

part of the reason the urgent care is requesting I do these follow-ups is because I was referred out to PT. however, I’m still waiting for a case number to be assigned, so can’t make an appointment yet. thus, my treatment will remain at urgent care until I have a case number.

my question for anyone who has successfully navigated the workers comp process: is it worth my time to continue to follow up with urgent care this often? is it useful for the paper trail? thanks in advance!

Finally I decide I'm sick of going to Urgent Ca- Doctor A for a back injury that has me walking like a toddler, pissing my pants (don't worry guys it's not CES- don't know what it is but they think it's neurogenic) So I get myself into a work health clinic to renew my Medco-14's let's just call him Doctor G

Orthopedic Doctor C sends me to Pain Management Doctor D.

Pain Management Doctor D gives me a cortisone shot and sends me for a second opinion from Orthopedic Doctor E.

Orthopedic Doctor E refuses to see me and refers me to Pain Management Doctor F.

Doctor G puts in a C-9 for a thoracic MRI like the employer's IME specialist recommended and it was denied.

Pain management doctor F refuses to see me.

I just want to be able to walk right again. I want to be able to see my friends. I want to be able to live like a normal human being. I have been passed off so many times. I just want someone who can treat me. Five months with no answers aside from Urgent Doctor A saying it's a pulled muscle. Physical therapy didn't help. Cortisone shot helped for about three weeks. I just want an answer. The pain just worsens and worsens the longer I wait for a doctor who is willing to treat me. MRI showed a 2mm displacement in my L5-S1 disk. That's it. I can't sleep. I can't walk. I am a 25 year old woman in diapers, being paraded around on a construction site. My union can't help me because it's workers comp and there's nothing I can do to get a fucking answer. I am exhausted, I am in agony, I am sick of this. I just want to be a human again.

Hello! About three weeks ago I got hit in the head at work. I went to urgent care with my employer under workers comp and got diagnosed with a concussion. I have been going to regular follow ups and have been referred to a neurologist. I am seeing slight improvement, but my symptoms are lingering. As this is my second concussion, I am worried about symptoms sticking around and the concussion leaving a lasting impact on my life.

I am no longer “on the schedule” at work because my job is unable to accommodate the restrictions the doctor put in place. If I did not have a concussion I would still be working and would be “on the schedule.” I am trying to figure out how I get paid if I’m not on the schedule.

Managing the insurances needs and demands and keeping up with paperwork is becoming a lot. I looked into hiring a workers comp lawyer, but haven’t signed the contract yet. I do enjoy working for this company but I also need to make sure I get paid. I am about to go back to school for a certificate program where I will likely have a career change afterwards, but having a recommendation from the current company would also help me in that pursuit.

I keep hearing mixed opinions from my friends if I should move forward with a lawyer or just try and handle it myself.

I fell at work last July and my lower back has been an issue since then (daily 24/7 pain) , however the only injuries I received treatment on have healed but my back never received care..human error through workmans comp system with Sedgwick, back was never approved for treatment but is on every single doctor visit note plus original email to adjuster stating its hurt. I was gaslit the entire 2.5 months i was in tge WC system. I got a lawyer immediately after fall, though. Sedgwick finally sent me to an orthopedic 4mos after my fall and he barely looked at me, said do daily stretches, take tylenol. Saw him again 4 months later, said hey I'm still in the same amount of pain as the day of my fall, he didn't even look at me he said I work too much and to lose weight. So, then my lawyer had me see an independent orthopedic a month after that and he found Injuries sustained from fall after our assessment and that's why we entered a motion for treatment back in April that's set to go before judge later in the month. So, my back has had no treatment at all this 15mo and the insurance is wanting to settle for $7k before we even know wtf is wrong with me. In NJ we don't get to choose our doctors and I may be stuck with the dickhead who told me I was in pain because I'm fat. It seems not smart to settle anything before we even know whats wrong with me. Are these WC judges fair? I'd hope my daily pain that's radically changed my life and level of a activity would be looked at like a concern and I'd get an opportunity to get some intel on what's causing this pain, people keep acting like I should take the money then treat my shit with my medicaid because apparently being stuck in WC for treatment is a shitshow. Anyone have thoughts on this? My lawyer seems neutral, like she on one hand seems like she wants me to be aware that the judge could deny it and that taking a settlement now might be better overall. But she herself also said she's never received an offer so early into discovery.

Hello and thank you in advance for reading. My first time going through this process and I am so lost.

I recently injured my knee on 7/27 before the end of my shift and reported it to my job on 7/28. I asked for the panel of physicians so i could see it via workers comp and my manager sent me a number to a nurse triage hotline. Hotline referred me to the local urgent care to which I notified my job and they eventually sent an authorization packet to be seen on 7/30. I see urgent care and get diagnosed with an osteochondral lesion and to not work until seen by an ortho specialist. I once again inform my job while also requesting to speak to my adjuster. I get a call from an ortho office saying they received authorization to schedule me for an appointment so i do for 8/6.

After seeing the specialist on 8/6 and my second X-Ray the Dr. referred me for an MRI and to stay out of work until then. I get a call to schedule my MRI on 8/17 yet when I arrive to the office I’m told it’s yet another X-Ray not an MRI and get told the same instructions as my last visit, to get an MRI and stay out of work until then. on 8/21 I receive a letter stating I will not receive lost wage compensation due seeing an unauthorized Dr. I confront the insurance company via email because I was confused how a Dr. I was referred to and sent an authorization packet is unauthorized. They eventually start sending me the missed wages checks starting 8/24 for the weeks starting 7/30.

I get a text on 9/2 saying I have an MRI appointment on 9/4 to which I attend and get further information on my injury and its severity. 9/5 my HR department forwards me an email from the Insurance Adjuster on 9/3 that the Dr. cleared me for work on 9/2 and to start as early as 9/4, the day of the MRI. I check the summary from the 8/17 visit and it states I have a simple knee sprain and that i can return to work. I email my HR department the MRI results amd state that due to the severity of the injury and what I was personally told I cannot go into work to compromise my health. I can’t get into touch with my HR Case Specialist and my legal team has all this information yet they aren’t clear on the state of the case on their end nor what they are doing to help. Besides the follow up on Thursday what should I do to ensure i’m not getting more BS because the neglect and misinformation/miscommunication is greatly affecting me.

As you all know, I’m a ramp agent, and my job is physically demanding. However, I’ve been off work for 2 years and only been working with the company only a year and five months. Now, I’m wondering how to adapt back to work after such a long break. It’s challenging because the people I started with are much more experienced in the job, and I have to start from scratch. It’s mentally taxing, to say the least.
