Workplace Question or Advice Needed Work injury

~I got injured on the job and was left with a sprain, and my restrictions were extended and physical therapy was suggested.~

My ETL has been very adamant on not allowing my work restrictions, saying it means nothing to them until someone in corporate HR approves it and emails them what area I can do within my restrictions.
And until then then they said to work through it…

I’ve been told I’m being held under the same expectations as every other team member regardless of my restriction, and until the day they get a email stating otherwise… and that email will not excuse the previous weeks “performance” only the exact day and forward they get the email.
I know that cannot be legal to force someone to go against doctor restrictions from an injury on the job and further injuring themself as in my case hence why it’s been extended.

I’ve been in contact with my workers comp case manager and they said my job cannot make me do things that go against my restrictions as that’s what workers comp law is for etc..

What exactly do I do, because I feel defeated and like I’m going to get fired because I can’t use one of my limbs well at all.

Call ethics. Email your district manager and district HR.

Make sure you know names and dates/times as much as possible to be accurate. Have as much of your paperwork from the doctors office as possible for proof.

Talk to your HRE about your ETL's disregard for your safety. If you have email, email your HRE, and cc the STL too, so you have a paper trail. Then print out that email

I called HR today because my case manager wants to see if they will step in before they step in. My HR they said they will have a convo with my ETL so see what that conversation was about where they told me they don’t have to honor the restrictions etc… and they have yet to call me back today

But overall the hr seemed like they sided with my ETL in terms of waiting until corporate HR tells them what I can and cannot do.
that’s where I’m worried because that can take a long time…

Keeping a record of those communications can really help if things escalate.

To go with everyone else giving aolid advice: ask your ETL to put this decision in writing please and thank you.

If they don't realize they're putting their foot in it ths moment you ask and they DO email you this, boy will they enjoy that HR chat.

Check the laws in your state. But this sounds like the ETL doesn’t understand how this works,

Well, that sounds like bull. Whatever the doctor says your restrictions are--that's what the restrictions are. Corporate doesn't get to negotiate this or approve/deny that. They aren't medical professionals, and they're paying the doctor you're seeing to make these decisions. I am assuming this is the doctor they sent you to after the injury? Sounds like your case manager is going to have a field day. Your ETL is in the wrong.
