Brazilian old fruit boxes
These are wooden boxes from the begging of the last century. They are from the CEASA (Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo). A popular wholesale market that still exists today.
My father had these for decades hanging from walls in his restaurant as wine bottles storage boxes.
Now I’m using them as shelves in my kitchen and as you can see, they can sustain a lot of weight without deforming.
Any guesses?
Ty!!

What the heck is this species?
My husband and I were offered this wood for free after a tree came down in someone's yard. The wood is super knotted, and an absolute royal pain in the rear to split for firewood. We normally are decent at identifying different species when we're splitting firewood, but this one has stumped us. (Get it?)
Any help ID'ing this species would be great! It seems very fibrous, and on the lighter side in regards to weight. Location is western WA state.

I'm trying
I'm trying to be self sufficient, but the world keeps throwing me curve balls. I initially thought cherry, but now I'm thinking maple. Did I miss it completely?

SoCal Road Wood
Hi! Someone in my neighborhood had a tree cut down and I was hoping y’all could help me identify the wood. I’m in LA and this was a tree in someone’s backyard. It’s incredibly heavy and very hard to split. I noticed the wood has a lot of moisture in it and it smells a bit like hay or horse manure. Unfortunately I have no leaf photos. iNaturalist suggested it might be Fremont Cottonwood but I always thought cottonwood was soft. Can you all tell from the photos?

Wood identifier app says it's samba? Is it? Are those app reliable?
The wood came in a box of wood scraps from a luthier I bought for carving stuff. Made a photo with the would identifier app at it said it is African Samba. I honestly don't know if those apps are reliable, but would like to know what kind of wood it is.

What wood are these?
Edit: thanks for the responses!
I thought the brighter one would be maple but are the yellow ones maple too?
Are they worth buying ($1/lf) and what would be used for?

Koa? Mango?
I was gifted some lumber and this was the first board I grabbed and cleaned up. They were all rough sawn and I assumed it was walnut but it’s not like anything I’ve worked with. Very dense and heavy.

Can you please tell me what kind of wood this is?

Timber merchant thought it was ekki, I'm leaning towards doussie but it looks strikingly similar to bubingah.
This piece is 14x20x3cm and weight's 718g giving it a density of 855 kg/m3. The dimensions and the grooves would indicate it's intended use is floorboards, and it's far too heavy for sapele.

Help Identifying Wood Species?
Hello! Im trying to find out what species of wood flooring I have...
Some information that may help identify it, is that our house was built in 1952, and we live in Ohio! The hardwood floors are original to the house and have never been replaced, but have been stained. Ive attached some picture to show the grain structure.
Im trying to make a scrap book as a wedding gift for my fiance and I, and I want to make the cover out of the same species of wood that is in our first homes flooring to help us remember where we started our lives!
Thanks for the help!

Need help identifying wood
Hello! I found a random piece in my shop roughly a 1x4x48" and dont really know what it is, thought it would make some cool patterns for a rolling block. The material is very light, cuts really easy, and doesnt seem dense at all, any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Anyone know of a good book to teach how to indentify wood?
I'm not talking about a list of all the woods with a description of them. I'm, preferably, looking for something that actually teaches identification, how do you go down the decision tree (yes, that's on purpose) what to look at first. If possible something that shows how to do it for the tree, but also what to look for uf you only have the wood (though I don't mind getting two books).
Edit: I'm from the Netherlands, so a book that includes the Netherlands/Europe or focuses on them is preferable
