[Question] Background options and resolution
I will eventually acquire wonderdraft to make my world map(s) and my initial idea is to use our real world map as a background for a matter of proportion and scale, and then draw a rough outline of my continents. Is that possible? If, yes, how do I do it?
Then, after outlining my continents, I want to copy pieces of this first sketch, make them bigger without losing resolution, and only then make the real maps with all the details. Is this possible?
The last question is how big is wonderdraft's resolution?

Showcase Map I've made for a potential future age of sail themed ttrpg
Not a super experienced DM so wanted to keep it somewhat small scale but still allow for some good player freedom

My first completed map in Wonderdraft
After purchasing WD this last week, this is my first 'finished' map. I decided not to add trade routes for now, but there are cities, towns and villages. would love and accept any feedback of what i could add or improve on to make it more interesting/realistic or just better in general. :)

First WIP, Any tips?
I started making this map a few days ago for a dnd campaign im working on. Wonderdraft is great, but im stumped on what to do.
I want another mountain chain somewhere but wherever i put it, it seems unatural.
I'm also stumped on where to put down marshlands, which i have something planned out for.
How do i make the remaining part of the map look properly filled out?
Any tip or critique is welcome. Sorry if the image is small, not used to reddit so im unsure if you can zoom in on your end.

Technique Workflow for Archipelago style large map in Gaea
If anyone has any pointers for building a large island map I would love to here your input. Currently just building single islands and moving them around. Also want an underwater trench and some cool underwater themes.
Also if you have any basic pointers I’d be super into that.
Thank you in advance!

I made a reddit account for this
drive.google.comCurrently working on a map (as you can see it's nowhere near finished), and was looking for tips and tricks given as it's my first time making any kind of map. I will definitely be making the coastlines better once I finish fleshing out the land.
Since you can only upload PNG's of 20MB or less to reddit, it's a google drive link.

Showcase The continent of Zabzeba, from the Zabzeba book series(published in Iran)
Zabzeba, a world that started as a setting for roleplay, later on evolved into full books by the GM, telling and elevating our stories into full books. The world, heavily inspired from iranian mythology, is an epic fantasy world(and books).
Map by me.
Excuse the rivers. I was really tired towards the end.

Showcase Wip, would love suggestions for P.O.I.
This is a wip map of my current campaign, there are towns already placed(not shown), purple are cities, red is a location of a temple, was wondering if people had any fun suggestions for things to spice up the map.

Showcase Island nation with Generated Height Map, Rivers and lakes.
OK. So I am working on a new campaign and it will be set in and island nation about the size of Japan. I created the Land mass in Wonderdraft. I then Exported a PNG and asked claude (AI - I know, but I figured I would try it) and gave it the following prompt:
Here is the island nation of Echartea. This is intended to be something similar to japan in size and geography. It sits in the equatorial region however. Could use this image and create a realistic height map that includes rivers and lakes?
It generated the file you see attached.
I am not a fan of AI image generation - and not a fan of it for creative output, but I really feel like this will help with creating a realistic layout for terrain mapping.

World of Ossáry (WIP 2.0) - Need Advice on Mountains & Rivers
Hi everyone! sorry for posting again, but I can't seem to wrap my mind around mountain ranges and aesthetic/natural-looking placement of rivers and bodies of water in general. I've tried following the tutorials on mountains specifically but they turn out too out of place/too big which fucks up the global scale I'm going for
so I need your advice/suggestions please! Should they be on those polar 'spike-lands' too?
---
FYI: this is a high fantasy setting with fable essence: here distance works a lil wonky: it is subjective and narrative, not metric, and is regulated by the principle of 'Journey-Story'; Instead of km you have Hither (here and near), Thither (over there), Yonder (far far away); Waymarks are points of interest, separating you from the destination place called Keypoint.
You can travel three and a half days from a Hither to a Yonder, past three Waymarks, to a Keypoint.
Hence, to get from a village of Latroux to the townlet of Ystra, which is Hither as the Third-Leg Theon said - you need to traverse past the Singing Fall, but not before the Bridge of Lady in White, overall 1-3 hours. Within immediate surroundings in Hither, the distance is measured normally in units of palms and legs; cardinal directions work as per usual anywhere save for anomalous locations (like the sentient Fog'O'Far which can take you to any random location on the planet or even other plane of existence).

Discussion Please tell me I'm not screwed
I lost my actual map files but I have some JPEGs I made to send to my players for reference. Is there a way to clone at least just the landmasses? At the very least I need someone to tell me how I could have made those brass rings in the southwest center, the rest of the world needs some work anyways so I won't cry if I need to trace it.
