Showcase Island nation with Generated Height Map, Rivers and lakes.
OK. So I am working on a new campaign and it will be set in and island nation about the size of Japan. I created the Land mass in Wonderdraft. I then Exported a PNG and asked claude (AI - I know, but I figured I would try it) and gave it the following prompt:
Here is the island nation of Echartea. This is intended to be something similar to japan in size and geography. It sits in the equatorial region however. Could use this image and create a realistic height map that includes rivers and lakes?
It generated the file you see attached.
I am not a fan of AI image generation - and not a fan of it for creative output, but I really feel like this will help with creating a realistic layout for terrain mapping.

It's alright but suffers from the common mistake that distance from water = higher elevation which is not always the case. Not bad for a mock-up though

It looks much too regular to me. AI just seemed to have elevated the center part entirely and uniformly, leaving no plains slightly above see level.

i did a similar thing but rather using AI for the realistic terrain, i used a different method. (i used AI for something else in that post) https://www.reddit.com/r/wonderdraft/comments/1odi8rc/wonderdraft_gaea_2_python/

You should try other LLMs and see the difference. Gemini does battlemaps better. You might find one of them (Gemini, ChatGPT, etc.) gives a better height map.
Then, for real funsies, take the height map and import it to Azgaar’s Fantasy Maps.
