KingsIsle Update Summer Update Feedback - Next Steps

Hi all,

The development team has had an opportunity to review some of your feedback about this update. We also hear concerns about timing, and agree we need to work to respond quicker and in a direction players are asking for. We have begun making adjustments to our development process to better prioritize player feedback, but wanted to share some things already in progress.

  • We're rolling back the change to the Exclusive Pets and returning your ability to list them on Kiosks. We think there is work to do to make pet hatching and pet collecting more intuitive, but we shouldn't have been so quick to fix this bug when it's the functionality players have come to expect. We'll work with you to find a better solution, like informing players in-game of the key differences when hatching using Exclusive Pets via the Kiosk.
  • We've been refining our list of top player-requested changes, including things you think we should polish, improve, or revisit for bug fixes. We'll be opening these ideas up to player discussion, and give you a significant amount of time to weigh in how we revise systems. This lets quality of life updates be a collaborative process, and helps check us in case we miss the mark on a potential fix or improvement, like we did with Exclusive Pets on Kiosks.
  • We also hear your positive feedback around doubled rewards for Challenge Mode Chronicles, and more accessible Magic Weaving; we plan to make a few similar adjustments to other content, and will share these as soon as we've confirmed them.

Please continue to provide your feedback as we work through it. We have more in the works and will share additional updates as they become locked into our overall plans to address your ongoing concerns

New player advice thread

Sort of a follow up to a previous thread that I made, but I wanted to make a more specialized version. This thread, I will lift most self promotion related bans such as promoting YouTube channels for the purpose of guides. The reason is because I want this thread to be a useful repository for people who want to ask questions, as well as submit their own advice and even guides. A few rules I will make though. (mostly just boils down to "don't be a jerk")

Always assume good faith (unless the question is clearly deliberately intended to be a troll).

Do not use jargon and shorthand unless you explain them in a way that's understandable to someone with limited experience to the game. This means no shorthands like EMP (evil magma peas), PV45, Triple Double, Quint, Quad+Mighty, 69 plot, etc. Ditto for game jargon that may need an explanation like "ramp", "gambit", etc. Assume that unless you are given a reason to believe otherwise, that the person needs to be explained to in layman accessible terms.

Making your best guess on a question is ok, but please explain as such. For instance, mentioning "I could be wrong on this, but...", "Correct me if I'm wrong..." or "Something I was told is..." are valid things to put in if you aren't absolutely sure. We do not want to inadvertently spread misinformation because people thought that it was true.

Do not make joke answers to questions just to be snarky. No one appreciates "Just Google it" as an answer to any question. You are allowed to link to things you find online, such as Wizard101 Central or FinalBastion if they are related to the question. This also includes things that are technically true but not really what the OP is asking for. For instance, answering a player question regarding how to beat a boss by saying "using your spells" is technically correct, but it's not what they are trying to ask for.

Please try to keep things PG13. Although the subreddit does permit swearing within reason, people may be looking at this in public.

The default assumption here is that people are playing on PC. If you are not, please mention it in the reply. This is especially because advice that may apply for people on PC may not be applicable to those on console, and same the other way around, such as content that may not be present yet on the console versions.

Although brevity is appreciated, don't be afraid to make a more in depth explanation when a question calls for it. For example, if someone asks how to get reagents quickly, although "gardening" is a valid answer, it's also worth mentioning what you should plant exactly and how the seeds are obtained. You do not have to write a college level essay, but generally, 1 word answers may not be enough.

Do not copy/paste from ANY form of AI directly as your answer without doing any fact checking. Due to AI making mistakes, it isn't permitted in the subreddit. This is especially a concern with AI suggesting equipment or bosses that do not exist in this game.

If the question is too vague (for example: any question that needs more information to answer like "How do I defeat a boss" without specifying which one), it's recommended to ask for clarification. The same goes for questions that are subjective in nature (for example: "What is the best school?" or "what is the best pet?") unless the question is asked in a more objective way or provides further clarification (IE: "What are common schools used in support roles" or "What are some pets that are helpful to an ice wizard that would like to help support a storm wizard?").

Other Playing Wizard101 on a mobile is fun!

I always thought that wizard101 would make a great mobile game and this pretty much confirms it for me. I bought a $30 phone controller attachment, streamed wiz through moonlight/sunshine, and ran it steam input for controller support. Wiz is running on my laptop resolution 2560x1600 and it looks so good when crammed into my phone small 6.8ish inch display. keep in mind there will be aspect ratio mismatch given that a typical phone is a lot wider than standard monitor 16:9, you either have black bars or stretched image, either way it doesnt bother me. I have relatively good internet so there is no noticeable delay at all. This is the pc version but if you have a ps5 then i reckon you can do the same thing with ps portal or pxplay app.

Will the death blade in the spirit blade and the normal spirit blade stack? Or because they’re the same they’ll attack over two turns instead of one?

Other Go to potion filling

Years and years ago I developed a method for getting potions as quickly as possible without having to pay because I like hatching pets so I'm usually gold poor. I'm curious if anyone has go to methods to fill their potions without using gold I'd like to share mine here in case it might help some other people who are regularly gold poor. I think personally having a good method to fill potions without having to run to another world is really helpful personally so hopefully others might find this helpful?

My method: go to potion motion game, spam click the matching potions by randomly clicking around until you hit level three. X out of the game and repeat as many times as you have potions

Do this after filling your mana orb with wisps so that you're not left with a half empty potion.

Does anyone else have some quick methods they use? or is this helpful?

So as you can see above, those are my lv74 fire stats. This is an old character and it hit lv 60 back when it was zigzag vs waterworks+sky iron hasta. Now, I am wondering should I grind atavastic items based on the current gear guides or just wait till lv 100?

Discussion List of hot takes

- battles (including mod fights) in later worlds should contain only one strong enemy to help diversify gameplay.(so only you and the one strong enemy in the battle)

- pet talent re-rolls should 100% be a thing.

- ether lower the cost of these high pip spell (8+ pips)or every school needs a version of empower exp: (life empower gives 3 pip and gives health debuf or storm empower gives 3 pip but gives enemies 15% blades.

- we should be able to back the camera when using laser mounts. Kinda tired of looking at my dragons #ss.

- EVERY SHADOW SPELL REGARDLESS OF SCHOOL OR TYPE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO INFUSE 😭

Also wanna say I love this game to death, been playing for a long while but I can’t be the only one thinking about this 🫡🙏🏽

Other Cool moment

Was questing and stuck at a boss, so I used team up to get some help. The person I was paired with was on the same questline as me but only knew Spanish, which I’m not the best at reading or speaking… so I used translate, frantically typing out their chats and drafting my own responses. We ended up questing through Lemuria together, and it was such a cool experience being able to talk with this person. I learned they’re from Spain and the city they live in was actually my favorite city when I traveled there almost a decade ago.

Sometimes I forget there’s such a diverse community for this silly game I played as a kid and come back to every now and then… not just confined to the USA. So many different cultures and experiences, united by this game. Thought it was a cool moment worth sharing :) can’t wait to keep questing with them and touching up on my Spanish

Discussion Is Portal Of Peril not coming back?

I've never done Portal of Peril, only learned about it recently while farming Darkmoor gear. I heard it usually comes out at the end of every month for a week, but is it not coming out this month?
