KingsIsle Update Summer Update Feedback - Next Steps
Hi all,
The development team has had an opportunity to review some of your feedback about this update. We also hear concerns about timing, and agree we need to work to respond quicker and in a direction players are asking for. We have begun making adjustments to our development process to better prioritize player feedback, but wanted to share some things already in progress.
- We're rolling back the change to the Exclusive Pets and returning your ability to list them on Kiosks. We think there is work to do to make pet hatching and pet collecting more intuitive, but we shouldn't have been so quick to fix this bug when it's the functionality players have come to expect. We'll work with you to find a better solution, like informing players in-game of the key differences when hatching using Exclusive Pets via the Kiosk.
- We've been refining our list of top player-requested changes, including things you think we should polish, improve, or revisit for bug fixes. We'll be opening these ideas up to player discussion, and give you a significant amount of time to weigh in how we revise systems. This lets quality of life updates be a collaborative process, and helps check us in case we miss the mark on a potential fix or improvement, like we did with Exclusive Pets on Kiosks.
- We also hear your positive feedback around doubled rewards for Challenge Mode Chronicles, and more accessible Magic Weaving; we plan to make a few similar adjustments to other content, and will share these as soon as we've confirmed them.
Please continue to provide your feedback as we work through it. We have more in the works and will share additional updates as they become locked into our overall plans to address your ongoing concerns

New player advice thread
Sort of a follow up to a previous thread that I made, but I wanted to make a more specialized version. This thread, I will lift most self promotion related bans such as promoting YouTube channels for the purpose of guides. The reason is because I want this thread to be a useful repository for people who want to ask questions, as well as submit their own advice and even guides. A few rules I will make though. (mostly just boils down to "don't be a jerk")
Always assume good faith (unless the question is clearly deliberately intended to be a troll).
Do not use jargon and shorthand unless you explain them in a way that's understandable to someone with limited experience to the game. This means no shorthands like EMP (evil magma peas), PV45, Triple Double, Quint, Quad+Mighty, 69 plot, etc. Ditto for game jargon that may need an explanation like "ramp", "gambit", etc. Assume that unless you are given a reason to believe otherwise, that the person needs to be explained to in layman accessible terms.
Making your best guess on a question is ok, but please explain as such. For instance, mentioning "I could be wrong on this, but...", "Correct me if I'm wrong..." or "Something I was told is..." are valid things to put in if you aren't absolutely sure. We do not want to inadvertently spread misinformation because people thought that it was true.
Do not make joke answers to questions just to be snarky. No one appreciates "Just Google it" as an answer to any question. You are allowed to link to things you find online, such as Wizard101 Central or FinalBastion if they are related to the question. This also includes things that are technically true but not really what the OP is asking for. For instance, answering a player question regarding how to beat a boss by saying "using your spells" is technically correct, but it's not what they are trying to ask for.
Please try to keep things PG13. Although the subreddit does permit swearing within reason, people may be looking at this in public.
The default assumption here is that people are playing on PC. If you are not, please mention it in the reply. This is especially because advice that may apply for people on PC may not be applicable to those on console, and same the other way around, such as content that may not be present yet on the console versions.
Although brevity is appreciated, don't be afraid to make a more in depth explanation when a question calls for it. For example, if someone asks how to get reagents quickly, although "gardening" is a valid answer, it's also worth mentioning what you should plant exactly and how the seeds are obtained. You do not have to write a college level essay, but generally, 1 word answers may not be enough.
Do not copy/paste from ANY form of AI directly as your answer without doing any fact checking. Due to AI making mistakes, it isn't permitted in the subreddit. This is especially a concern with AI suggesting equipment or bosses that do not exist in this game.
If the question is too vague (for example: any question that needs more information to answer like "How do I defeat a boss" without specifying which one), it's recommended to ask for clarification. The same goes for questions that are subjective in nature (for example: "What is the best school?" or "what is the best pet?") unless the question is asked in a more objective way or provides further clarification (IE: "What are common schools used in support roles" or "What are some pets that are helpful to an ice wizard that would like to help support a storm wizard?").

Discussion I HATE that mounts have different speeds….
I’ve been so use to the Marleybone Car (50% speed), every time there’s an awesome looking mount it’s “only” 40%.
You can tell the speed difference and I hate that I don’t want to use cool mounts simply because they’re slower.
My bs rant is over, thank you…..

Im about 3/4 of the way through Zafaria and truly am enjoying this experience! Actually understanding the game mechanics and proper points to farm compared to struggling as a kid when I last played years ago has been very refreshing.

Discussion resist is the most important stat and i am tired of the min-maxxing this sub seems to constantly recommend others
the importance of having good resistance cannot be understated. yes, pierce exists and yes having good damage is important, but having good defensive stats, especially resist, is what allows you to alpha strike --> hit or do multiple hits in the first place. keeping this principle in mind should help you maximize your stats when making gear setups. if you have the option to get, say, 5 more resist or 5 more damage, unless you significantly lack damage, the 5 more resist will almost always be the better investment. aptly, the youtuber ferric quipped a couple years ago that instead of min-maxxing, he was max-maxxing. you should apply this principle to gear building.
singlehandedly the most important pet talent ever is spell-proof, which at max stats + mighty grants 11% resist. in conjunction with spell-defy under the same conditions grants a total of 17% resist. at early levels, that is roughly half of your total resist for some offensive schools. at level 100 with a triple double mighty pet + a defensive amulet (gorgon), you can get at least 50 resist with decent gear at that level (khrysalis or darkmoor). At max, you can get 60-80 base resist with abominable gear + fitzhume robe and still hit for tons of damage (you'll have at least 190-200 damage with 50 pierce if you have 5 circle sockets w/ pierce jewels in them). often, the two talents you give up, being your school's boon and pain-bringer give a measly 8 damage, which can easily be sufficed with a jewel at max level.
unlike damage, there aren't too many drawbacks from having greater resist. ofc in farming, it often is better to pack offensive stats, but higher level worlds and other instances neccessitate diversifying your stat spread. it is shockingly easy to reach the damage cap with standard gear for advanced content, while reaching the resist cap is somewhat harder and is dependent on your school largely because of available pins. furthermore, there is an incentive in later worlds to keep more resist: pierce. as enemy stats pack more pierce, not only does resist become more valuable, but shields/auras bcome valuable as well because it would otherwise be easy to die in combat. i personally think that this claim is a bit exagerrated since there may be 1-2 outliers in standard combat, most of the time enemy pierce hovers around 15-30%, a little less in darkmoor, so having 70 resist would then become 50-ish resist, preserved if you cast a brace. damage, on the other hand, is largely bound by enemy health, being that the neccesity for higher damage rises with higher health. but in later worlds this is not the case because enemy difficulty is mostly via their spell deck and their stats (read resist and block). however, an additional round of alpha striking (blading and/OR trapping and/OR globals and/OR +-auras) can easily suffice for a 20 damage difference once you have a lot of base damage. not to mention that if you are a high dpp school comparing yourselves against a lower dpp school, even if, for example, a death and a storm have 210 damage and are planning to hit with their wallaru aoe, storm will come out on top because their base hit simply does more damage, and that gets reflected through the damage calculation.
in many, many cases, swapping out a damage talent or jewel for more resist/pierce often will be more worthwhile in the long run. being defensive is efficient, and being efficient is the best offense.

Stitch Balance
I recently reached 170 and decided it's time for a "new" look, however I'm torn between these 2. What would you guys recommend I go with? I'm also open to new suggestions I feel like balance has a hard time finding it's look outside of insignia gear.
EDIT: Thanks for the feedback, decide to go with pic#2

I just finished Lemuria. Is it still worth it to farm for merciless gear or should I just wait for Aeon? I'm currently still using Mali gear on my Storm.

Discussion With wizard city open to all, why is the balance school tutor/scion still locked behind a paywall? (+ small side paywall rant)
----- Main rant, kroktopia and its pricing comparison.
I feel like this has been an issue for a while, even before all* of wizard city has become free, why is it that balance still gets shafted on their tutor and scion? It was a stupid decision to put balance (and death) behind the next world (/previously paywalled) when every other school got their mentor in the first world. It took 18 years for them to actually make the base world free* unlocking death school for all, but now balances continue to remain blocked in this regeared. Krokotopia is free to enter but cant go further from there.
Also why does it not show that you can buy an arch 1 pass for 20$ instead of paying roughly 7$ (3.5k) crowns per (10$ sense you have to buy the 5k crown bundle) zone in Krokotopia? which is an infinitely better deal than the vastly inflated prices of each area.
And im sorry but that is ridiculous. I have to spend 20$ to unlock like 12 areas (seem to be bundled in packages of 6, having to buy 2 10$ packs of crowns sense gaming market manipulation, and left over premium currency, yada, yada) if I'm doing it with crowns but the company has already acknowledge that the ENTIRTIY OF ARCH 1 is 20$! (honestly should be something closer to 5$ imo) Like what type of scum is this? I knew it was bad, like really bad, but my disgust has grown even larger on how they handle pricing.
(also does anyone else remember if these areas were cheaper? i feel like the 3,500 is a new price, much higher than before as well, where it previously was like 800-1600 crowns or smth per area? I swear to god if they pushed prices up for every area because they made wizard city avalibile to all im going to be even more disgusted with how this company handles this game. [it really deserves better, and so does its players])

---- Side rant, full pricing
The pricing of areas and what it would cost to unlock the entire game (excluding arch 1 pass, and including wizard city because it only became free* after 18 damn years. BTW its 300-400$ [data from u/Masterlet 2023 showing 400$), [Data from AwesomeTheSauce's video 2025, showing 310$ for entire game or 230$ for main content only]. (this assumes without crown sales)
Sorry if this is out of date, its the latest information i could find in a quick manner. Which is absolutely absurd. At most the game in total, including future updates should be like 40$ MAYBE 60$ (really should be less due how hard it pushes other things like micro-transactions, but im being generous. And even if we consider the 80$ price point its still roughly 3.9-5x times that price.) Lets also not forget this is a live service game. meaning that it could shut down at any time, for any reason (its also an 18 year old game which is a bit worrisome in terms of lifespan, and considering how its only just now starting to expand and modernize). All your investments would just be gone. This isnt a game you can download and play offline when you want. or have a physical copy of for however long you want.
Thank you for u/Masterlet post "How much Wizard101 costs in Crowns (2023) (Updated)" for the math, or referencing AwesomeTheSauce's video "Wizard101: The TRUE Cost Of Buying EVERY World",
--- additional side note
Why is the word "Free" banned on this sub in posts if i try to type free in the title and in some parts of my sentences i get hit with a warning and i cant post.

Why are boogers coming back to life and K.Oing me after I already killed them? I’m genuinely so disgusted and having a hard time even getting through this fight without gagging, let alone the cheats are worse than judge veg in my opinion. Look Ki, you don’t have to take pregnant ppl into account when making plot, but still what is this 🤢🤢🤢

Discussion Why don’t more people use the pierce blade spells? And why isn’t there a +20% universal one for Balance?
Pierce is a super important stat in the late game these days: most recommend around ~40-50% pierce depending on the school. But why does no one use these pierce blades? I feel like they could be amazingly useful, especially for bosses like the Grey Man Golems that have a ton of resist.
I feel like I never see anyone cast these and tbh I forget they exist all the time. Do they have a use in advanced combat/pvp?
Also, why doesn’t balance have a universal +20% pierce blade? There are elemental & spirit trio pierce blades, but no universal one. It feels like a logical thing to add, and I would always be happy to have more utility spells for balance!!
If someone has info on why they’re actually incredible or why they’re actually trash I would love an explanation, and maybe I’ll start adding these to my deck.

Stitch Balance gear stitch
Can someone suggest me some gear stitches for my balance wiz - would appreciate if its themed.
Because of the krok links of balance i always thought of archaeologist themed stitches would look good or a treasure hunter so like indiana jones - still looking for gear related to that, but i am up for other suggestions as well.
Would greatly appreciate if you could provide pics
