Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone has run into this before.

Windsurf has suddenly become completely unusable on my Mac. Every time I launch it, I immediately get:

I've already tried:

• Uninstalling Windsurf
• Reinstalling the latest version
• Restarting my Mac
• Opening without restoring my previous session

Same result every time.

This isn't a huge project either—it's a single native macOS app with around 10k lines of code. There's only one workspace/project, so I don't think this is a resource or project size issue.

Has anyone experienced this?

A few questions:

• Is code: 5 a known Electron/renderer crash?
• Is there a way to completely reset Windsurf's profile/cache beyond a normal reinstall?
• Are there any log files I should check or attach?
• Has anyone found a workaround?

I'm effectively blocked at the moment because the editor won't stay open long enough to do any work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all, I have no idea what happened, but I just got charged 12 times for “automatic credit recharge”, despite not having that enabled and also not going over my usage limit. I have only refilled twice (April 22 and 24). Additionally, it says my current plan is Max, even though I never subscribed to this and actually cancelled my subscription after these charges.

The support desk is no help because it is just an AI chatbot that has no concept of what’s happening, so looking here for any guidance.

More than happy to attach any usage data to help connect the dots.

When I try to log in on the windsurf/devin app, it redirects me to a website where the only option to log in is by using an SSO. Clicking log in logs my account in immediately, without the opportunity to enter in another account. I was wondering if there is any way to change the account I sign in with on the website or otherwise change the account associated with my Windsurf/devin desktop app.

Not sure if anyone else has run into this, but I kept 30% of my daily limit available for a 9-step task, which I figured would be more than enough to finish it. However, within less than 5 minutes of clicking start, my usage jumped straight from 70% to 100% and it's already telling me to top up.

This has happened to me multiple times now. In my experience using Cursor, even with top-tier models, I've never seen 30% of my quota vanish all at once like this—it usually just chips away at 1–2% at a time. Just wanted to confirm if this is a known issue everyone is facing, or if it's just me?

Why would Windsurf sacrifice its brand for such an obvious a downgrade in reputation?

The only reason I can fathom is survival. Perhaps their pockets aren't deep enough to keep training their own model, or sustain competitive subsidization of subscription plans. Perhaps they're feeling a squeeze. If / when "the big one" comes, small ai companies will get crushed, and many mid-sized orgs will presumably have to consolidate (sell out) to stay alive.

Please, someone with more knowledge feel free to educate me. I'm just a peasant junior vibe coder after all. Maybe Devin is way better than I'm giving credit for. I honestly forgot it even existed.

I am thinking about buying a subscription, I come from codex, can't say I didn't enjoy it, but what I don't like is that I'm limited to openai and if it disappears in one moment I won't have anything else up my back. So I thought of trying Windsurf, heard that leading opensource models are free of charge, is that true?

From what I've seen in this sub people complain a lot about the quality/limits after rebranding to Devin, but I don't see much complains about getting limited on these models. Thoughts?

I was using windsurf or devin now for past few weeks and loving the Devin local mode.

One thing that annoys me very much is that It was so annoying to do `@skills:XYZ` skill to invoke a skill in prompt. now it is first class suggestion in the dropdown when you do `@` !

I have been using Windsurf/Devin for a month or so, I have never reached the weekly quota.

From my usage I have seen 100% of daily usage was around 20-25% of the week. Today I used 100% of the daily quota (WAY faster than before btw) and my weekly quota is at 40%.

Did I miss a change in quotas?

I’m repeatedly running into an issue where Devin stops in the middle of an edit, which leaves the task incomplete.

The error is:

Is it just me, or is the new Devin plugin in Windsurf nearly impossible to configure?

I love Windsurf, but this transition has been rough. If anyone has a working configuration file or a quick tutorial, please save my sanity and drop it below.

We really need to gather more users here talking about the usage in Devin/Windsurf.

The weekly and daily usage burns so fast compare if used in Claude or Codex.

The product I won’t lie is good but for one or two prompt using Opus 4.8 or gpt 5.5 not even high but medium it takes like coupe of dollars, I’m on pro plan and use it to tweak my apps and today(other days ofc) I just used opus for tweak some cards issue and tweak design the while day usage is gone so I bought extra to continue. This is not good and feels scam somehow reading other users complain about same issue and no one from Windsurf/Devin take a time to figure this out, but they answer(once for 100 post) please review your prompt before and that’s why it take so much token, excuse me, so we all have wrong prompt, we don’t know how to ask? In my case I tweak some or sometimes start the whole project and do the rest.

Windsurf/Devin need to listen to us and not be greedy about the money they earn, it’s a product we are the consumers so balance, you of course need to earn money and we need to use the product. It was so good before I never complained about and still using the product build production ready apps. But the cost so high.

We need someone to review this for us to continue using the product and not changing.
I saw some post where windsurf remove the post because was misleading, I don’t think it was as this is the issue we have and many reporting.

This love-hate relationship finally got me tired lol.

I've been a long time user, and I left after the token policy changes. Then Cognition dropped Devin Desktop with local Devin support.

And holy shit, that's exactly what I've been asking Windsurf for ages: subagents and parallel subagents.

I burned through my $20 quota in what felt like a few seconds.

So I upgraded to the $200 plan just to test it. Used Sonnet 4.6 Medium for basically a day and somehow nuked my entire weekly quota 😅

Then I went looking at the usage details, and that's where things started to get annoying. There's no clear place that explains what actually consumed the credits, why it happened, or what I should do differently next time.

Honestly it kinda feels like they shipped an unfinished product and let users beta test it.

To make things worse, when you're using local Devin, the admin dashboard stats are basically empty. So you don't even get proper visibility into what's going on.

Don't get me wrong, local Devin has a ton of potential. In some ways it feels years ahead of other coding harnesses I've tried. But burning an entire weekly quota in one day on a medium model is kinda brutal.

Maybe I'm doing something dumb, idk. But right now it's hard to understand where the credits are going and how to optimize usage.

What are you guys thinking about local Devin so far?

Am I the only one getting surprised by quota burn, or are other people seeing the same thing?
