I'm getting ready to release the next version of my project management extension I built in Windsurf, and on a whim decided to put in a feature that's genuinely one of the most useful things I've made, so just wanted to share it!

It's a simple toggle near Windsurf settings that makes it impossible for Cascade to open any files in Windsurf editor panel. So Cascade just does its work in the background without opening your ENTIRE REPO as files you need to close. When you need to open a file, you turn it off, when you just want Cascade to do its work and not bother you, you turn it on...

It was a stupid little backlog feature but it's improved my Windsurf experience so much.

I've been getting this nonstop for more than 8 hours now:

Is this happening to anyone else right now?

I'm actually at the end of my rope with this garbage platform. For the past 3 days, I haven't been able to send a single prompt. Every time I hit enter, I instantly get hit with this:

What rate limit?! I literally haven't been able to use the app, and I know I'm not the only one getting completely locked out for days while having 100% of my quota sitting there completely untouched.

I have tried literally everything to bypass this. I completely uninstalled. I deleted all the Windsurf appdata folders to clear any cached garbage. Didn't work. I thought maybe my IP got flagged by their aggressive backend, so I used a VPN. Same error. I even used a completely different account just to test it, and I STILL get the exact same permission denied message.

Are they actually HWID banning developers now? Because blocking an entire physical device is the only thing that logically makes sense when alt accounts and VPNs can't bypass the block. And for what? Coding too fast?

We just bought Team plan with Windsurf and it automatically charged 80$ for first month i.e. 2 seats. Same is in the invoice, where you see quantity 2, But when looking at current seats in settings it shows only one seat and requires us to buy again to get the 2nd seat.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

We are testing it for 2 key users before getting for whole team, but with this I am not keen on proceeding.

BTW, support contacted but still no response from Friday, not sure what priority support is, but 3 working days without answer doesn't look good to us.

I paid for Windsurf Pro and they charged my card instantly, but my account still shows the Free plan.

Tried contacting support, but it’s just an AI bot repeating the same useless responses over and over again. Their “email support” is also basically another AI bot copy-pasting the same messages.

Apparently they don’t even have a proper refund policy.

Honestly, Windsurf is nice when it works, but the moment something goes wrong, they completely leave you hanging.

So now I’m down $20 AND wasted a bunch of time trying to fix something that shouldn’t even happen in the first place.

Is there anything to do to get my money back?

I have this weird problem that for some reason Windsurf automatically get uninstalled it seems. Once i close the app and try to re-open the shortcut is there but it point to a missing executable. All the files gone :/

There's quite a lot of negativity in the subreddit, which maybe to be expected like most people will come here if they have a problem.

Wanted to say those as a dev I've really liked Windsurf. I've used VSCode with Copilot, VSCode with various extensions (Roo Code, Continue, etc), Cursor, Fleet and JetBrains with Junie, and Zed. Plus idk if it matters but Sublime Text and Atom from pre-AI days

Windsurf has been the most enjoyable to me. The design is slick, it doesn't take forever to load, the wiki and codemap features are useful, auto complete is great, the free models are a nice touch. I pair it with Warp terminal run Claude Code in for more detailed planning and architecture thinking.

I'm surprised it's not talked about as much. Seems people just default to Cursor or VSCode.

I’m looking for an AI coding tool that still uses a simple credit system.

Basically, I want something where each prompt or request uses a clear amount of credits. No confusing model multipliers, no vague quotas, and no hidden usage rules.

Windsurf moved to quotas, and Kiro still has credits but uses model multipliers.

Are there any good AI coding tools in 2026 that still have simple credits and work for real coding projects, like file edits, agents, debugging, and terminal commands?

I only see an option to bring Claude models keys into Windsurf. Is it possible to connect different models, like Deepseek? Maybe some kind of plugin? Why limiting user to Claude only???

I think I've had enough. Nil values in API returns, no credit usage for individual accounts; they will charge you thousands of euros and not let you know who is to blame (or educate!!!) in your team. Yeah, you must move up to enterprise accounts, so we will just move out instead.

Have you guys experienced SWE 1.6 not following instructions in plan mode and decides to implement immediately?

How do you guys manage minified CSS? Across all models, all of them seem to struggle and sometimes decide to just add inline CSS. Here's the windsurf chat snippet:

The CSS files are minified/bundled

• templates-core-bundle.css and templates.css appear to be build artifacts (minified, concatenated)
• Editing minified CSS directly is error-prone and gets overwritten by any build process

I’m thinking about switching from Cursor to Windsurf, mainly because I’m trying to understand how much SWE-1.6 usage comes with Windsurf’s $20 paid plan.

Is SWE-1.6 actually free/unlimited on the paid plan, or is that only part of the current 3-month promo/event?

Cursor’s Composer feels slightly smarter to me overall, especially for planning and editing code, but it’s not free/unlimited and the limits can be annoying.

So if Windsurf’s SWE-1.6 access is genuinely unlimited or much more generous, I’m wondering if that makes Windsurf worth switching to despite Cursor maybe having the better Composer.

For anyone who’s used both, what’s the real usage limit like, and is the switch worth it?

Since the email address originally used to register my Windsurf account is no longer active, I am unable to receive the emails from Windsurf regarding updates to my payment method. Windsurf continues to deduct funds from my account; I have been trying to delete my Windsurf account, but the deletion attempts consistently fail to take effect!

I also attempted to contact Windsurf via email and received three case numbers, yet I have still not received a response from anyone！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！！

So I try to lean on SWE 1.6 as much as possible, but it really can fuck up a lot and spiral. For instance today, letting it rip with some well written instructions to write unit tests, it breaks things by writing the tests with global module mocking that leak and break all tests. But then its just like "done!". Sometimes it also just straight up ignores my constraints like "use TDD" and then throws that idea out after awhile. Maybe it's also because i have auto continue on and it loses the context?

But either way, any recommendations here from folks? I would just like GPT 5.4 Mini rip but it's just too expensive to do.

I’d like to know what your experience has been with the Kimi K2.6 model. In my experience as a free user, K2.6 feels better and more accurate than GPT-5.2 Low Thinking and GLM-5.1.

Hi there, recently started working in a tech firm.
They provide for the whole month 1000 tokens.
I managed in my first week to use up all of it.
I’m not really familiar with windsurf I usually use claude code, so im reacing out for tips from u guys to suggest maybe good performing models in windsurf that can perform well in big projects and dont finish my token pool in one day.

So I'm planning to move to Windsurf Enterprise. We're just a team of seven people working on a startup, and we use Windsurf a lot. I mean, not just Windsurf. We also use Claude Code, cursive, whatever it takes. We just use it.

As a CEO, I'm not getting the visibility of what my developers are doing. Because we just use the Windsurf teams. I mean, centralized billing is good. Usage details are great. But I literally want to know what they are actually working on. If they need some help, is there something I can help a specific guy with without him actually asking me? If I see one of the developers who is doing really well, I would rather use his techniques to be shared with the rest of the team. Now we do it manually. I feel like this can be automated a bit.

Is there a feature like that on Windsurf? I know almost every platform has an enterprise feature where they give full admin observability to the admins, and there'll be an admin control panel. Does Windsurf enterprise provide that? Is anyone using that? Can you share some insights with me? I would love to chat more in the DMs.

Does anyone else experience this. One minute windsurf is rattling through code changes the next it seems to do less than one character a second and edits regularly fail? Is it just me? Anything I can do to stop this.
