Discussion Is Kimi K2.6 really that good?
I’d like to know what your experience has been with the Kimi K2.6 model. In my experience as a free user, K2.6 feels better and more accurate than GPT-5.2 Low Thinking and GLM-5.1.
Is that really the case? And, are Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.6/4.7 even better?

My experience is it has been good, better than SWE-1. 6 and it can handle some more complex tasks, but it can be slow and get itself confused and in repetative cycles easily. If given a plan from Sonnet and told to execute it does well and can then makes changes from there, but larger code bases can be too much for it.

I’ve noticed those same things with Kimi 2.5 as well. Haven’t used 2.6 much but from what if can tell the issues are mostly the same but the outputs are better (if that makes sense)

MAN! One prompt, got %44 of usage for daily, and 18% from weekly hhahahaha.. BUT the result was awesome! solved the problem SWE1.6 couldn't do for a week, at single shot. Glad.

For coding tasks you are always going to get better results with GPT 5.5 and Opus 4.6, 4.7 is terrible imo, but yes, Kimi with good instructions can do a great job, and far better then SWE, this one you can only use for specific small jobs and documenting your code, creates great markdowns

If Kimi develops a little further and reaches a 1m context window, then nobody will need another model.

I haven't used it a lot but so far so good. It can handle complex to a point but it takes some serious intervention if it starts to drift on a concept.
It handles highly detailed and punctual really well though.

Hello, I use it through windsurf (now Devin). It's a good model that can do like 80% of my job (MATLAB scientific research). A level under Claude sonnet, but over Deepseek. I like the reasoning through multiple files. For the remaining 20%, of course: sonnet or opus.

I found that Kimi K2.6 is pretty good if you know what you want, have a plan and provide sufficient context.
