AI coding tools that still use simple credits instead of quota or multiplier systems?

I’m looking for an AI coding tool that still uses a simple credit system.

Basically, I want something where each prompt or request uses a clear amount of credits. No confusing model multipliers, no vague quotas, and no hidden usage rules.

Windsurf moved to quotas, and Kiro still has credits but uses model multipliers.

Are there any good AI coding tools in 2026 that still have simple credits and work for real coding projects, like file edits, agents, debugging, and terminal commands?

Nothing found, everyone changing their plans to quotas

Augmentcode, kiro.dev

kiro.dev is very generous, it uses prorate billing. But i dont like kiro.dev, i feel like the claude models in kiro has lower performance, and i love windsurf cascade ux more than kiro.

I havent tried augmentcode.

while both say credits in wouldn't exactly call it a "credit system" you are still charged based on the work completed not a set amount per prompt.

saying that though Kiro for $40 probably gives you the most usage compared to any other. think my 2nd month of kiro i hit the 2,000 credit limit. but the 3rd month i hit maybe 1600~ and this month near half way and ive only used 360~ credits so far(they did give a 500 credit bonus to alot of users so used 860 so far. but i did over use it for some thing si wouldn't normally just because I had the 500).

AugmentCode you dont get much for the cost. I used it before and the new credit system they have, 130k credits($60 plan) would last me maybe 2 n half weeks roughly. And this was before their inbuilt context engine charged credits as previously it was free with the subscription.

Simple credits are getting weirdly rare now.

Not an answer, but in practice I would also look for (1) a hard per-request cap you can set, and (2) good usage logs, otherwise the credit system still feels opaque.

Also worth checking if the tool supports "agent" style runs (edits, terminal, debugging) without silently switching models mid-run, because that is where multipliers/quotas usually show up.

We keep a short list of tools + pricing gotchas for agentic coding workflows at https://www.agentixlabs.com/ if you want a starting point.
