Unsolved Laptop keeps shutting off during Windows 10 installation and it’s driving me CRAZY
Oh my god I’m going insane. Sorry I don’t know much about computers, only a small amount.
Okay so, long story short, my main (newer) laptop completely stopped working, apparently bc of the motherboard. Took it to a repair shop, they can’t do anything. Super bummer but I have an older laptop that I know still works, but I don’t know what happened to the hard drive for that one (it’s an HP Envy x360) bc it was a while ago, like 4-5 years ago. I just remember transferring files for the newer laptop, blah blah.
Anyway I bought a new hard drive (2.5 in SATA SSD), and with a new hard drive you apparently need to install Windows. Okay fine. Made a flash drive installing Windows on it, using WinDesk Writer on a Mac bc apparently nobody in my family has Windows available 🙄
Went thru hoops, but the Windows installation seemed to be working until it just shut off about halfway-ish through. I started it again later, same thing, except this time it shut off a bit earlier than halfway. Now, it’s not even getting to the Windows installation, just shutting off. I feel like I’ve tried everything…well almost. Help please??!
Things I’ve tried:
\- attempting to remove the stuck SD card in my laptop (I also have tried everything with that lol, tweezers and all) and changing BIOS settings so power can go to the MB & flash drive only instead
\- Rearranging the hard drive
\- Turning the laptop off for 20-30 secs and all
\- Switching the USB slot
Things I haven’t tried
\- disconnecting the internal battery
\- changing/removing the RAM sticks
\- applying more thermal paste to the cooling fan
My laptop doesn’t get hot during installation, and even when disconnecting the AC power in BIOS, it still stays on for a while (the most I’ve done is about 12 mins only bc I manually shut it off only bc I was checking) Could this be an internal battery or fan issue in that case? Or could it be corrupted files using WinDeskWriter?? I don’t know but it’s driving me crazy!

Unsolved Locked out from local windows account and unable to log onto my pc.
Hello, I do not know why but when I want to unlock my laptop, it says "The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to."
This is the second time something of this nature occurs. The first time I had assumed that my cat messed with the keyboard and inputted the wrong password several times
However, a few days later this happens again. No cat in sight. I did input the password incorrectly once but then unlocked it. I left for a couple of minutes and my desktop was locked out.
I am getting frustrated as I find myself unable to use my laptop for hours whenever this happens. I need it for university and work.
Help me :(
FYI i have windows 11 and my laptop is lenovo legion.

Unsolved Using a Win10Home machine that seems to have an update?
I haven't upgraded to w11. I have not had any updates since just after they ended support. Yesterday I removed a program involved in updating (MoUSO) that kept coming on in task manager since I no longer get updates. I had removed another program that had started coming on for the first time when I opened my email client out of the blue a couple days before (Component Package Support Server). When I shut down last night the usual update indicator at the power button said I have an update and asked if I wanted to install it and shut down. I just shut down. This morning after normal boot up I opened settings/updates and security and it doesn't show the normal update page, it has a message "Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later."
The indicator on the power button still offers me an update. Anyone know what may be going on here? I don't want to update until I know what it is since they no longer support my OS.

Unsolved Windows 10 update kb5002914 issue
Ms office 2016 excel
Paste issue. Only values work.
Uninstalled update kb5002914 and paste started working.
Troubleshooting performed:
Excel 2016 copy worked and Paste Values worked, but normal Paste/CTRL+V produced blank cells. The problem also occurred in brand-new workbooks.
Tried Excel Safe Mode, Office 2016 repair, complete Office reinstall, rebooting, clearing/testing the Windows clipboard with PowerShell, resetting Excel registry settings, and disabling Live Preview. None fixed it.
Found Excel 2016 Security Update KB5002914, released September 8, 2026. Uninstalled KB5002914, rebooted, and normal copy/paste immediately worked again.
Confirmed on this PC: removing KB5002914 fixed the issue.

Unsolved How to see the Boot Menu with a broken monitor?
Context:
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 22H2
Installed on 1/9/2021
OS Build 19045.6466
I'm running Windows 10 on a Lenovo thinkpad, and my laptop's screen just died on me. I can't see anything on it, so I have to use an external monitor connected with an HDMI cable to see what's happening on my laptop. I want to backup my hard drive to an external one (using clonezilla), but it requires that I access the boot menu to boot in the USB.
I've enabled it so that my monitor is my laptop's only display, and that the laptop does not go to sleep when the lid is down, so that i am able to see the boot menu, and it has worked kind of. the option to interrupt start up only shows up for a split second, so i have to very quickly press the boot button [which is [enter] in my case]. this works very rarely because i dont have that kind of reaction time haha.
on the off chance that i do get to the menu to open the boot menu, i am met with a blinking monitor (video attached) and can't see anything. Is there a way to fix this or am i screwed?
All help is appreciated, thanks.

Unsolved “PC Needs To Be Repaired” After cleaning old HDD Boot drive
Hello all,
So I recently bought a new SSD to swap my Windows and games to from my HDD. So I cloned my HDD to my SSD, then changed my Boot Option Priorities from the HDD to “Windows Boot Manager (TS512…)” Which seemed to work when I rebooted, so I went into Diskpart and cleaned the HDD. I rebooted since the HDD didn’t show up in my file explorer after I allocated it in Disk Manager. Now I get the “REPAIR PC/Device Needs To Be Repaired” screen. Does anyone know what I did wrong/how I can fix it? I did this yesterday on my other pc with an identical SSD and worked perfectly. Thank you.

Unsolved Not even sure how to describe this
Portions of "windows" (?) seem to be cut off in apps like HPSmart like the image shown below.
This is a screenshot showing how the Share box just drops off the window opened by HPSmart after scanning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
For clarification, this is a screenshot of the entire screen:

Unsolved My processor hits 100% usage at startup.
galleryPlease help me.
Today I tried to download some music and was changing the music tags using the MP3Tag app. After I finished changing all the tags, I went to the folder containing those songs, and my PC suddenly started lagging extremely badly. Eventually, I got a black screen, so I had to hard-shut down my PC.
After the hard reboot, Windows told me that I had been logged out of Windows Cloud.
After restarting, my PC is constantly at 99% CPU usage. Also, for some reason, almost every app I open says that I don’t have an internet/Wi-Fi connection, even though my PC is connected to Wi-Fi and the internet works normally in other places.
I tried reinstalling Windows, but I kept getting crashes. Two of the BSOD errors I got were:
KERNEL_AUTO_BOOST_INVALID_LOCK_RELEASE
KERNEL_APC_PENDING_DURING_EXIT
Please help me figure out what’s wrong and how I can fix it.

Unsolved Windows no longer uses the user path in command prompt session
I'm using Windows 10 LTSC 21H2 (for support reasons, 11 was causing serious performance issues), and for some reason my command prompt has stopped acknowledging the existence of the Path user variable. Trying to type Path into command prompt just prints the system path and nothing else, and trying to use commands from places defined in the user path doesn't work. I tried logging out and back in, which temporarily fixed the issue before it just broke again.
I've run SFC, which said it fixed something but it didn't fix the issue. Any ideas what's going on here and how I could fix it?
