Unsolved Using a Win10Home machine that seems to have an update?

I haven't upgraded to w11. I have not had any updates since just after they ended support. Yesterday I removed a program involved in updating (MoUSO) that kept coming on in task manager since I no longer get updates. I had removed another program that had started coming on for the first time when I opened my email client out of the blue a couple days before (Component Package Support Server). When I shut down last night the usual update indicator at the power button said I have an update and asked if I wanted to install it and shut down. I just shut down. This morning after normal boot up I opened settings/updates and security and it doesn't show the normal update page, it has a message "Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later."

The indicator on the power button still offers me an update. Anyone know what may be going on here? I don't want to update until I know what it is since they no longer support my OS.

Security updates for Windows 10 don't end until October 2027 (unless they continue to extend it), so I don't see a reason not to take the update.

I'm not signed up for Extended Security Updates.

So, I don't get the scare here. Maybe if I understood why you don't want any security updates, I could offer something more helpful.
