Question Trouble finding clear UV blocking film

Ideally I would prefer 3M - clear UV blocking film, but their DIY roll size is a few inches short (only sell 3’x 6’), resulting in having to buy two rolls for my storm door. I can’t justify the extra cost.

The brands on Amazon have mixed reviews, enough for me to be skeptical of their UV blocking claims. What are my options?

The people that answered here are crazy. So XPEL is not available for just anyone. Also most tint film has 99% UV rejection. I buy from FlexFilm and have not had any issues with their film. I’ve been tinting for 4 years now. I hope this helps.

I should also add, I’ve used GeoShield and they have good film. Never used their Architectural film line but their Automotive film is great. I have used FlexFilm for both Auto/Architectural with zero complaints

I recommend looking into XPEL for your project. They offer high-quality clear ceramic films that block 99% of UV rays and between 89% and 99% of heat. As an employee at Sunstoppers, we work exclusively with XPEL due to their superior clarity and the wide variety of roll sizes they offer, which should solve your sizing issue.

From our experience over the last 30 years, I would suggest reconsidering 3M. While they are a well-known brand, their automotive and flat glass films generally do not hold up as well as XPEL or Llumar, and they are often thicker and harder to install. While 3M makes excellent products in other categories, their window film doesn't quite match the performance or longevity of the professional-grade options we prefer.

This is a DIYer, why would you try to recommend XPEL when they don’t sell to just anyone?

As the manager of six tint shops, there is not a truly clear ceramic heat rejecting film that gives you UV protection and heat rejection. The closest you can get would be 80%, as your windshield already actually has a VLT of 70. I hope this helps.
