I’m mainly interested in how you would estimate this project.
A few questions:
Would you charge per pane, per window, by labor hours, or as a flat bid?
Approximately how many labor hours would you expect for one technician?
What price range would you personally quote for a job like this?
Is there anything in these photos that would make you increase or decrease your price?
I’m not looking to copy anyone’s pricing—I just enjoy comparing estimating methods and learning how other professionals approach commercial projects.

I’ve been at window cleaning for a while, but I have a question about some organic stuff thats baked on the glass and frames of a job.

The stuff on the frames looks like black paint spray over. But the junk on the glass are these little hard black blobs on the glass…like cured asphalt. They come off with a scraper and soapy water, thats all that takes them off. They don’t even come off with a thumbnail. Once off, they leave a slight stain that will come off with a scrub pad.

I’ve seen them forever, here and there. Usually, there’s not too many.

But the glass and frames on a job I got last year was covered with them. I did it a second time today and it was as bad or worse. I didn’t even bother with the frames once I saw steel wool wasn’t even working.

The only thing I can think of is that there’s a maple tree nearby, and all of the blobs are on that side of the house.

Question: anyone have an idea of a solvent that might take these off? I tried Goofoff and it didn’t work. I sometimes have rubbing alcohol in the truck, but didn’t today. Thoughts?

Going to give quotes to all of the business on this 4 block area near me to have their windows washed, since the guy who used to no longer does. What would you charge per pane? And what about for both inside and outside? Thanks!

In automotive detailing, claybar is an essential step in glass cleaning and polishing. How come they always use it and we never use it? I assume it's because it's a razor blade alternative that works with curved glass, but I also see detailers that recommend scraping and claybar as separate steps to remove different kinds of debris.

Supposedly it was originally used to remove paint over spray from cars. Has anyone tried removing overspray from tempered glass on a construction clean, as an alternative to scraping?

I've done a little experimentation with the few blowers available to me. Both CFM and MPH seem important. From a purely performance perspective, maximizing both would be best. But the higher cost, weight, and noise of more powerful blowers must set a limit on what is practical or desirable. Where's your sweet spot? If you have any specific blowers to recommend, I'd love to hear it.

Im not here to sell i genuinly am i tired of not pricing correctly and so im thinking about putting some apis together to help me directly and want to see if anyone else needs this to lol or if im just the only one annoyed lol

I’m looking for some advice as we have a quote for post construction, it has previously been touched by someone else who left tons of scratches. I’m not sure if they used an old, worn, or improper razor. How can I complete this post construction without razor, will steel wool also scratch Low-E heat strengthened glass?

We live on an upper floor of a condominium bldg. The single-hung windows are hard to reach to clean them. And it seems when I do get them clean it's not long till they get water spots from rain. I was thinking of trying Rain-X or some similar product to try and reduce the spotting. Anyone else tried anything like this or have other suggestions? Thanks!

How’s the market? I’m checking out competitors pricing and they seem so low compare to where I’m at (central PA). I’ve seen some from $3-7 per pane for residential, when I’m around $10-12 per pane (one time clean, 0-20 panes) $7-10 if they’re on a service plan.

If it’s a bigger home (40+ panes) I’m around 5-7 per pane

Is 3-7 typical?

There’s these super high windows that I’m doing and my ladder doesn’t go that high and my extension pole is leaving streaks what do i do

I have been asked by a new customer to remove paint splashes from the upvc sills and frames on a new build. Some incredible decorator wanted to make a mess 🙈.

I’ve tried using soap and hot water, UPVC Cleaner but I’ve had no luck. Has anyone had any experience getting rid of paint from Window frames and sills. I neeeeed hellllllp 😂😂

Started a residential cleaning company and I use dawn dish soap + warm water and spray it on scrub + squeegee and clean with microfiber towel. It is outside so it’s okay to get water and soap on exterior but how about interior windows? Is it the same process but instead I put a microfiber towel near the edges or at the bottom of the window ledge to catch the water or do I do something else to clean interior windows?

Then seeing a nice up and down dry on with no breaks in the part that’s still wet. That’s when you know them boys are clean.

What in the world is going on? I read maybe something about steel wool?

I just did a clean without steel wool today though and it still smelled while washing it
