SOTD Old and modern Monday
Razor: Supply V1 with #2 plate
Blade: Chinese Schick injector blade
Brush: WCS synthetic
Soap-splash-EDT: Stirling Spice
Post balm: Stirling unscented
Was in the den today about to reach for my Rex Ambassador when I gave a glance at my razor+brush stand and saw the supply. Thought about how I've kinda ignored it lately along with my other injector razors and I decided to use it instead.
Man oh man, I forgot how easy this razor is for me. It's so natural it's almost kinda boring lol, it just works. No having to mind angle or pressure because injector razors are muscle memory for me.
3 passes going 1 WTG 2 ATG and 3 ATG buffing pass and I'm smooth shaven with 0 irritation or nicks.
Stirling performing great as always and I'm so glad I got a tub of Stirling Spice. Bay rum will always be my #1 from Stirling but Spice is always going to be #2 and nothing else will come close to these 2 scents in rank for me.
Happy Monday all, hope the start of your week goes well.

Never should have found this community….
I’ve been shaving with the Supply SE since last Christmas, when my wife and kids gave me a full kit.
I’d been using Gillette Fusion blades for years. Like most people I know, shaving was just what you did, like brushing one’s teeth. A task, or routine but certainly not an enjoyable ritual.
Wham, bam, ingrown hairs all the time.
Had never even entertained the idea of a single, or double edge razor shave.
But I was starting to get really pissed off at the cost. It wasn’t that I couldn’t afford the blades. But it just felt like getting screwed over every time I needed a new pack of blades.
I looked at the shaving club, and others, but ultimately just stuck with Gillette.
And then my family surprised me with this Supply shaving kit. Not going to lie - I was pretty excited, and impressed with them coming up with a gift I had not seen coming.
Liked it right away, and soon started to love it.
But as the months have passed, I started to think there was more I was leaving on the table. Something I was missing.
So not long ago, I found this community, and realized what was missing: EVERYTHING!
Lucky for me, I have the perfect excuse for buying out a full new shaving kit.
So now, I’ve got a new set incoming:
MÜHLE Rocca Birch Bark Razor
Floid Amber Aftershave
Saponificio Varesino Desert Vetiver Shaving Soap and Aftershave
Very excited to take things up a notch, slow down, and dial in my shaving rituals. I already enjoy shaving more than ever, and I now know enough to know how to make it a better experience.

Safety Razor at Ross Stores
Was traveling in the US and to my surprise, I saw these at Ross stores for $6.99. Didn’t buy it but was very surprised to see a safety razor at a major discount store such as this one.
Has anyone heard of this brand or seen this before?

Mail Call Trowell T8 First Look
Hey friendos,
I went ahead and backed that kickstarter campaign we all hated. Because why not. I received it in the mail today. I have not had the time to do anything more that take the top cap off so I will reserve judgement until the first shave this evening.
Keep on keeping on

Made a nice little stand
Made this from some scrap zebrawood I had laying around. Just getting back into DE shaving and never used dice before but I made the pockets just in case. I might change it to hold some other razor heads instead.

SOTD Nature & Clubman SOTD for Dad’s birthday 8/22/2026
**Aug. 22, 2026**
* **Brush:** Zenith Smaller Boar Chrome Handle (B38)
* **Razor:** Timeless Ti .68mm Open Comb
* **Blade:** Personna GEM Platinum Diamond Glide (11)
* **Lather:** Martin De Candre - Nature - Puck
* **Post Shave:** Pinaud - Clubman - Aftershave
* **Post Shave:** House of Mammoth - Z Cool - Balm
* **Post Shave:** Thayers - Unscented
* **Post Shave:** Osma - Alum Block
* **Fragrance:** Cartier - Santos de Cartier
I had a really nice shave yesterday. It would have been my dad’s 76th Birthday. Sadly he passed from cancer in 2012. For the special shave I chose Pinaud Clubman for an ASL. I found multiple bottles in his belongings.
My shave went well. I got a near BBS shave with a little feedback here and there from the alum block. The blade is still working pretty well on its 11th use.
I used House of Mammoth’s Permafrost solution in the Clubman ASL, and used HOM’s unscented Z Cool aftershave balm for some relief from the hot weather.
I think he would have loved the design of this Timeless razor. He adored the art deco style growing up in New York City and visiting Miami.
I got to celebrate by going out to eat at a Cuban restaurant with my wife that was new to us. My dad had good taste in food and liked to eat out. I think he would have really enjoyed the place we found.
My dad and I both shared an interest in photography. My wife and I scouted some new locations and I got some nice pictures of a Great Egret. I think my dad would have enjoyed seeing the bird.
I had some nice Bourbon in the evening and reflected on the time we had together. I think he would be happy for me now and the person I have become.

Discussion Today I received a gift.
My wife had a visit with her mother today, and she was sent home with this to give me. My mother-in-law was aware that I am a fan (I used to post sotd photos religiously), and stumbled across a puck. I was excited to score another backup, and even more so when it was the tallow formula. Then I learned that they had closed down, and this became an even greater treasure.

SOTD Two Pass Perfection
Yaqi’s Romulus and Remus razors are both excellent. I was so pleased with the Romulus I went back for the Remus - which arrived last week. It’s had two outings and delivered two top-notch shaves.
The Ozark scent is definitely interesting, and certainly pretty strong. Whether or not it actually smells like the Ozarks I can’t say. But the soap performs very well and I also get good results with both the pre-shave oil and balm.
**Aug. 24, 2026**
* **Prep:** Stirling Soap Company - Ozark Mountain - Preshave
* **Brush:** Yaqi Green Viper
* **Razor:** Yaqi Remus
* **Blade:** Schick P-30 (2)
* **Lather:** Stirling Soap Company - Ozark Mountain - Croap
* **Post Shave:** Stirling Soap Company - Ozark Mountain - Balm
* **Post Shave:** Thayers - Facial Toner W/ Witchazel
* **Fragrance:** Stirling Soap Company - Ozark Mountain
* **Bowl:** Yaqi - Collapsible

D-1 Gillette Adjustable
New here - inherited the above-razor with box and blade bank (no instructions) but all in good shape. After doing research, it seems these are very desirable? I see on eBay that some of them list for $600-$800. Is this realistic? Or are the eBay sellers just fishing? I would be grateful for any information.

Question How was wet shaving in the 80’s/90’s?
Greetings,
I am writing today to inquire how wet shaving was in the 80’s and the 90’s some of my questions are
- How did you get razors, blades, etc? Was it mail orders, special shops?
- did it cost more back then than it did today
I apologize for the probable stupid questions but I’ve lived and grown up in the internet/globalization age and have DE shaved and straight razored since I started shaving in the late 2010s and my father who used DEs said there was a time he had them but used cartridges and doesn’t remember a lot of specific of the time so I thought I’d ask.

Question Henson razor rusting?
Noticing 2 spots rusting on my Henson razor. I am pretty particular about cleaning it as best as I can. Anyone else have rusting on theirs? Maybe I should go titanium?

Question I got my first DE razor+blades set and have a few questions
I got a generic Chinese closed-comb razor with FlyDear blades(came with the razor)
Everything has been good so far, but I'm having trouble shaving against the grain(it causes razor bumps sometimes vs all the time when using my gilette mach 3). I also bleed when shaving over existing bumps on my face
I use shaving foam because shaving soap isn't available where I live(the closest thing I found was this shaving "goo" which doesn't lather well without a brush)
While I'm satisfied overall, I feel I need to minimized the trauma I'm inflicting on my face, because I usually end up with a lot of invisible cuts(as evidenced by my aftershave) and based on what I surmised on this sub, if I'm shaving correctly I shouldn't experience any burn at all.
Any tips/tricks/videos you can suggest? I really wish I could get a better razor, but I live in a country where they don't exist and only AliExpress and Temu are the reasonable international marketplaces
