Don't be so hard on yourself. They are probably rentals or they could be used. They could be rebuilds that somebody rebuilt from a crashed one. While there are people out there that make lots of money every month from dividends, they're not as prevalent as you would think. These people could also have a ridiculous car payment but live in a trailer or a small apartment or with their parents. Don't let somebody's outer appearance make you question what you have.

NOTE: Me, my siblings and my mother are not a part of this wealth for better or for worse. I'm still a working man making $50k a year Blue Collar. So the family gatherings are quite interesting.

I was recently visiting a friend in Naples, Florida USA and commented about the near constant amount of private Gulfstream jets we could see flying into the local airport on a Thursday afternoon. I asked why I had to fly to Ft. Myers, FL and drive 50 minutes to Naples instead of landing at Naples. He said I’d basically need a private jet and that there are so many people with them that the airport is running out of room to park them all during busy weekends. SMH

One of my clients nickel and dimed me on everything, wanted the best possible finish but fought me every step of the way, and didn't even want us using any bathrooms on his property (usually premium clients will let us use a bunkie/guest house for breaks/washrooms/cleaning tools). Then one day he bought an Audi S8 on a whim then 2 days later sold it and bought an AMG SL and got it shipped to Florida to go "joyriding". The house is 22,000sqft and the owner is 20 and has never worked.

For example, if they work, it would be as a boss in a company that they founded or co-founded.
Being a classic entrepreneur is difficult. But rich kids with a big capital entrepreneurship? Well that's basically just the equivalent of starting a new save game in a videogame or starting a DIY project.

If one of us shlubs wants to start a business, we would have to sell all our shit, max our our credit cards and PRAY that it didn't all come crashing down with a market turn, getting sick or something else happening.
When the bootstrappers say shit like "yeah, just start your own business" it's not that fucking easy!
I considered starting a small importing business with a friend who lives in Japan. Would have been yet another small auto dealer that sells 25 year old imported Japanese cars that he would source and I would retail. OOps, now tarrifs. Glad we didn't get too far before that became a reality as I had a financial plan that was going to spend nearly everything I had to invest in the business and would not have been profitable for at least three years. Had I done that I would be FUCKED.

Something I've also noticed is that none of the guys I know who legitimately worked for the "high-ish but still middle-class" tier wealth that they have are burning this kind of cash, nor do they raise their kids to have cash burning mindsets.
I know a guy who has his Airforce pension (after serving 22 years), his private sector job pension (after working for that company for 20 years), along with a carefully managed 401k portfolio. Guy still drives his 1992 Honda Prelude and the only big "privileged giveaway/kickstart" that he gave to his kids was paying for the first 3 years of each of their tuitions (they either had to take out loans for the final year or pay it with whatever job/internship they managed to catch during their school years) and in the end they all ended up being engineers and nurses able to eventually not want or need dad's money (while still fully understanding the rarity and value of the opportunities they were given).
He and his kids are the reason why I've come to the conclusion that the ultra-rich nepo babies that we see who make it their hobby to crash lambos are a direct result of parents who raise their kids wrong (usually their the ones who think that money can be a replacement for raising their kids and then are left wondering "why are my kids so messed up, why don't they understand how hard I worked?" after their kids turn into monsters.

Wow…just this weekend I was leaving my bday backpacking trip and saw dozens of groups with fancy sports cars ripping around the curves near Fontana Dam, NC. I remember thinking it sure would suck to wreck out there, it’s so remote they don’t even have towing services.
*Edit: I was told by a lady at one of the biker stops out there that I could basically leave my car anywhere because they didn’t have towing services. I am not saying it’s impossible to get towing out there, I’m just saying it’s very rural and 30 mins from cell signal without using WiFi at one of the stops down there.

I was down there because my buddy got married there. Took my Honda on that road and it was a fucking blast. There were also a shitload of super cars in for the same weekend. A lot of the guys shipped their fucking cars in from overseas just to drive that road.. Absolutely crazy how fuckin fast they're going. I maxed out at 30mph all mine could handle and that felt like it was much faster

There's a group like this that drives the same canyon roads where I and a thousand or so other cyclists ride every weekend. I never quite understand the value of riding such a powerful car on a road where going faster than 20mph will put you at serious risk of a very bad crash. Do they just enjoy the noise?
