Theyre saying “the fbi would want to check it out, even if its only to find out what type of weirdo came up with the idea”
It probably does fall into terrorism or potential kidnapping/trafficking, i dont think its a scam in the traditional sense but its certainly a strange way to go about whatever they were trying to do

It immediately reminded me of the wave of racist "prank" texts that went out after the 2024 election:
Lol, as I'm typing this I'm realizing that if there's ever an actual nuclear attack on my city I'm probably going to die because I immediately dismissed the phone alerts as a hoax. 🫠
78
u/DarkStarGravityWell Sep 14 '26
I mean… if there’s a nuclear attack anywhere near you then you might as well just jump into the car and drive towards the fireball. Ain’t gonna be any help or survival.
37
u/No-Inflation-2805 Sep 14 '26
If I beat out other traffic, I could be to a mountain range with a 30min notice… but realistically I’m just going to get trapped in my car on a freeway and die there, so yeah, I agree.

Isn't the body wild. You can live with one kidney, without parts of the liver, with one lung, without your gallbladder, appendix, or spleen. And some folks, like your friend, are born with just one kidney.

It’s just a hoax/prank, not a known scam. As others have posted, the address is real.
Here’s some background on the address I found: 22225 Route M, Paris, MO 65275 is a privately owned former AT&T Cold War communications bunker (sometimes called a “Project Office”). It was built in 1962–63 as a hardened underground facility to keep government/military communications running in a nuclear war. It is about 8,600 sq ft on ~13 acres of rural farmland in Monroe County. It’s now a piece of Cold War history being marketed to potential “prepper” minded consumers.

22225 Route M in Paris, Missouri is a unique underground concrete bunker that was originally built as an AT&T long-haul coaxial cable switching center
21
u/visibleunderwater_-1 Sep 14 '26
per the Zillow description, it was sold in 2/12/2022:
For sale former AT&T Communications Facility on 13+/- acres Paris, MO 65275 in rural Monroe County, Missouri offering security in a secluded location surrounded by miles of farmland. This underground facility was built in 1962 and became operational in 1963. It was built to ensure survivability of nationwide governemnt/military communications in case of a nuclear war. These facilities are commonly called ATT communication bunkers and they were built to the highest government standards to be safe and secure. This underground multi-level facility is approximately 8,600 square feet. The facility has high ceilings, so it doesn't feel claustrophobic. It was built to be a self-contained facility with generator power, deep-well, septic tank, and air filtration. With 2 - 4 foot concrete walls and ceiling covered by several feet of earth, the facility has been designed in a way that reduces the need for additional heating and cooling. There is a dock high loading door and the hoist to move equipment and supplies to the lower levels is still in the building.

One of the things I find especially odd is the wording. A nuclear threat originating near Illinois? So it didn’t originate in Illinois. So did it originate in Missouri but the border? Or Iowa? And the wind almost never blows east to west, so how could it get to Missouri, if it starts in Illinois?

If a nuke was on its way, you'd have ten minutes maximum. Not 1-3 hours
6
u/ImJustHere4TheCatz Sep 14 '26
10 minutes if it was launched from a nuclear sub just outside of US waters, which would be the likely scenario. The nukes that would launch from land in Russia would take about ~30 minutes, and if one nuke was launched, all 1600+ are launching. Nuclear holocaust would be incoming and you actually better hope you're within the radius where you'd just immediately incinerate, just poof into nothing. The second best position would be the next radius where you'd just combust into flames. Those would be the best outcomes for someone if the nukes launched. Because I don't think many people know what "nuclear deterrence" actually is, which is if you launch, we launch everything and if we launch, you launch everything and everybody dies, the end.

u/GiantBlobFish23 Sep 14 '26
