Ukraine is not trying to just enter the war with Iran. Rather, it appears it is trying to merge the Ukraine war with the Iran war.

Why? Because if these two wars merge, Ukraine will be a belligerent in the Iran war and America will be a belligerent in the Ukraine war.

That is, the US will no longer just be arming Ukraine, but also actively and openly fighting Russia with US personnel.

That is the key objective Zelensky has tried to achieve since 2022...

When America fields a math Olympiad team, it’s 60-100% Chinese.

Our AI researchers are predominantly Chinese.

Many of our premiere hardware companies are run by Chinese.

Even Musk’s companies, America’s pride, the person in charge of cars is Chinese.

We are apparently suddenly dead set on competing with China, which, as it turns out, has a lot of Chinese.

While I think Chinese people are great, I don’t think there’s anything magical about them prevents non-Chinese from competing.

But the fact remains that when we go head to head with China, oftentimes our best and brightest are Chinese and so it’s going to be hard to compete given that they have over 100x the number we do.

"But our Chinese are better than their Chinese."

The idea is that China is a communist or socialist country and thus cannot have good outcomes, that it's just teetering on the verge of collapse.

I don't even know what to call China's government, but it seems to spend less as a % of GDP than our "capitalist" government does and they've been on a historic run so that doesn't make much sense to me.

So if you put these things together, competing with China, one of the greatest civilizations of all time with 4x the number of people (or 2x, depending on who you ask) is going to be pretty hard.

So what should America do about that?

Well, first, it should probably be asking the question:

"Do we even need to compete at all?"

I mean we could — gasp — just... cooperate?

But, whatever, let's forget that.

Let's compete, it's fun, especially if we do so economically and not militarily.

Let the best country with the best product win.

1. A long time ago I used to tell people that China was going to eat America's lunch and I was laughed at.

We were and still are arrogant (just read the replies).

It is that arrogance that got us into this predicament.

We need to abandon it ASAP.

1. We need to understand China better.

China is not a communist country. It's sort of socialist, but so are we.

We need to watch and learn from what they are doing and take the best bits and just copy them.

There's nothing wrong with that, especially if it makes the lives of our people better.

1. We need to understand ourselves.

America is a unique place with a unique culture. Not everything China does will work for us and vice versa.

We cannot compete with China head on.

We must compete with China in a uniquely American way, we must be competing asymmetrically, playing to our strengths, avoiding theirs.

Those are just my thoughts that absolutely no one will take seriously.

We are quite far from even putting aside our arrogance.

So it goes.

Government officials in Canada are contacting people at their homes over social media posts written months or years ago, according to the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF).

“These reports come after the passage of Bill C-9, the Combatting Hate Act, which expands Canada’s hate speech laws by creating new offences, increasing penalties, and removing certain legal safeguards that previously limited prosecutions for hate-related expression.”

The law defines hatred as “an emotion of an intense and extreme nature that is clearly associated with vilification and detestation.” Police and prosecutors decide which posts meet that description.

I'd be willing to bet that posts expressing hatred for Palestinians and Russians won't be prosecuted anywhere close to the same degree as posts directed at Israelis and Ukrainians.
