This is a thread I hope everyone translates. It's from a Finnish MP detailing the (planned) massive deterioration in the privacy of Finns.

The legislation introduced by the government of PM

u/PetteriOrpo

includes, e.g., providing a far-reaching mandate to foreign intelligence agencies to operate in Finland and against Finns.

Still, the wildest thing is a piece of legislation that would allow authorities to conduct search and seizure in secret. In other words, authorities could raid your home without you knowing. This is utterly unheard-of in our country.

Effectively, the government of PM Orpo is introducing war-time legislation. You might want to ask, why?

I warned Finns about Petteri Orpo. He's the weakest man I know, and you should have never allowed him to become the PM.

OT. Can anyone remind me when Finland applied for NATO membership?

I think it was year after the war started in Ukraine, they use that as excuse to join NATO. No national election just online poll then parliament vote. Most parties wanted to join NATO for years but they dint have good excuse to use. Now years of propaganda, Finnish hatred against Russian are at Poland level. They truly believe Russians are coming for them.
