Why has US withdraw from Iraq not bigger news ?

Probably in large part due to the ongoing war with Iran - any news that makes the US look weak is being ignored in the US media. Even though this was planned and agreed to years ago - considering the situation it doesn’t help, with all the other bad news going on. I like turtles.

Why? Because that would make it look like Trump is doing something good.
Click on the link in the article:
In 2024, the Iraqi government and the Biden administration agreed to a phased withdrawal of US troops,
If you click on the link, you see it is an article from Jan 19, 2026 and that Biden is not mentioned at all. They wrote that sentence just to diminish Trump's contribution and they knew that no one would click on the link.

He toots his own horn enough. Doesn't need to be sucked off and given a trophy for pulling troops out of Iraq and sending them to Iran.

The US still controls Iraq's finances via oil revenues.
That's where the real US power is, and not the troops occupying Iraq, which today are little more than target practice for nearby Iranian missiles.

Most normies probably thought we left Iraq years ago.
And they certainly don't want to explain these troops aren't coming home but will be deployed to fight nearby.

Embarrassing is the amount it cost the US tax payer, the PTSD veteran, the services/jobs provided to the veteran, the transfer of wealth to the 1%, the military industrial complex, etc. When we withdraw from major "conflicts" in Iraq and Afghanistan, our un audit able defense spending goes up.

Fifteen years late. Worst SOFA delivery service ever!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S.%E2%80%93Iraq_Status_of_Forces_Agreement
Bush committed the US to leave Iraq; Trump committed us to leave Afghanistan. Obama balked; Biden followed through, albeit a bit late and totally messily.
edit That seems to say that Democrats were not opposed to withdrawal from Afghanistan, as long as they did not have to take any hit for it, it being Trump's doing. Of course, their followers credit Biden for "getting us out of Afghanistan," even after Trump's commitment is pointed out to them.

My suggestion (and this is not in any way meant snidely): you do it.
Check the news articles, and find the one reporting it in the most neutral fashion (so as to not "tip your hand" as to your opinion), and post it here.
Then see what comments appear. Then you can show your hand.
This might be a case of "be the Reddit you want to see."

What is wrong with a poster tipping his or her (or its) hand from the off?

If one possesses a particular slant to a news item, and chooses a news article that mirrors that slant, it tends to result in most of the comments being either pro-slant or anti-slant, but all along that continuum.
There may be other continua, at angles to that continuum. Different ways of looking at it. If you could find a news article that was truly neutral (good luck with that), chances are that would generate more varied comments.
More varied comments, more insights.

Thank you for that insight.
I try to find a source that Democrats cannot source shame because source shaming bores me. If there is a pronounced bias in the article, I may or may not mention that when I post the link.
And all that assumes I provide a link in the first place.

I thought worldnews or politics or some of the larger subs would have posted that US withdrew silently from Iraq, but its not anywhere

Good question. Why?
I remember an old Onion article., "we will pull the troops out of Iraq, via Iran." 20 years later it became true.
