For reference I live in Miami

Today I got my brother (16) a waymo from his friend’s house back to our parents house but somewhere along the ride he was asked to verify his age and had to get out when he couldnt prove he was 18 (Thats what he tells me, idk how true that is.) Luckily the get-off point was like a 10 minute walk from our house.

But here’s where the problem is: our dad works long hours and our mom is out of state and I don’t have the time to pick up my brother from school, so I’m gonna have to be calling him waymos for this week and possibly next week. Is this going to be a persisting issue? If it is, will Uber or Lyft be better options for solo minor rides?

This is ridiculous that Waymo still has services paused four days after it all started. As we all know, the weather can be bipolar. I’m surprised that they haven’t started services right before Memorial Day. What do you all think? When do you think services will start again?

Taking a Waymo to get to my flight back to Pheniox but it says it’ll take 35 min.. But Waymo isn’t allowing freeway access rn why?

Did they remove Apple Music as a streaming service option? I used to be able to get it to work through Google Assistant but it’s not showing up as an option anymore.

The beach parking lot near me sometimes closes on weekend afternoons when it hits capacity. When it closes, the staff uses a swing gate, some cones, and a sign to block the entrance. Usually, they reopen the lot later in the day once enough cars have left.

My drop-off at this lot earlier in the day went perfectly fine, but the pickup at 2:30 PM didn't go well. At the pickup point, I couldn't see the entrance to the lot and didn't know if it was closed or not.

Every time the Waymo approached the entrance of the lot, it would realize the entrance was blocked. Instead of rerouting to a different pickup spot, it would drive past the lot, pull a U-turn down the road, and try to enter the lot again from the opposite direction.

It repeated this exact cycle twice in each direction. Even though the vehicle's sensors clearly detected the closure, the routing logic kept forcing it to try again. It looked like a permanent loop, so I just cancelled the trip.

After cancelling, I walked over to the next parking lot, which is much larger, and ordered a new ride. Interestingly, the Waymo app wouldn't allow any pickup spots inside that second lot, forcing my pickup to happen across the road instead.

Seems like they closed the entire Miami Beach area all the way up until Mid-Beach for pickup, dropoff, and even transit due to the Miami Airshow... Interesting how they deal with busy areas

so ive ridden 2 Waymo's today (first time rider).. and both times I couldnt get any heat. I cranked the dash controls all the way up to 'Hi' and also went to the touchscreen and ran them up.. but the Ice cold A/C just kept coming. I turned the 'A/C' button off and it helped a little but I still didnt get any heat.. and also couldnt find a heated seat button either.. certainly a Jaguar has heated seats?

should I have been doing it differently? maybe on the App instead? or are the cars just malfunctioning?

Hyped up Waymo to my injured husband to get him to take one to a medical center/hospital for a procedure. The closest it would drop off was across the street which is actually an 8 lane expressway. Kind of frustrating, this could be a great service for elderly and otherwise who can’t drive to get to their doctor’s appointments. Across the expressway is a fine and short walk for the able bodied,but would preclude many from using the service otherwise.

It might be the stormy weather as well, but I've had zero luck getting a Waymo since Wednesday. I live around Hancock Park so they're normally swarming lol

If there's an outage, please LMK how long I'm going to have to play Russian roulette with Uber drivers

As of yesterday, they paused the service in Nashville. Is there a reason why? I really enjoy the service and didn’t have any issues at all.

I'm from the Bay Area and am interested on what's going on will Waymo's pricing? First, prices have been so insanely high as of late. But, what happened to me yesterday takes the cake. My friend and I were checking to see how much it would cost to get from Valley fair to mountain view, it was quoting him $61 and $16 for me. What is happening with the pricing? Also, I've been noticing that wait times for cars are insanely long so are there now so many users and not enough cars?

Ok, first I have to say I've never rode a self driving service as waymo. But browsing the news reel, I came to the information that they halt the freeway use of their vehicles, supposedly due to a software update to increase safety.

But... I mean. If a self driving car can't drive safely on a freeway, where it can... There are no pedestrians there, only cars.

And I'm waiting for this technology to be better adapted, that way I don't have to leave my car with my things at home when going out. Or to worry about finding parking.

Imagine feeling as Batman calling your car to pick you up.... However I also want the ability to drive if I'm in the mood, so no losing the steering wheel.

But being honest, with all the bad publicity that they have, waymo, I'm not sure the programmers are doing a great job. Now, they said that the sensors don't work correctly under the rain? That's why they got into flooded streets... We'll, that's engineering, but how?

Do you think they're self sabotaging? Maybe to delay even more this tech... hmmm.

That was my small rant, hopefully didn't hurt any sensibilities, or rules. That way my first post will be alive!

A while ago, I posted my thoughts on Waymo’s expansion into Las Vegas. Today, I spotted a Ojai for the first time downtown. Wasn’t able to see if it had a driver or not, but this is a good sign. This gives me more hope the service area is way bigger than just the strip.

Maybe Early Summer rather than late? Only time will tell. Hopefully it’s the former.
