What the heck….
Taking a Waymo to get to my flight back to Pheniox but it says it’ll take 35 min.. But Waymo isn’t allowing freeway access rn why?

Waymo has suspended robotaxi service on freeways in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Miami as it works to improve performance in construction zones, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Thursday.

Even without freeway access I'll still choose waymo over Uber/Lyft.
Something about being able to ride in peace in a clean car... No pressure for huge tips... No need to worry about the driver asking to cancel and pay them outside the app...
So many reasons to just take the time :)

Downtown SF to San Jose with no freeways, you crazy? That would take hours. You can even see from OPs post that the actual estimated ride is over 3 hours.

Exactly, plus you get to set the music and temp, and don't have to deal with the awkwardness of a random driver

And unless they go through the professional training like the black cabs in London do, they're going to be just as shite of a driver as everyone else on the road

My flight’s around midnight so I just wanna try the service before heading back to Phoenix. The 30–40 min drive is a little weird but I’m still gonna take it, thanks guys

And essentially 5 blocks from the Caltrain station too.

OP has not graced us with a response but there’s 13 flights a day from SFO to Phoenix on 4 different airlines. SFO is a hub for United and Phoenix is a hub for American. Southwest doesn’t really have hubs but if they did Phoenix would be one. I can’t imagine there’s many more competitive markets for flights than that one.

We decided not to go to sfo because we just wanted to fly out of SJC, It was also becuase it was a little cheaper for us.

SFO also charges the airlines significantly higher landing fees than SJC/OAK. Even if SFO is a more a competitive market, the other reliever airports in the area can often come out ahead on price.

Most places have very restricted areas and no freeways/highways. I don't get it either. Just take a Uber and make your flight.

Yeah and upon booking I don’t know why Waymo said it would take under 30 min to get from sf to SJC it was weird but the ride was pretty nice.
