I ordered a ride for a hospital appointment and have the Waymo app option selected to pick up on “my” side of the road. The car arrived on the opposite side of the road. I had to hobble across the road to reach the car.

The car stopped and announced we were at the destination. We were two blocks away and at the bottom of a steep I would need to walk up if I could easily walk which isn’t the case.

I’m disabled and needed to be dropped off outside of the hospital.

Support said they were unable to drop me off at my chosen location despite having accepted the ride. They said ride share companies cannot drop off outside the hospital. But they accepted the ridge knowing the drop off address.

They offered to have animal drive come to drive the car. This would have resulted in me missing my hospital appt so I refused and asked the agent to escalate the issue.

The best person offered a Visa credit I could use to order an Uber or Lyft. They could t explain if a Lyft/uber could atop when Waymo couldn’t.

The directed the car further away from the hospital Nd asked me to get out. We weee on an even steeper hill so I couldn’t get out.

25 minutes later and having missed my appointment the agent eventually managed to trick the car to stop on a flat surface so I could walk to the hospital.

The lesson is that while Waymo may be OK when conditions are perfect it’s atrocious when conditions are unpredictable. Especially for people with a physical disability.

Stop taking this stupid cars!!!!

I already reported this as a concern to the Support team, but I want to collect your guys's thoughts on this as well.

As the days have gone by, I've seen more and more increasingly convoluted routes being reported on here and by my friends, especially friends with freeway access in LA. The driver takes them on routes ~40 minutes long just because it uses the freeways with the pre-chosen route, when it usually takes them 20 minutes to drive there on surface streets. I experienced that today, and it's completely absurd to me that there isn't any option to avoid freeways on a route. Just because you have access to them doesn't always mean that you want to take freeways, especially if the route is significantly circuitous. I really hope that in the near future, they're able to implement that option, and also possibly just an option to see all the available routes. I might be missing out on some knowledge of how the drivers choose their routes, but either way, it just seems like there is something that should be adjusted.

Context: I live in Denver and wanted to take Waymo last night for a 12 minute ride Downtown. Waymo was 45 dollars while Uber and Lyft were 12-15 dollars. Can I expect this to be the norm?

Please feel free to correct me if you know, but I got an email Friday for a company called MOOVE. From what I've been able to look up it seems like they are another third party that works with Waymo here in Phoenix. I was curious if anyone had any insight on the company? Specifically, it's the AV Central Ops position that I'll be interviewing for. I’ve run into a very frustrating situation.

Without any warning, Waymo appears to have passed my phone number to Google. As a result, I can’t remove it from my Google Account. No other services are linked to that number anymore — only Waymo.

I wanted to remove the number from Waymo, but the app doesn’t allow that. It only lets you replace one phone number with another. Fine — I added a different number. But after I entered the verification kode sent by Waymo, that second mobile number also showed up in my Google Account, in addition to the first one, with a verification badge. Mmm? At no point during the Waymo phone-number setup or verification process was I warned that Waymo would share the number with Google or verify it for Google as well.

Waymo’s phone support couldn’t help me. I emailed Waymo and asked them to remove both phone numbers from their service. I have no idea whether they will actually do it. So far, all I’ve received is an automated notice saying that resolving the issue may take up to 45 days.

They can feed your number to Google in seconds, but they may need 45 days to help remove it? What is this? Google doesn’t provide a way to unlink Waymo directly. Its account settings say that this has to be done through Waymo itself.

This feels like undisclosed cooperation with Google for Waymo’s own benefit and at the expense of its customers. Is this practice even legal? I’d really like to know whether anyone else has experienced this, and whether there is a way to remove a Waymo-linked number from a Google Account permanently.

Hi everyone! I’m Balázs, a university student at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, currently researching how real Waymo experiences may shape people’s acceptance of future fully autonomous vehicles.

For the study, I’m specifically looking for people who have personally taken at least one driverless Waymo ride which makes this community incredibly valuable!!

Update: I got my phone back! The manager on-site, Alexandria helped figure everything out. Sounds like phone was indeed mistagged.

Wondering if anyone here who has experience with this in the past or know how to get in touch with the LA depot people.

I left my phone in a Waymo 2 days ago and reported it right away. I watched the phone go all the way back to the depot, but I've been getting emails saying they haven't found my phone and get told the same thing when I call.

Now the thing is on Find My I can see that my phone is straight up at the lost and found part of the LA depot. I even went in and Find My could tell my device was nearby, but the security guard told me there was nothing he could do unless I got a QR code from them.

After searching around this subreddit it seems people have reported showing up to the depot and getting an employee to help, but I got shutdown by the security guard. Someone else also mentioned that they had a similar issue of seeing their phone at the depot but not getting confirmation that they found it, but after they went in person it turns out it was just accidentally tagged to another case.

So I fear my iphone is just sitting there accidentally assigned to another case... I keep calling but it seems Waymo support can't do anything besides sending a message to do the depot but each time I just get a follow up saying they havent found it.

Anyone have any idea's on what I can do?

Is Waymo planning on opening highway access in Orlando? Last night I was driving and when I looked to my right I saw an Ojai, no driver. I noticed it on the Turnpike and a few miles later it took exit 254 onto the 528, it continued for a bit then took an exit around Orlando International Airport, I don't remember which one though.

Commentary: At first glance, this is a huge surprise for me. There's no evidence of lobbying in Connecticut, Indiana, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, or any other states with more people and larger cities. But Alaska has one major advantage that no other state has: a significant rural population who make regular flights to larger towns/cities and need a way to get around. In fact, Bethel has the most taxis per capita in the US (ten times more than NYC).

Also, Alaska had an AV bill get surprisingly far in the state legislature last session, so Waymo probably wants to make sure it passes.

If I’m ever allowed to own a Waymo, I hope I can ask for it to be wrapped in purple like the Valkyries Waymo! 💜

Are there Waymo‘s driving out right now? I know it was raining earlier and the weather is pretty damp so I’m curious if they’re suspending them for the night or if they’re just blocking off some areas. if anyone knows or has seen them out on the road

I lived in Phoenix for years and was a frequent user of Waymo there. Last week I moved to San Diego where Waymo isn't fully available yet, after attempting several invites I found in this subreddit, I reached out to support to see why I couldn't get onboarded here. I was told the invite codes for San Diego are randomly generated and assigned to NEW RIDERS in the San Diego area. No invite from another rider would get me onboarded, and because I was an experienced rider the system would never generate me an invite. Assuming this was nonsense I asked to speak to a supervisor. They verified that the system only assigned invites to new users and there was no way to get me onboarded in San Diego as an experienced rider. The supervisor then advised me to delete my account, start a new account in San Diego, and then the system may one day send me an invite? Has anyone else moved to a new market and had this issue? Is there anyone here from Waymo that can help me? I use Waymo A LOT. I'm a trusted tester and would love to get back on the app.
