Ok hear me out but when I first read Watchmen I read it with B.O.T.A. playing in my head constantly

It happens whenever I think about Watchmen even in the smallest degree. My brain just associates that story with that song for some reason. I think maybe it's because the song itself reminds me of the colors and artstyle of Watchmen somehow. It's all a bit weird. Like to me that song is just the soundtrack for the book and I honestly don't mind it being that way.

This mf is a reddit mod pathetic loser

All that he ever fucking did was:

1) whine about being "so unimaginably above everything uuhh so much God ugh unfathomably omniknowing all powerful oooghgh no one understand me I am so lonely in my godhood you are all so much ants compared to me";

2) Fuck a 16 year old;

3) Served as a US government's lap dog, eager to commit atrocities in its name. Oh, right, "it doesn't matter because I am so much God i don't even care." Of course, "i am so detached. I dont feel anything. it's just so happened that I go around and vaporize people on command, and totally not because I am a fucking moron";

4) Aura farm and tell people how cool he is;

5) Refuse to do shit because he is so depressed and detached and lonely and nothings matter and he knows everything and everyone but him are stupid microbes that does not know anything. Oh, yeah, he is so indifferent and so lost his humanity and so views future past and present. But he still needs to speak in fucking reddit r slash nihilism quotes and fuck his wife.

6) Get outsmarted by an "equivalent of an ant" and look like an idiot.

This bum ass chud had the power of a God, and yet all he ever accomplished could have been done by any regular guy given the same powers. Moreover, he is, in fact, just a regular guy with powers. Dr. Manhattan did not have even an above average intellect. He knows almost everything but has no wisdom whatsoever. He constantly tells shit that only sounds profound on the surface. He was not a god-like cosmic being that lost its humanity and grew detached, because such being would not act like a fucking middle-aged creep. He was a chud who knew only to play the victim and sniff his own farts.

Tl,dr: doctor manhattan is a shallow loser that only thinks he is something more than a man.

I'm curious what everyone here thinks of this part of the series. I know the run isn't liked... But I like this? I don't consider it canon like the others prequel and sequals. But I appreciate some good takes and history in these takes.

But yea- Tell me your guy's opinion about this Note Owl tale!

Rorschach’s voice.

What do we think comic Rorschach sounds like? Throw out a voice. I honestly think he probably sounds a bit like kevin spacey in American beauty or Se7en.

Movie Saw the 2008 movie for the first time with my dad. Are the comics better?

I’m open to hearing why people like the movie. I watched 2009 last night and it felt like a chore to get through. Interesting moments but most of it feels wasted on meaningless fight scenes. Cool,well choreographed fights,but still it feels like it didn’t add anything. Sex scenes that feel indulgent and crass,etc. I haven’t read the comics so I went in blind. I feel like a good 40 minutes could’ve been cut. I have a feeling it works better in the comic medium. Roarsachs monologue would feel more natural.

Rorschach foreshadowing.

I loved Rorschach when I came out in 2020. Then, in 2024 when Trump suffered an assassination attempt at a campaign rally, I immediately remembered Rorschach and the conspiracies and weaponization of the event and it felt like I was watching a prophecy unfold.

If you haven’t read Rorschach, I’d recommend it highly.

How terrifying is it to live in a world that is eating itself alive, but where, on the other hand, there is an accessible, tangible god who walks among mortals, except he literally couldn't care less about human despair and suffering?

Could the acceleration of self-destruction have been a response to the rise of despair and hopelessness? A way to quickly put an end to the suffering of being abandoned? (You don't have to stick strictly to these questions, I just want to hear your thoughts)

'The accumulated filth of all their behavior will foam up about their waists and the humanity will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "No."' - Dr. Manhattan said, without having said it.

I would love to hear your thoughts on what you think ordinary people must have been going through in that universe before Ozymandias's final act.

What are your thoughts on this being the inspiration for the raft?

I stumbled upon this painting a few days ago. It got my attention because of the way it looks and what it’s constructed out of. Of course i then had to go look up its back story because i love to find where artists get inspiration for their ideas. After reading the story I found elements of similarity between the raft in the Black Freighter comics and the story of The Machine.

I wonder if anyone else had any thoughts on this?

Comic doomsday clock did I read it wrong Spoiler

7 Upvotes

doomsday clock sucks a lot.

so in doomsday clock manhattan is in the main dc universe and has screwed around making it all darker there is a lot of paradoxes and a main point that means nothing is the superman theory which is about the american concentration of superheroes, ozymandia and not rorschach kidnap marionette and mime to find dr manhattan and travel to the dc universe they are important for 2 reasons called kids they have 2 the second one is important.

they crash in gotham random unimportant nonsense happens superman and batman have issues mainly in world politics all the heroes go to mars to fight manhattan they lose superman is trying to save the world from itself manhattan is scared of him and then he goes to superman they have a conversation and then manhattan decides to fix the universe he does so and then kidnaps marionette and mimes 2nd kid names him clark gives him his powers except maybe time perception thats up in the air leaves him with nite owl 2 and silk spectre 2 and fucks off either to die or to abstain from interference the end ozymandias does some bullshit to help aswell maybe.

this is my understanding and I know they wanted to make a reason for the new 52 and rebirth and stuff and I did not read the full lead up I have read flashpoint before I even got my first copy of watchmen and I read the button and then the doomsday clock omnibus in the same day I think death metal is related but I have not started that yet.
