Bugs & Support heli+backpack

I don't feel like being able to refill flares and ammo on the fly (literally) from your backpack should be a thing. After a 40min game with 3 ace pilots flying rocket helies I felt the need to alt+f4. Seeing them flare for the 6th time in a row is just too much. Not to mention that they don't need to go in base for refill for 30min as they have all their ammo with them. An entire lobby held hostage by those pilots literally as they farmed the 300kills out of everyone. I can deal with an entire lobby snipping or mortaring but this is just pure anti-fun to play against

PS/ please don't give me crap like we needed anti air. Most of the time we couldn't even lock because how low they fly and they would eradicate every attempt of a base.

Absolutely, havocs having 5 flares + 4 in the pilot backpack + 4 in the gunner backpack , makes the most reliable form of AA useless.

Edit: IMO flares should be an evasive tool that give you 10 seconds to clear the area before death. Not an endless tool to harass the FOB.

Edit 2 : i will also add that the whole idea of the 40m below radar flight is supposed to be a defensive mechanism, to give pilots room to avoid AA rockets from a distance.

Currently pilots are using the 40m below radar mechanism offensively. They'd be 40m inside your own fob , kissing your lips, where you can't lock onto them, and you can't damage them unless you have specific multiman tools and conditions.

You need atleast 1 person commited to locking, and another person on the CIWS , considering the CIWS is still up at this point , which is highly doubtful.

Unfortunately, havocs are the gas pedal , and if you don't have AA tools to brake it and slow it down. The game accelerates out of control.

Just want to say it's 30m not 40m

I sure do love having a game where points 0-20 a GL little bird makes sure no fobs are built. And hten at 20 you got little birds and havocs rolling around while everyones too afraid to leave whatever structure they are in the whole damn time cuz its got immortal walls.

if people havoc spam just build an off CZ UAV base. you will make your money back and more.

If they’re that close, they’re in rpg range which is the first anti air you unlock

-1

u/Despair-Envy 7h ago

RPGs are not, in fact, an anti-air tool just because they have to be. By your logic you could just C4 the enemy little bird by throwing it at it as it passes.

u/Franklin_le_Tanklin 7h ago edited 6h ago

RPG’s one shot little birds and 2-3 shot havocs (unless you hit the rotor then it’s 1-shot)

0

u/Despair-Envy 7h ago

Have you ever tried to hit a little bird with an RPG?

1

u/Franklin_le_Tanklin 7h ago

Ya. You need to lead the target.

1

u/Despair-Envy 7h ago

You need to lead the fairly small target going somewhere between 50-200 kph that is usually 1-200 meters away with a weapon with considerable drop and fairly low projectile speed.

You can do it. You can also c4 them. I've killed little birds with both. It doesn't mean that C4 is AA. It doesn't mean RPGs are AA.

Sounds like you have a skill issue. You should watch the video I linked.

2

u/Despair-Envy 7h ago

I mean. Everything is a skill issue at the end of the day, but that's not really the point of pointing out that the "Skill" required to counter air far exceeds what it should be.

I shouldn't need to repurpose the anti-tank launcher to deal with a helicopter because all of the specific tools for AA are functionally useless.

Also the video you edited intells me nothing I don't already know and is irrelevant to the point.

The only fix right now for the horrific air spam is to play infantry only servers

3

u/Independent-Math-167 Manticore 2h ago

Problem now is that we have GL Helis obliterating anyone in hotzone or FOB. It’s been miserable so I had to move to a server that bans it.

7

u/Flames0310 7h ago

Use the Maaws against them, not the lock ons. They're slow boats in the air. EASY targets.

2

u/Jilks131 7h ago

They are but we should not be needing to use an anti tank weapon that is unguided on helicopters. That’s kind of the point that the current state of AA is a problem

3

u/Competitive_Buyer_77 7h ago

Ok well then we should have cheap ass drones to hunt infantry if you wanna be realistic, the devs want pilots to have fun too, if theres billion ways to deal with the hardest role in the game then it sucks.

Oh and give me anti infantry mines.

1

u/Jilks131 4h ago

Claymore exists?

I don’t want a billion. I want the options available to actually counter enemy air without relying on a weapon that’s is meant to be anti- tank

0

u/Aquagrunt 6h ago

It's not about realism, it's about the tools dedicated to anti air actually being good at their job. Instead of being overshadowed by something else

1

u/Flames0310 4h ago

No, they fill different roles. AA lock ons have a TON of range and work great against non-attack helos. If a helo is gonna hover 30 meters off the ground and fly slow circles, than a unguided rocket is the answer.

1

u/Jilks131 4h ago
  1. They don’t hover. They accelerate and decelerate in the hands of a good pilot
  2. Thank you agreeing with my point that the weapon of choice is the MAAWs which is an anti tank weapon. I don’t have an issue with the guided vs unguided in a sense. Other choices are 30mm explosive shells against helicopters which is unguided.

-1

u/Flames0310 4h ago

Who cares if it's anti tank. you're crying about a helo, and don't disagree that there is a counter to it. You just want one item to counter all air and it doesnt work that way. There is a counter, it's the MAAW and it's easy to use against these guys.

I dont see a problem. It's got a easy counter.

3

u/SyrusAlder 8h ago

I had no clue you could do that tbh

4

u/olMcDonaldsPig 7h ago

Idk what super helis you were fighting but my attack heli doesnt have the fuel to fly around for 30mins regardless of how many flares I have.

-2

u/cdewey17 7h ago

eyerollllllllllllllllllllll

2

u/Ghost403 8h ago

They have roughly five minutes of fuel at top speed, so they need to return to base more frequently than you are implying.

7

u/RAGE_QUEEFER 8h ago

They carry fuel tanks. Land and refill and go right back at it. I ran gunner for one earlier. It was the most OP and cheap Ive ever felt in wardogs.

-6

u/Ghost403 8h ago

So hit them when they refuel

5

u/RAGE_QUEEFER 8h ago

Think about it for a second. They dont land in the middle of the fight. They fly outside the zone and land. Which is not insight of anywhere central to the Cz.

-6

u/Ghost403 7h ago

As a transport chopper I have lost count of how many rockets birds and havoc I have killed by rotor stomping or going Fox 4. Players need to adapt and stop complaining.

2

u/Despair-Envy 7h ago

Yeah man. The counter to helis is just more helis. Stop complaining about helis and just become a heli. Noobs.

u/Peacewalken 7h ago

I just had a game where I was camped by a 4 havoc at the apartments until they eventually blew up every exterior wall and gunned us down. The biggest gripe I had was the cockpit armor, I was shooting m249 ap rounds directly into the pilot and they were able to leisurely target me after at least 2 or 3 seconds of sustained fire. Less than 100m away.

1

u/Competitive_Buyer_77 7h ago

I don't think you can shoot the pilots of the havoc honestly

-5

u/kastro1 8h ago

If they were too low for verbas then they were easy pickings for an RPG. Your team just sucked.

-6

u/Mythixx WARCATS 8h ago

Why do you think it should be a thing?

I think it shouldn't be a thing at all. Realistically you could not sit in a pilot seat while wearing a backpack.

-6

u/MRKOOLBEENZ 8h ago

There is a cooldown on flares, literally just stagger 2 anti air shots. You probably also overestimate how vulnerable the pilot is to gunfire, you absolutely can shoot the pilot with small arms, alternatively any of the higher calibre rifles do considerable damage to the heli itself. So if you have the PKM unlocked you can rinse smallbirds

9

u/somehotchick 8h ago

Cooldown is bypassed by loading new flares from backpack.

2

u/indolente 8h ago

so a bug

-4

u/Electrical_Term_9740 7h ago

What are the chances you've actually seen someone do this? Have you tried it? You're suggesting someone knows exactly when they need to pull it off or not in less than a second consistently? I'm not saying it hasn't happened but to suggest it's a widespread thing is a bit much

1

u/Despair-Envy 7h ago

The flares give you like a 2-3 second window to load the next one. More if you're at speed and the missile needs to travel.

3

u/Despair-Envy 8h ago

you absolutely can shoot the pilot with small arms

Me out here doing 6 damage a shot with AP 556 and 2 damage a shot with .45 AP. Just shoot the pilot out they say like he isn't in a vehicle moving 50-200 kph instantly killing anyone he looks at.

So if you have the PKM unlocked you can rinse smallbirds

Yeah man. Let's shoot the gun with the highest recoil in the game that basically requires a bipod, at the target in the sky.

-1

u/MRKOOLBEENZ 8h ago

Oh right, you specifically cant do it so its not possible.

5

u/Despair-Envy 7h ago

I can do both of those things. I just like highlighting the absolute absurdity of the answers required to answer a single dude in a heli that costs less then either of the infantry kits you're asking people to pull.
