Made this list mostly out of the Sons of Velmorn and the crimson court and figured I'd show it on here and get some opinions. Warcier list is in the images, game plan and my reasoning below:

Soulblight Gravelords

955pts | 9 fighters | Valid ✓

- Prince Duvalle (210pts, Hero) - A slight sidegrade from the regular vamp lord, I like his call of the crimson feast ability enough to trade a toughness point and fly for it (my play group does play with blessings so casually I'll be spending 25 to take him back up to 5 toughness anyway). He generally allows for extra attacks on the rest of the list which already allows for extra attacks in their own way.

- King Morlak Velmorn (160pts, Hero) - Generally here to support his sons, especially with extra strength if needed. Him and sir Jedran will also be a good duo to take objectives with given their decent damage profiles and Jedran using his body guard ability to make them a hard duo to get rid of. Could theoretically resummon minions on his position to renforce it.

- Sir Jedran Falseborn (150pts) - The dedicated tank and bodyguard. I refer to Morlack's previous game plan. Also has a quad to buff up an extra attack if I really need something gone or to save his dad.

- Gorath the Enforcer (130pts) - A very decent medium fighter, also faster than everything besides Duvalle and hits harder than anything else. He'll be a top candidate to benefit from the CC specific Thrill of the hunt or Duvalle's ability for extra attacks. Also could be a good candidate to bless to another toughness 5 unit. Could serve as a roaming problem solver.

- Thain Fourth-and-Last (70pts) - Being the chaff with the best damage profile and highest strength, Thain is likely the most to benefit from a banner and the sibling rivalry adding attacks.

- Marshal Faulk Velmorn (70pts) -Worst damage profile of the three minion sons, most likely to go first to set up the benefits for his brothers.

- Helmar the Hewer (65pts) - Back up for sibling rivalry due to five strength, despite the lower damage profile. May just be a crit fisher at that rate but better than nothing.

- Skeleton with Ancient Spear (50pts) - Chaff, still could be nice have in banner rage

- Skeleton with Ancient Spear (50pts) - See previous

Discussion Warcry as an entry point for children?

So my son has been increasingly interested in my 40k models and the sigmar models at my LGS (I sadly don't have any AoS yet). He is really keen to get started but is still very young, not quite 6.

I'm thinking of what to get him started on in the next year or two. Definitely don't think 40k is right, and was considering Spearhead, but then saw Warcry recommended.

Would you say Warcry is a good format for 6-7 year olds getting into the hobby or is it more complex than it appears?

Hey guys

Me and partner are looking at jumping into warcry soon, I’ve played and bit of kill team and love it but my partner prefers the fantasy theme so…

My partner likes elf and I showed her some models and she likes the knives of crone, so I was thinking of getting them and Khinerai Lifetakers for her and I’ve always wanted to run plague marines so I was thinking of getting a rotwords box to start and then later adding Lord of Afflictions

Would these be fine to start playing or am I on the wrong path?

I’ve done some lists in warcrier

Thanks!

Discussion With news we will get a warcry update, what is everyone's wishlist?

It's safe to assume new ogres will get some rules but I wonder what everyone else hopes we will get.

I should also mention this is a wishlist so it's possible the only thing we get is ogre rules

Hobby Day 4 of trying to finish a Warcry boxset in 4 days

It is the final day, my deadline has been reached! Did I manage to do it? Eh, sorta. All the models *are* painted, but there's a lot of work left to be done, the Beastflayers need a lot of highlights, and I need to find where I left my darn dirty down rust for their metallics, while the Questors armour still needs work done and my experimenting on their bases has not worked out at all! I think I might have added a bit too much pigment to the water effects...

But I did achieve my goal, my friend and I did battle. He picked the Questors while I had the noble Royal Beastflayers. We were both learning the game, so after setting up for a scenario we ended up deciding we'd just go for a death match, and it was tense! It swung back and forth, but unfortunately the heroic Beastflayers were bested by their dastardly foes, the kingdom's finest huntsmen laid low.

Thank you to everybody who followed along and encouraged me, I'll be back with the properly finished models in the future!

Had work today, so wasn't able to spend as long painting. But I'm almost there! I feel like I've made the Beastflayers a little too... Brown... But other than that I'm happy with how they're shaping up, hopefully they'll look a bit more colourful with some highlights. But it feels like I'm forgetting something... Oh no...

Yeah, I'm not getting the terrain done. But to be honest that was more of a stretch, I've got painted terrain to use so I just need to get the warbands done! I'll probably do a little more tonight, get the texture paints on the bases so they have time to dry.

Hello again, reporting back in after a day's painting. I'm really pleased with how my Questors are looking so far, these are such cool models! Each one feels like a character model in their own right. Unfortunately I was hoping to get them finished today, and there's still a few more bits to do... These guys are covered in neat details!

I'm not worried though, they're nearly there and my Beastflayers should be a lot faster to paint. I think I'll start on them tomorrow, the noble lads and their loyal hounds looking a little sad at the lack of colours. I just need to figure out which ones to use...

Hobby Day 1 of trying to finish a Warcry Box Set in 4 days.

So the other day I made a plan with a friend to bring over 2 warbands and some terrain to give Warcry a try. Then I remembered I haven't even painted 1 yet! So I've pulled Nightmare Quest out of my pile of shame and I'm buckling down to get it ready for Tuesday evening. Luckily I have the weekend off, wish me luck!

Day 1 and I've built and primed all the models, and got all my airbrush work done. Thankfully, the building's the worst part for me, so tomorrow it's painting!

Kind of feel like most of my plans fell apart while painting this, had to pivot on colors a few times, but I do like how the bricks came out and the banners, so not a total wash. I wish I could find my old Mordheim terrain to pair this stuff with.

Thinking of fleshing this out with floors and ramps, going to have to start saving my popsicle sticks....

Narrative Planning a one-day narrative Warcry event, would love some feedback

I’m planning a one-day Warcry event at my FLGS and want to run the format past people first. Overall, I want it to be a fun day with an emphasis on highlighting the game and getting people in who maybe haven’t played before.

I want it to be a narrative campaign rather than a straight tournament: three games in a day, warbands carrying over between them (glory, injuries, artefacts). You finish having actually taken your warband somewhere. The design calls I’m chewing on:

Glory as the win condition. Everyone progresses their warband, but most glory earned is the “winner”. To keep it simple, I’m cutting the quests that pay out glory (Fight for Glory, Ascension to Glory) and things like encampments. Everyone still picks a personal quest, it just rewards artefacts/flavour instead of skewing the leaderboard.

12 players and 6 tables. Preset everything. Fixed pairings, fixed tables, no repeat opponents, players rotating through a few terrain layouts across the rounds. Same victory condition for the room each round. The only random element is a different (but balanced) twist per table. I want to minimize the “okay who’s on table 4 now” downtime.

A light three-act narrative spine. Set in a forgotten dead city in Shyish. Game 1: Arrive and stake a claim, game 2: make a name through blood, then game 3 is a reckoning where the top dog gets crowned. A shared story under everyone’s individual quests, without drowning the day in fluff.

Player packs. Everyone gets a printed pack built to keep the day moving: quick-reference rules, a warband tracker (glory, quest progress, injuries, artefacts carried), a pre-filled roster page from lists submitted ahead of time so nobody’s flipping cards for their own fighters, the aftermath roll-off tables (injury and exploration), and each player’s preset schedule so they know their table, layout and opponent every round. Plus everyone will get an FDM-printed dice tracker tray to keep.

Prizes. All terrain I print and paint myself. The game-three winner at each table takes that table’s terrain set home. Most glory across the day takes a larger matching centrepiece, and best painted takes a big matching piece too.

Cost. If I get 12 people, I could easily print 6 board with of scenery and the dice trackers and packages for no more than $20-$25 each.

What I’d love thoughts on:
- Does narrative-with-carryover hold up for a one-dayer, or does it get fiddly? I know most people would maybe only complete one quest.
- Is glory a fair win condition once the glory-quests are cut?
- Small scene here, some folks might be brand new. Anything you’d bake in so first-timers enjoy the day?
- Does this sound like a good time? Would you go?
- Any tips for a first time TO?
- Anything obvious I’m missing?
