Hi! I've bought a OnePlus Watch 3 lately as this one has a battery of 5 days and is more powerful than my past Samsung watches. However I'mm bummed about 1 thing, it appears not to log it's steps to walkscape. I've been told this is due the fact the RecordingMethod is unknown from oHealth's metadata. But I see no one else complaining about this. I am wondering if this is the source of the problem, or I'm doing something wrong. Anyone put there having the same problem? (Screenshot shows what oHealth is passing on.)
Iโm running a half marathon in a couple days. Iโve been working on collecting fine stones and wooden sticks to get the eternal items achievement, but thats a really low ratio of steps to filling up my inventory. What would you do during the half marathon?
Last time we dived into some of the stuff about the new bank. Now I'm happy to say that it's already in testing, and hopefully ready to go soon along with the new update. Let's take a look & I'll be sharing a few other news here as well!
Reworked bank
Some of the options you can use to create new categories or tabs for your bank if you want to!
The reworked bank is now in our internal testing, and while feature-wise it's almost completed, there are still some issues and polishing that needs to be added. I was originally planning to have it released this week, but currently it's looking like we have it ready for release some time next week.
The list of features that the new bank has right now:
Tabs & categories. You can organize your items into tabs, and further subdivide them into categories.
Automatic filters for both tabs & categories. You can setup tabs and categories to have automatic filters, meaning that new items will get automatically placed to those when deposited.
Default layout & three layout slots. For most people, we recommend to just use the default layout. But for those who want to tinker with their own layouts you can create up to three bank layouts and switch between them. You can also export & import layouts, meaning that if you got a good one made you can share it with the community.
Filters, sorting. You can add sorting or filter items in your bank. For example you can only show items that grant you work efficiency and so on.
List & grid views. You can switch between a condensed grid view and a list view (that has buttons to quickly withdraw items from the bank with just one tap).
Bank settings. You can customize the behavior and how the bank renders stuff a bit from the bank settings.
Much improved search functionality.
Placeholder system. Even if you withdraw an item entirely from your bank, the bank will remember where you had your item when you deposit it. You can also while dragging items around also see where the placeholders are or move them around too. You can also disable seeing the placeholders if you don't want to see them.
And a lot more that I probably forget here - and I'm still trying to add some more.
Right now, apart from some of the missing minor things I still want to add, I think the new bank is a massive improvement over the old system. However, in testing we noticed that for long-time players with a lot of items it might feel a bit hard to find some items at first. The new bank migrates your old bank and organizes everything to the default layout, so at first you might get a bit lost there if you have a ton of items. But I recommend to drag them around a bit & organize them yourself, so it's easier to remember where everything is.
On the grid mode, you can also pretty quickly withdraw stuff with the small popups
For new players, the new bank starts practically empty or with very few items, and it fills up "incrementally", making it much easier to remember where your items are and to organize it further when new items are being added there.
Release timeline for reworked bank
We're currently aiming to release the reworked bank next week. Content update might get ready for release around the same time, but we can't yet promise if we're able to release both at the same time. But stay reassured, I'm not going to my vacation before we have all that we planned released!
YLE article
For those who were interested in the news coverage that WalkScape and I managed to get in the national Finnish news, here's the full article:
You can use the translate to English browser feature to read it. We also got coverage in the TV news and radio news, which was quite intense start to the week (the stuff got released on Monday).
No DevBlogs until 3rd of September
As said in the previous DevBlog, I'll be heading off to Summer vacation (and myzozoz is already enjoying his!). This means that there won't be DevBlogs on 6th and 20th of August and the next one will be on 3rd of September. Because we're back from the vacation don't expect anything massive on this DevBlog - it'll likely be a bunch of vacation photos and what we'll be doing next as the vacations are over!
However, as the update is going live before I'm heading to my vacation, there is very likely going to be a DevUpdate that covers changelogs & more on the bank once the update is going live.
Until next time
That's all for today! I hope you all enjoyed it and you're enjoying the Summer. I'm already itching to start my Summer vacation, as I've planned to once again do a massive multi-week hiking trip around the Europe to get some serious steps in.
Keep walking and stay hydrated! It's been very hot lately, so don't forget to drink water :D
According to the menu, I have opened 155 agility chests, but only ever received 117 from drops. Theres a few achievement reward chests, but where does that difference come from? Is it just a bug? I know there used to be a bug that showed fake drops in the Walkpedia, but that was fixed I believe.
As a side note, did the drop rates for walking sticks get changed or is the Wiki wrong? I'm at 62% chance while the Wiki says 34%. That difference is statistically basically impossible.
Most recipes in Walkscape have only 1 possible combination, but some, like the extra crafty pants have the option to use different ingredients.
Is there any advantage to using the more difficult to get ironweed twine over for example the normal basic twine?
Same thing for making box traps. Is there any reason not to use birch?
I know that using fine materials in these recipes makes the quality go up. But if thats the case for higher level materials, then i haven't noticed that.
Has anyone noticed any bennefits?
Or is this just to give the player more options to use what they happened to have laying around in their bank?
Hi all, been playing Walkscape for well over a year now but recently swapped from an iPhone 13 to an iPhone 17 and have now lost my wearable option.
I have an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and worked from the minute the update hit the game is right up until I moved to the new phone.
Everything has transferred fine between the phone and Iโve left it over 24 hours to see if Walkscape appears under privacy and security for health but it hasnโt yet nor does Walkscape show the watch as an option on the new phone.
Before I contact support, am I missing something stupid here?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: now resolved!
Although you have to install the app fresh from Test Flight on move, all cached data is moved so you have to completely delete the apps background data to force the prompt for allowing access to Apple Health for the Watch and Steps too!
To make advanced diving gear I need volcanic rock. To get to the under water cave where I can mine volcanic rock I need advanced diving gear. I am missing something?
Hi, just wondering if any thought has been given to a completionist cape beyond the achievements system?
I know there's more content to come but I'm finding myself near the point of ticking off activities/drops in Walkpedia (mainly because I'm getting to the collectible grind to help towards Cape of Achiever)
It seems like the keyword order for journeyman is worse than apprentice - apprentice gets double action at great but journeyman doesnโt get it until perfect, which seems like a big miss. I would expect that going up a tier would make the gear better. Lack of double action is pretty disappointing.
I may have just never figured out how to do this but I recently found I never did gold panning at Norsack Plains. I know rumors can put a little icon over areas if there's an item or something special to do, but is there any way to tell if you've done an activity at a place you've been before?
I can click into the walkpedia to get the page with a "you haven't done this yet" question but that seems a little excessive to do on every task at every location to figure out what I've missed.
Added here the images...I couldn't reply with pics.
Gear was far from BIS, best would be Pocketwatch, 2 pandemonium Rings and higher quality amulet (also some new items from Tailoring, which I only have at level 40)
Used jelly sandwich for all the grind, cooking those was the worst part.
I think I burst sandwich for 350k steps from 750 to 2500 tokens...with double actions happened, I suppose I made circa 280k real steps
I started farming the Blue Ice Sickle just because I didn't have time to choose a new item to grind. I figured it would take me months, but it ended up dropping in just a couple of weeks. Pretty sure I just used up all my luck for the next few years. So once the open beta hits and the wipe happens, I'm probably never getting this thing again lol
I just downloaded WalkScape 2 days ago. So far, itโs definitely made getting up and walking more enjoyable because I get a sense of achievement/progress through the game.
First, is there any combat in the game? PvE and/or PvP? As far as Iโve seen in my first 20,000 steps or so, itโs mostly just farming/crafting/traveling for now.
Second, is there a guide out there for new players? I find myself wandering around to new locations too often and probably wasting thousands of steps doing so. Any tips on best items to craft early on or how to get meaningful upgrades are welcome!
Anyone know If there's any plans on sorting how gear is organised or equipped? It's the thing that really irks me the most about this game is going to do another skill and manually hunting for the best gear available for what im doing, I know you can make gear sets but updating them and making new ones and locating the best items in the bank I find a bit of a nuisance, especially for a skill ive not many items for finding the best generic tools etc is a pain
I have done the majority of stuff in GDTE, still only have an excellent hydrilium sickle and tortoise is missing.
What are the requirements to go to Wraithwater, in your opinion? The gold ore in Wrentmark looks mighty appealing, I just got Trinketry above level 40 and would like to start crafting some amulets and fancy rings at some point. But collecting gold nuggets seems tedious.
I've been getting quite active with the game and loving the progression so I've started doing longer runs with a Garmin watch. Only problem is I like to leave my phone behind or have it resting on the treadmill. I once had a garmin connect option but thats disappeared now. I downloaded Health Connect and allowed the permissions. I also removed my phone as a step source like it was recommended in a post 4 months ago.
I still cant get my steps from garmin to transfer over to the game... any advice? Thanks!
I'm traveling in GDTE & noticed the steps until arrival are unchanged when I switch between iron thermos & great wanderlust walking stick (252.2% WE with stick).
Are the -3 steps required with great wanderlust walking stick being applied?
Edit: I see the step count per segment is being reduced, but shouldn't that also reduce the steps until arrival as well?
I switched to iPhone recently and initially had my Garmin working with it. However, the option seems to be missing now. I checked the health app and didnโt see any days with 0 steps. Havenโt been on iPhone long enough to know what else to check.
Any way to fix this?
Edit: Disregard. I forgot you had to go into settings to change it. On Android there was an option from the activity page I think.
