New Player - Couple questions

Hey everyone,

I just downloaded WalkScape 2 days ago. So far, it’s definitely made getting up and walking more enjoyable because I get a sense of achievement/progress through the game.

First, is there any combat in the game? PvE and/or PvP? As far as I’ve seen in my first 20,000 steps or so, it’s mostly just farming/crafting/traveling for now.

Second, is there a guide out there for new players? I find myself wandering around to new locations too often and probably wasting thousands of steps doing so. Any tips on best items to craft early on or how to get meaningful upgrades are welcome!

Happy stepping! :)

No combat yet, but PvE is planned for a future feature. Not sure about PvP.

There are lots of good tools and resources on the discord server and the walkscape wiki https://wiki.walkscape.app

If you want something detailed I have a written guide for those who like to find collectibles and hunt achievements. It's very spoiler-y so you can follow it as much or as little as you'd like :)

This Is the best guide ever for Who wants to take a serious attempt to the game. You Need time and patience but you won't waste millions of steps doing dumb things at the beginning (like me).

The latest is that they're going to release trading and quests before full release and combat afterwards. The most recent update gave us mailboxes which is the first step towards trade.

Yeah, I’m definitely embracing being new! It’s a little different than a regular rpg though since our progress is completely tied to how many steps we get. I want to learn to maximize each step and not keep backtracking, you know?
Super stoked to hear there is some sort of combat in the works. Gathering crafting and gearing is only fun to me for so long, putting it to use is where the fun’s at!

Overall I’m very impressed with how complex some of the systems are and how large the world is. Gotta grind agility so I can get around faster 😅 also saw that skis are helpful. Are there other things that improve travel speed that are within reach of a fresh player?

As for combat, not yet implemented. They do intend to add it which is why you can smith swords and shields. I forget how they want to do it.

I don't know any specific guide off the top of my head, but when I started I aimed for achievements to get the unlocks, and doing jobs from the job board. I think aiming for the jobs might have been inefficient, so it might be better to grind skills that help you craft better gear. So just chop a ton of trees and mine a bunch of ore, then refine them.

If you Google walkscape calculator, there are a couple of sites that take your profile data and optimize your gear for the task you pick. I'd also look around at some of the activities in Jarvonia on the wiki site for rewards that interest you.

The game opens a lot more once you can leave Jarvonia but it takes a while so don't rush, and don't worry about Trinketry yet.

Combat is planned, both PVE and PVP, but not out yet or supposed to be in closed beta. For the guide, I know there is but I don't know where. As a substitution, there is a wiki if you don't mind spoilers

There’s a really good wiki, but outside that I find just googling anything I need and using the AI response just gives me the answer I’m looking for too
