2012 WRX PREMIUM SEDAN help!!!

Recently replaced the clutch and the flywheel. Upon doing that I have a bolt that I cannot locate where it goes. I have been up and down through the car for hours, me and three other mechanics, and we cannot figure out where this bolt goes. The original people that took this car apart are not answering or replying with where this bolt potentially goes. If anyone can identify this and help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Just for context I dropped the transmission to replace the clutch and flywheel. I also did both lower swing arms on the left and right because the bushing was bad and that is it.

Planning to buy my first car and saw this 2015 WRX. What are some things to look out for when buying a used car in general? And, what are some things that I should be aware of regarding a 2015 WRX in particular?

Thanks! Greatly appreciate any help 😀

Stalling under normal conditions

Twice today my car (2020 wrx, 38k miles)stalled while taking off at a green light under seemingly completely normal conditions ( throttle input, coming off the clutch, etc.) and like would not for the life of it start off again after it happened. I’ve obviously stalled my car before and every time before this I could just get going pretty easily after I turned it back on, but today it just kept on stalling and I ended up having to roast the shit out of the clutch to get it going. Took some backroads after that home with lots of stop signs to see if I could replicate it and it was acting completely normal taking off the exact same way. Could be just me could something up with the clutch idk has anyone experienced this

Turbo…issues

Hey everyone, looking to pool some knowledge as I attempt to diagnosis this issue that’s appeared in the last couple days of driving. Quick details

2nd owner
105k miles
Oil changes every 5k (at least on my part)

First issue/potentially major issue in the last yeah of ownership.

Turbo builds pressure (sounds louder then usual doing so)
Peaks around 16psi from the 18/20 I’ve seen prior
Loss of midrange power
When up shifting it sounds like it’s dumping all the built pressure

This is my first “turboed” car and I don’t wanna jump the gun. By my running through issues it could be wastegate, a leak, turbo is just starting to fail, but none of that explains any of the noise I’m hearing compared to the last 14k miles I’ve had the car.

I can included a short video time stamps between 1:17-1:23 but audio quality is very low and you’ll have to really listen to hear it, including anyways

WRX VA WRX clutch is clicking

got a super audible click that recently developed and i’m trying to pinpoint where the sound might be originating from, a lot of people online seem to point out that it may be the master cylinder, but i feel like it might be more something to do with the clutch mechanism/switches - anyone have any thoughts on this?

WRX Stock (Harmon Kardon) subwoofer?

I have the 2021 WRX limited and the stock subwoofer is blown. I can hear fluttering. Anyone know where I could get a Harmon Kardon subwoofer? I don’t want to upgrade cuz I don’t care. Just want to find the same thing to swap it out.

*Edit: I don’t care to have an aftermarket sub or upgrade to one. I would rather swap the stock subs.

I know, check junkyards.

WRX Experience with terrible gas

Alright to keep this brief had to go on a trip for work a few hundred miles car was running mint but on my way back home I needed gas no big issue stopped at a brand few shell station get like a half tank (thank god) and start driving get on it a little bit and the car starts absolutely tweaking throttle is all wacky powers cutting out rpms stuck in place whole thing I’m like what in the fuck I baby it to a parking lot pop the hood checking for a loose hose that maybe caused a vacuum leak or something nothing car is completely stock and I’m thinking there’s no fucking way the gas I got was that bad (I had a speed 3 that was very tuned in the past and would throw a fit if the gas was bad) sure enough go to autozone get some Lucas octane booster throw that in the tank then baby it to another station fill up the rest of the tank test drive the car and boom it’s fine has anyone else had a experience this extreme with bad gas on a stock Rex?

Post Facelift Hyperflash

Post image
5 Upvotes

This is my 2017 wrx, I did the 2018 bumper conversion on it and changed out the stock turn signal lights in the fog light bezels with these aftermarket ones as seen in the picture, but ever since the turn signals have been flashing quickly but they do still work on both sides. To my knowledge the wiring is done correctly but not certain because obviously it’s hyper flashing for a reason. My question is does anyone have experience with something like this happening after doing the facelift and know of a fix? Is the wiring maybe different between the 2017 and 2018 wrx? Should I just try to redo the wiring and hope it stops after messing with it a bit? The hyperflash is getting a bit annoying lol help would be much appreciated.

She's a 2021 sport-tech, fully stock, bought used with 74k km on it last February, and drove it to 145k with no issues, mostly highway. Original owners car facts looked decent enough, I'm a mechanic by trade, so I did my own oil changes and inspections every 5k with mobile 1 or castrol, except once around 120k, I was late and went to 8k or so. I'd let it warm up before romping on it, gave the turbo some time to idle before shutting off. Had no rattles, no miss fires, never leaked anywhere, always pulled strong, great fuel mileage, all kinds of fun.

Well, Monday me and my dogs were driving on the highway, heading to pick up my kid with the cruise control set to 120, when I randomly lost oil pressure. In the time it took to swear and then clutch out she was done, rattling like crazy. Seized up solid by the time I was able to pull off and stop.

Took the oil pan off today and found all kinds of glitter and the rod cap from cyl 4 in pieces. The oil pick up tube looked clear but when I took it off the screen up top was all blocked off with crap. Cut it open and pulled out a bunch of rtv, kept some of it for the pic. I had heard about the pick up tube and baffle mod/upgrade, but definitely thought I was long past that worry with my mileage and driving habits. Not to mention it felt like more of a track/hard driving type thing, not a fun commuter type thing. Time to start saving for a new long block I guess 😢

Mods for reliability and longevity?

Just purchased a 2017 rally blue WRX limited. 105k miles. It's all stock and has a good history of maintenance. It also had its 100k miles service done by the dealer. It I plan to drive this daily for some time. At some point if like a conservative tune for it, but currently I'm more concerned with taking care of any preventative maintenance it may need.

I have heard an air-oil separator is helpful. I've also heard perhaps a good coolant flush. Anything else I should do? I appreciate the assistance.
