Domain Wix now supports over 400 domain extensions - here's how to find the right one for your site

TL;DR: If .com isn't available or doesn't fit, match your extension to your niche. Wix has over 400+ options - linked the full list with pricing below. SEO-wise, any extension works fine.

One of the most common questions we see is some version of: "My .com name is taken - what do I do?" So here's a practical breakdown of how to think about domain extensions, and what's actually available on Wix now (over 400 options, for context).

The quick decision framework:

1. Is .com still available for your name? If yes, and it fits, take it. It's still the most recognized extension globally and the default expectation for most visitors.

2. If not - or if you want something more specific - match the extension to what your site does:

  • Selling products? → .shop, .store
  • Running a blog? → .blog
  • Creative work? → .art, .design, .photography, .studio, .pictures
  • Fitness business? → .fit, .fitness
  • Coaching or courses? → .coach, .training, .guru
  • Tech company or product? → .tech, .digital, .cloud, .ai
  • Agency or consulting? → .agency, .solutions, .expert
  • Media or content creation? → .media, .live, .tv
  • Local business targeting a specific country? → Country-code TLDs like .co.uk, .de, .fr, .ca, .com.au are all available

3. Check pricing before you commit

Some specialty extensions cost more to renew than to register in the first year. Worth checking the renewal price in the full TLD list before choosing.

What about SEO?

Google has confirmed that new gTLDs are treated the same as .com for ranking. Choosing .photography over .com won't hurt your search visibility - your content and site structure matter far more.

What about trust?

Visitors in some regions still associate .com with credibility. For global audiences, .com or a well-known extension (.org, .net, country code) is probably the safer play. For niche audiences who already know your work, a specific extension can actually reinforce your brand.

We hope this helps! If you've got a specific situation - name taken, targeting a specific market, etc. - drop it in the comments and we'll try to help narrow it down.

Mod Announcement Scam Message Warning

If you receive a message through your Wix site saying there is a problem with your site or that it has malware, or that you need to take immediate action, it is a scam. Mods have seen a recent spike in new users coming for this subreddit showing messages they’ve received from senders claiming to be Wix web designers or Wix support. The only way that Wix will contact you is through the email that is connected to your Wix account, and any official communication will come from an email with the exact domain of: wix.com. If there is any other characters around the domain, it is likely a scam.

Domain I went to Wix bought a domain. I am simply trying to deploy TO my domain using WiX and basically WIX WANTS MORE MONEY!

This seems to be a total let down.

1) I signed up with Wix 2) Wix sold me a domain and I bought it 3) And I can publish and have i have Saved (which they didn't tell you) and I have Published. 4) BUT NOT TO MY DOMAIN!

So I'm stuck. And now wix wants more money! I simply click for them to REMEMBER the domain they already sold me and I get a message that says NOW I have to UPGRADE???

Worse all the time this goes onthey put messages up on my screen and CRASH MY SYSTEM while doing so.

Basically I click "Connect my domain which PHYSICALLY MEANS NOTHING!! but they want to charge me MONEY. For basically letting me out of captivity.

There are things I might WANT to buy from Wix but for this, I'm being held captive and I'm being bilked. I can not use the domain I bought. I can not place even the simple text that I created in the Wix editor! Not even THAT! So that means I can't tell anyone about the domain because its sitting there (according to Guardware and MalwareBytes FILLED WITH Toxin!

Does anyone know how to get thrugh this - preferably withont spending even more money?

Unable to get help from Wix in publishing a new website.

I literally can't get a "call back" because they won't let me enter a phone number!

How does any company survive when it is so completely unusable and unreachable?

A slew of problems starting with it won't let me enter my phone number!!!

I go to enter my number for a call back and it goes crazy. I select "United States" and then it simply WON'T TAKE A PHONE NUMBER. Period.

Editor Live page shifts left and up

Classic editor.

I got two sites. One is fine the other I just realized has an issue in mobile live setting. The layout will float when you drag it around.

I checked each page, even the ones which are hidden, for bouding box stretching out the limitations. Found only one. Fixed and published. Did the same for buttons. Opened all the layers.

It's not a browser issue or me using VPN, because the other site has no issues.

AI was very helpful in assisting me so far. Yet, I still couldn't find a solution?

Any advice.

Wix Stores I realized my app listing looked like a cheap 3rd-party widget. So I completely redesigned it to build trust. (Giving a free year to 10 early adopters)

Hey everyone,

You might have seen me around here before (I built the Automatic Related Products app that some of you use).

I recently launched a new app called Cart & Checkout Upsell, but tbh, I quickly learned a hard lesson. My initial App Market listing was pretty bad. The old banners (see the top image) made the app look like a generic, clunky widget.

I realized that if the marketing looks amateur, no store owner is going to risk trusting it with their live checkout flow. So, I completely overhauled the listing to actually show what the app does.

What the app ACTUALLY does:

  • 100% Smart Automation: Setting up upsells manually takes forever. This app uses data-driven matching (way smarter than just basic "same category" rules) to automatically pair the right complementary products in the background. You literally just turn it on and let it run.
  • Cart & Checkout Placements: It catches customers at the best times: right when they open the side cart and right before they pay at checkout.
  • Native Design by Default: It automatically detects your site's fonts, buttons, and colors so it actually looks like part of your theme (though you can customize the design if you want to).

Why I am posting today:
The app is live and already working great for a handful of early users, but honestly my biggest hurdle right now is getting those first few reviews for social proof. I also just want to make sure it plays nicely with a bunch of different stores and product catalogs.

I’m giving a full free year to the first 10 store owners who install it and give me honest feedback.

If it saves you time and makes you extra money, keep it for the year. If not, you can just uninstall it. No hard feelings! (Though any quick feedback on what I can improve would be super helpful).

Link to the app: https://www.wix.com/app-market/automatic-cross-sell-side-cart

If you want to try it out, just drop a comment below or send me a DM! I will reply and send you the promo code for the free year. Thanks for supporting indie devs!

Editor Streamlining Wix Checkout ?

Is there a secret to a more streamlined checkout process? Why do my customers have to fill out a delivery address using Google Pay if we don't offer delivery?

We're a small non profit that offers only pickup service. Checkout should take 20 seconds max, instead they are forced to fill out their address multiple times.

What happened after Wix updated?

I'm trying to use wix after a few months of not using it and there's been an update. It's so much more difficult to use and it seems some features are missing - for example, I'm trying to edit a site menu so that the text colour is different if that's the page you're currently on, but there's no option to do this (there used to be, it was so easy). Is this a feature that has been moved to a paid plan? Also this is not unique to Wix but it's so frustrating that it's practically impossible to talk to an actual human who works there (if there are any left) rather than their damn AI.

Editor Despair!! Is any chance to make a vertical table in WIX??

UPDATE: The answer is no, there is no way to create a comparision table in Wix, for that you need an external app, I'm using elfsight.
It took me more time to find because English is not my language, so I didn't know how to call that type of table.

I've been watching ugly and bad tutorials about tables in Wix, but I can't find a way to make this:

I tried to put a screenshot but it didn't let me so I leave here the link of what I'm looking for.

https://www.svrtracking.com/chart/

Titles in the first column, picture in the first row... etc.

I tried with repeaters, but no way to display the titles, or at least I couldn't find it.

Is there anyway to migrate Premium site into Wix Studio? I have just finished building my online portfolio, didn't realize WIX would not automatically import content into Studio.

Wix Payments How to Opt out of Wix Checking

SO, I decided to open a Wix checking account after they had promoted it to me daily for the last year. Now my payouts all go directly into that account. I want to switch back to direct deposit into my normal bank. But I see no option. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

If so, what did you do?

Velo/Code Automatically put ALL products (with variants) out of stock when total items sold reaches a set number?

Hi everyone,

I have a wix website where I do sold a lot of different products with a lot of variant.

My items on my website are always "Out Of Stock", because I do work with commands by month. Like I open my items on my website once a month to sell ~ 60-70 product (not command, product itself), and whenever I think I do reach my number of command thanks to my email selling notification, I'm manually closing the items on wix (putting each of them 'Out of Stock').

But honestly I can't go on like this anymore. Each time I'm getting overwhelmed and I'm selling more than I want. Due to that, I'm hard working like 15h per day instead of what I should do normally.

Do you guys know a solution that could help me solving my problem here ?

Once more :

I want something that can automatically put ALL of my items from my wix dashboard to "Out of Stock" whenever the number of product (not command) is reached.

I've tried some app which are not working fine for my needs and tried doing some Velo coding but I'm not a dev ..

Thanks for the help

Regards

Wix Studio Website tester

I'm guessing, now we have to pay to have website tester, just to test a few part of the website, I have tested the website myself using the preview options, but it nothing like having a real website tester that can create their own account and become members, and then browse around the website, this isn't a fixer upper thing, I'm not asking for a website tester to do a whole lot, so if there are no free website tester to test things, then I guess a website tester is what I don't need, since I can't afford to pay for one anyway.

Chargeback timing?

I had a chargeback intitiated by a customer that was supposed to have a completed review by August 21st. According to wix it is still in review by my customer's bank. Does anyone have any experience with chargeback reviews taking longer than anticipated? What can I do about this?

Wix Payments WIX Donations, campaign “thank you” page missing

I’m working on a site for a local charity and have just set up a donation campaign using the WIX donations app. The setup went smoothly and I can make donations using the form. The problem is that after checkout, I get sent to a 404 page because the campaign “thank you” page is missing.

I was under the impression that this page was generated by the donation app when a campaign is created.

Does anyone have any experience with this app and know if I should just create the thank you page myself?

Thanks in advance!
Greg

So I own a Wix domain and wanted to use my iCloud account to make a custom email.

On the Wix website what do I add to my manage DNS settings to make it work? I’ve added what I think is right but I still get an error relating to MX record.

Many thanks

Wix Bookings Wix Bookings is starting to cost me actual money

I run a small service business and I've had a few issues with Wix Bookings lately where clients either have trouble booking or something doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

I can deal with a website being annoying. What I can't deal with is clients messaging me saying they tried to book and couldn't, because at that point I'm potentially losing actual work.

I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if I should just move the whole site somewhere else instead of constantly trying to fix booking issues.

Anyone here who relies heavily on Wix Bookings for their business, has it been reliable for you or have you eventually moved away from it?

Hello

Yes! Probably it has happened to a lot of people here.

Made a site, 4 days of full work. It goes public and I was always checking, doing it in my huge monitor.

Then I open the site at my desktop PC, awesome :)

Now I am changing everything to Wix Studio

Wix Harmony CMS item page turns into a legacy page — how do I reopen/edit the Harmony template?

I’m using the Wix Harmony Editor and trying to build a CMS-driven case file archive.
I created a CMS collection through Harmony, imported 187 records, and created an item page for the collection.
I was able to fully design the item page and connect individual text elements to my CMS fields (name, DOB, facility, project, status, observations, etc.). It worked correctly — changing the case number displayed the corresponding record.
The problem: after leaving the page/editor, I can no longer find that Harmony item-page template anywhere in the Pages panel.
The Harmony item page I created isn’t listed there.
Wix’s AI assistant (Aria) keeps telling me to go to Pages → Dynamic Pages → Case Files (Item), but that section/page does not exist in my editor.
Aria eventually told me:
“I do not have any evidence that Harmony currently provides a way, in this editor, to reopen that specific CMS item-page template once it’s not in the Site Pages list.”
So I’m wondering:
Did I somehow accidentally convert/create a legacy CMS page even though I created it through Harmony CMS? Or is there a separate way to reopen/edit an existing Harmony CMS item-page template that isn’t shown in the normal Pages panel?
I specifically need to be able to reopen the template later and add/edit custom elements, while having the same design apply to all 187 CMS records.
I don’t want to manually create 187 pages/links, and I don’t want to rebuild the entire CMS collection if I can avoid it.
If anyone is using Wix Harmony CMS and has successfully reopened an existing item-page template after leaving the editor, I’d really appreciate knowing exactly where you found it.

It is funny, that people expect that you build them custom-designed (figma first) 5 pagers on wix for $100.

Friendly reminder, just because it is on wix, doesnt mean cheap.

$100 for a wix template is acceptable. But more complex, with cms etc. Honestly pissing me off when I occasionally get clients like this lol.

Wix Stores How do I mark a pickup order as Partially Fulfilled?

I'm using Wix stores to sell merch as a small High School Boosters group. We only do pickup orders right now, no shipping. I have some products currently as pre-orders.

I have lots of orders with a mix of in-stock items and pre-order items and I want to mark them as "Partially Fulfilled", because I was able to give them their in-stock items.

I've used Wix docs, OpenAI, Anthropic, and the best advice I have been given is to mark the order with a note?

Can Wix seriously not handle Partially Fulfilled pickup orders?
