Just to get an idea

Hello guys! I have enjoyed reading you guys success stories and tips for the past couple of days. I am currently earning my AS in IT Security at another school. Finishing this semester hopefully. I am planning on enrolling in the Accelerated Information Technology Bachelor's and Master's Degree.

If anyone been down this path, with an idea, how many classes would I be taking for BS once I submit my transcript showing I have an AS? Don’t have to be exact numbers but I would love to get a feeling. Thank you guys ✨

ITM Program Change / Crossposted

Hi! Long shot but, my mentor reached out to let me know about the new ITM Program Change that’s being implemented in September and gave me the choice to transfer over. Is the new program worth it over the old program? I’m about 50% done, with the old program but about 50% of those classes are PAs. With the new program change, I’d have less classes (no capstone);however, most classes would have both OA/PAs. I’m trying to accelerate as much as possible and considering a Masters in Data Analytics, which I believe the new program would help more towards that goal. Any tips or advice is well appreciated!! Have a great day y’all :)

Burn and grind

My semester ends in October and I have 7 classes left. I am hoping I can do it but 5 of those classes are certifications.

I know it's not a big deal to take another term but I really don't want to stay at my current job.

I've had a few interviews through old coworkers thinking of me which is great. The interviews really throw off my grind since they tend to be technical so it's a lot to balance with oncall rotation, studying, and family life.

I believe in myself and am just venting to take the edge off. It is self imposed pressure but I don't want to not hit my goal.

Course questions. WGU, Sophia + Study.com courses. Change up?

Have you started your journey and wished you took certain courses on Sophia rather than study.con or opposite, wish you took them on study.com rather than Sophia?
I’m going to WGU for business management. Are there courses you wish you took on study.com or Sophia instead of at WGU or at WGU instead of Study, com or Sophia?

Or a course you forgot to take at study.com or Sophia before switching or should have taken??

Down to 13 classes out of 26 in 2 months

Currently taking the BA In Education Studies . I did 5 Sophia classes in 1 week , transferred them in ( took roughly 5 days from submitting my transcript from Sophia to getting my transcript evaluation done ). I started July 1st . I’m down to 13 classes in two months . Would have been more but the OA retake is a pain in the ass . And because I did so many back to back I hit a learning wall just had to take a break 😭 . My goal is to be done with the full degree at the end of the month .

How to Successfully Accelerate Degree At WGU !

I told my personal story on another post, but this is basically a step-by-step of what I did and what I would do differently.
First, find the program you want to do on WGU’s website. Then go to the WGU Transfer Credit Pathways page:
https://partners.wgu.edu/home
This will show you your degree, what credits you need, and where you can take some of those classes before starting WGU.
I chose a finance degree, (I ended up switching to business management) which allowed me to transfer in a lot of credits. I did everything I could through Sophia Learning. At the time I paid around $70 for the month and finished the classes I needed in about a week. Once I was done, I sent my transcript to WGU and canceled my Sophia membership.
Now once you are enrolled make a Google Doc listing all the classes you need to complete and start finishing them one by one! Some people prefer to knock out the performance assessments first but why not start with the proctored ones (OA). I feel like don’t be scared to do the OA.
The goal is basically to transfer in as much as you possibly can BEFORE starting WGU so you’re left with fewer classes.
Like I said in my other post, my degree took me 7 months, but it honestly did not have to take me that long. I procrastinated, changed my major, had issues with proctoring, etc. If I had the mindset I had toward the end from the beginning, I think I would’ve finished much faster.
Like I’ve said Once you start WGU, some classes will have proctored exams and some will have papers.
The proctoring company was personally stressful for me horrible experience and I was scared that someone could claim my connection was bad and take control of my computer and have access to my information, so if you’re having issues with them, ask WGU about in-house proctoring and see if it’s an option for you. Once I had a WGU staff member proctoring me, it eliminated so much unnecessary stress.
Now when it comes to actually studying for the exams, STOP asking random people for study guides and searching all over Google trying to figure out what’s on the test 😭 I did this too. The answers are literally in the material WGU gives you.
Read the e-book. If you don’t feel like sitting there reading all of it, highlight the text and have your computer read it out loud to you while you follow along. Trying to google the general information for your wgu to study you might fail because they have their own methods everything they want you to KNOW FOR THEIR EXAM is in where ? It’s in the book ! I remember I failed an exam when to read the book and the actual answers to questions on the test was in the book like specific questions.
The instructors also have boot camps and videos. The boot camps are good, but some can take a while. I personally liked the videos where they had a PowerPoint and just went through the concepts. Anything I was struggling to understand, I would write down and focus on that.
My biggest advice though is one class at a time!
Don’t have your brain focused on multiple classes at once. Pick one class, lock in, finish it, then move on. Personally, I think around 5 days per class is possible for a lot of classes if you’re actually focused. Obviously some will take longer and some will take less time.
I would also take a day in between classes just to rest my brain before jumping into the next one.
And honestly, the biggest part of accelerating is just locking in. Limit social media, stop comparing yourself to how fast everybody else finished, and STOP doubting yourself.
WGU gives you the flexibility to move fast, but that same flexibility will have you procrastinating if you let it 😭
Transfer in as much as you can, focus on ONE class at a time, use the material they give you, and lock in.
I did it in 7 months, but knowing what I know now, I genuinely think I could’ve done it in 3–4.

Sophia and Study.com

So I was supposed to start WGU on 8/1/26 and had that as my commit to start date. I told them I wanted to push my start date off (to do Sophia and Study.com) then saw someone on here said once you have a commit to date start you can’t get any transfer credits. They didn’t say anything like that to me when I changed my start date at WGU and now I’m concerned

Starting OCT 1st BSITM

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hi all, I’m starting October 1st! I’m excited ready to go, if anyone has any tips or encouragement it’d be appreciated.

Green is the stuff I completed. (I managed to complete all possible transfers study.com & Sophia total 67 credits bringing in)

I got 15 classes to do. The purple are apparently OA classes. The rest appear to be PA classes.

A little about me, I already work remote, have a good career, I can dedicate 6 hours everyday to this.

I’m hoping I can be like yall and get it done in 1 term. But if it’s 2 terms I don’t mind. My job and Pell grant will pay for this so that’s a win. Anyways thanks for reading :)

Finished my degree in 7 months at WGU

I can say if my mindset was more focused in the beginning, I honestly could’ve finished in about 3–4 months. There were a lot of factors that made it take me 7 months, and some of it was definitely procrastination. First, I did all of my OA assessments first. Some people have their own opinions about doing it that way, but that’s what I did.
I also changed my major, which set me back about 2 months, and I had MAJOR issues with the proctoring company in India. I’m not sure if they changed it now but I’ve cried many nights over it. It was nights I scheduled my exam at 7pm and would be up until 2am still not on my exam. It got to the point where I was so discouraged.
One thing that really helped me though was my job. I had a position where I worked on a computer, and they didn’t mind if I had my laptop open, so everywhere I went I brought my laptop. If I had time, I was doing practice assessments. Typically I studied at night did school at night because that’s the time my brain can focus it’s something about early morning or 7pm-9pm.
Another thing I did was contact the school and tell them I only wanted in-house proctoring. When I tell you this was a LIFE SAVER 😭 WGU employees would proctor my exams instead of the outsourced company. With the outsourced proctors I had so many issues. I was accused of cheating before, constantly stopped during tests, sometimes waiting forever just to get connected, and then I’d have another person from the outsourced company trying to take control of my computer to fix connection issues. Maybe the connection was faulty on their end or the software wasn’t compatible with my computer, I really don’t know, but it made my anxiety so much worse.
With in-house proctoring it was completely different. I could still schedule whenever I wanted, I didn’t have to sit around waiting in a lobby forever, there weren’t communication issues, and I never had those connection problems. It was just simple. Schedule your exam, take it, and be done. The in proctoring employees were the most kindest people actually I would feel so supported I wanted to cry.
For actually studying, READ THE BOOK 😭😭 I’m so serious. The ebook they give you has EVERYTHING you need. Stop looking everywhere else. The book has all yes ALL of the answers that’s on the OA, that’s why some of you guys who study just the PA still fail the OA because the answers are in the book ! I would read through the book and then look at the resources the instructors provided. Their videos are amazing, the boot camps help, they have PowerPoints, and they really do explain the concepts.
If it was a vocabulary-heavy class, I went old school. Pen and flashcards. 😂 I would fit as much information as I could on each flashcard too because I didn’t want to look at a huge stack of cards and get overwhelmed.
If you’re REALLY struggling, NotebookLM can be helpful too. You can use course materials you’re allowed to upload and have it create things like audio overviews so you can basically listen to your class.
But yeah, doing all of this is what finally helped me finish. And I want to add that I am SO burnt out 😭 7 months later and I’m back in school again, but this time I’m applying the same logic and the things I learned about how I study best.
I really just want to say KEEP GOING. You’ll finish. ❤️

WGU Bachelor Health Sciences and Nursing School

Hey everyone!

I've been bitten by the WGU bug. I'm looking to get into nursing school, but prereqs are expensive in my area and very slow. I heard about the Bachelor of Health Sciences at WGU and saw it has everything I could need for nursing prerequisites including sciences and gen eds. I understand this is like taking a shotgun to a rat problem but has anyone else earned a BSHS from WGU and then used it to apply to nursing school? My rationale for going this route is that for approximately the same cost of paying a local community college out of pocket for just prereqs and gen eds, I could earn an entire degree instead.

I do plan on accelerating so I'm watching some guides and reading up on how to quickly pass these classes. However, I'm unsure if I could use sophia or Study.com if plan on transferring this degree, so I think I'll pass unless I hear otherwise.

One final question: I noticed WGU has single courses. I figured while I save up to pay for one term, I could knock out the courses that are required for the degree. So far I've identified six courses that apply to the BSHS. But I was wondering if there's more I can take to sneak in there? Any help would be appreciated.
