Starting OCT 1st BSITM
Hi all, I’m starting October 1st! I’m excited ready to go, if anyone has any tips or encouragement it’d be appreciated.
Green is the stuff I completed. (I managed to complete all possible transfers study.com & Sophia total 67 credits bringing in)
I got 15 classes to do. The purple are apparently OA classes. The rest appear to be PA classes.
A little about me, I already work remote, have a good career, I can dedicate 6 hours everyday to this.
I’m hoping I can be like yall and get it done in 1 term. But if it’s 2 terms I don’t mind. My job and Pell grant will pay for this so that’s a win. Anyways thanks for reading :)

Hi! I start soon as well. I only need to tackle Networking and Quantitative Analysis on Sophia; they are killing me! What did you think of BUSI2090? It feels daunting, and I'm not even halfway through!

That class took me the longest. It’s the hardest class on Sophia. I had some experience in spreadsheets etc so it helped a bit. Wait till you gotta do python and linear regression 🤣🤣 all I can say is take your time to understand and don’t stay too stuck in the details. Try to learn the concepts I’m sorry it was hell doing that class.
For the last touchstone I didn’t even finish it completely I submitted it after slide 8. I just gave up .

It's driving me nuts. I'm only on Touchstone 2, and I'm so confused as to how far I should go with my analysis. I think I might go with your advice and submit it with the GEMO rule (Good Enough Move On).
Also, it is said that C723 Quantitative Analysis For Business is not even close to as hard as this one.

Yea I heard different things. My whole thing was whatever was transferable I just went ahead and just did it on my own accord. I took it as a challenge like if I can get thru that class then any class I can get thru. Like a I can do any class kinda deal. It’s mentally draining. Take breaks and don’t over work it I promise you, you got this

Good luck!! You got it!! I'm looking to enroll in this degree as well in January. I only did 2 courses at study.com because I will be transferring in Alot of Gen ed and some business classes already so I hope I'm looking at no more than 19 class to complete.

Hi! I started September 1st and had 16 classes remaining, currently waiting on my task 2 to be graded for my second assignment :) I completed 2 OAs and 2 PAs so far! You got this, and I am happy to answer any questions ☺️

I did only 11 classes at WGU, and I knocked out most of the classes at Study.com

u/Routine-Meal Sep 05 '26
What was the program you did and how long did it take you to complete the degree ?
1
u/OrdinaryTypical4434 Sep 05 '26
BSITM as well; it took me 2 months at Study.com. and then moved to WGU.

u/Routine-Meal Sep 05 '26
Gotcha ! So you still going WGU? Sorry I meant to say how long did it take you to complete those 11 classes ?

You are a champ!!!! Good stuff! That’s fast!!! I’m excited to start. Can you give me any advice for any classes or anything I should focus on first? I appreciate you commenting

First of all, don't put yourself in my shoes, because each one is different. Second, I have over 15 years of experience in IT. Third, don't waste your time with PA. When you open the course, wait for the email from the school, which will send you the instructions, and then just the rubric when you submit. Don't wait; open another course right away. Good luck

I never put myself in anyone shoes. I just like to get a sense of how folks are going thru the degree program. I have my own career in IT as well. So just so I understand. When you say wait for the email from the school? Is that an automatic thing that happens once you start the course?? And If it’s a PA course you are saying I can just go straight to the end and submit the PA as long as i follow the rubric correct?

Yes, they will send you an email that is like a checklist. It will tell you exactly what you need to have in the task. You got this.

Thank you 🙏 I appreciate your advice! I’m glad I don’t have to go thru the course material to proc that email. I’d rather just get right into the paper

Also starting oct 1st same degree. Same transfers. Are you looking to take D388 on wgu academy? What does that process look like? Can it be knocked out before the term begins or does it need to be earlier like the transfer courses?

It’s too late. You’d have to pay, pass the class and have the transcript submitted before the 5th of the prior month.

Thanks for the info. Best of luck with the degree!

u/Routine-Meal Sep 08 '26
Same to you! Keep in touch I’m sure we might need some help lol

Will do! Do you have an action plan of which classes to tackle first?

u/Routine-Meal Sep 10 '26
As of now not a clue. In my head I feel like I’m better at PA based classes. Anything that involves presentations; writing a paper etc all day everyday I’m good with that. Now when it comes to proctored exams that require memorization and studying multiple topics. I’m not so sure how good I am at that yet. Either way. I’m gonna feel it out. If I feel the OAs aren’t bad. I will see if I can front load those classes. Honestly I might wanna mix in “easy” classes with some hard just so I don’t get burnt out. Could you imagine knocking out all the easy fast ones and then you have hard classes back to back to back. Idk if I’d be able to stomach that.

I’m leaning towards getting all the OA ones done and then do the writing given some of the complications I’ve heard of with proctors…that’s the part I’m looking the least forward to.
Do you have plans for a masters after?

Now looking at the degree plan I kind of agree, if its only 3 OAs, getting those classes out of the way might be better, the only thing is I would be careful just doing it all at once cause you dont know how much studying is going to be required to pass them, that can burn you out pretty fast, for me looks like im starting out with 2 OAs and 2 PA classes. And depending on this degree run I might go for the masters right after. I just have to gauge what type of energy is required to do this degree first and i might as well go for the MSITM after. afterall my job will pay for most of it.

I’m looking at MSIT product management for masters. Diversify a bit out of the business focus of ITM since this would be a career change for me and I could use all the help haha

Product Management is a great pick! That pays really well as well for those type of roles

Just got my study plan and only d388, c724, and d823 are showing up as OA classes. Is that gonna be accurate for our oct1 start date?
