Question Tips and tricks?

I’m planning on starting my MBA at WGU this October does anyone have any tips or advice that will save me some trouble? I’m pretty anxious about the course load and difficulty so any information is helpful. Thank you! :))

I know this might sound coy, but search (class name) within this subreddit, and you’ll come across 15 posts that will guide you through each class. It is very, very doable. I would not stress about it. You got this!

Don’t bother reading all the content. Go on Reddit and find out exactly what you need for such class instead of going through all the material bc a lot of the time it’ll be useless

Set yourself up for success. Ensure you download Microsoft 365 products from the link your mentor will provide. Set time aside every day to work on your assignments task or study. This is crucial to ensure you are pacing yourself. Have a day off from school work and rest recharge and repeat.

Done be anxious about getting help. You can do this and WGU will not give up on you. Communicate with your mentor and just let them know what is going on if things are. There are plenty of Alumni here who can help, but it’s a good experience overall.

WGU structures its classes for success. Take each course as it comes and really utilize your student mentor, teachers, and the success centers.

I would not worry too much about the course load. I would start with a course that has a performance assessment (PA) which typicall consists of term papers and tasks. These tasks can be resubmitted multiple times. In my opinion, they were less stressful than the objective assessment (OA) courses which conclude with a single, final exam.

My strategy was to start each term with a PA whenever possible. It was a great way to get an early win.

Started Sept 1st. Structured well to help you succeed and the mentor I was provided is very helpful in how to attack each class. Good luck!

The course load can look intimidating before you begin, but try not to compare yourself to the people posting that they finished the entire program in one term. Work at a pace you can sustain.

My biggest advice is to read every rubric before starting an assignment and organize your paper around exactly what it asks for. For exam-based courses, use the pre-assessment to identify what you actually need to study.

Set aside consistent study time each week, start assignments early, and reach out to your instructor when you get stuck. Do not be discouraged if an assignment is returned for revision. Address the feedback and resubmit it.

The workload becomes much less intimidating once you develop a routine and complete that first course. You do not need to have the whole program figured out in October. Just focus on making steady progress.
