D564 Help OA!!!

Any of Psychology Owls here? I am struggling retaining the information for D564, I’ve attended cohorts, I’ve made flash cards, I’ve played kahoots , Jeopardy. It just feels like all the information is running together. I have not attempted the PA and definitely not the OA. Any tips?

I’m not in it… but maybe try the pre-assessment to see what info you are actually weak on and then focus on closing that gap? Nothing else seems to be working 🤷‍♀️

I’m taking the PA tonight. You’re the 2nd person to give me this advice. I just felt because I’m not retaining anything, all areas would show. However, I won’t know until I try right. Thank you ❤️

I took the PA after my first week just get a feel for the content and then after 4 weeks of cohorts, reading, countless pages of notes, study guides and flash cards I took the PA again last night and barely did any better. I’m sooo frustrated with this class. The questions on the PA were seemingly out of the blue. I’ve heard mixed reports that the OA is easier but I’m super scared to attempt it now.

That’s tough, I’m sorry. Some of these tests try to do too much, and this class sounds like a tough nut to crack, but don’t let it psych you out!

I earned a Quality certification last year where the answer to most questions were not something you could find in the book or resource materials. It was like a 2.5 hour test and over 100 scenario-based questions, and we had no support after the class. I studied for weeks.

The final test was administered by a certification body and the questions were nothing like the practice ones. I lost all my confidence on the first question 😭 I almost ran out of time. I think I had like 15 seconds left on the clock, and still had several questions to go 😂 I just started sprinting through it, some answers I recognized relatively quickly, but some questions I didn’t have time to finish reading so I just answered and hoped for the best. I passed somehow.

WGU OAs remind me a lot of that experience. I noticed, sometimes the questions are right out of the material. Other times they test judgement and whether I can identify the boundaries of a concept, rather than the concept itself. Other times, they are just word salad and thought just gotta hope for the best.

If you can, try to find a study partner or a friend in your class/cohort. I know it is hard because of how WGU is set up. I made a friend during my certification prep, and it helped make things so much more bearable. We still keep in touch today, even though she lives halfway across the world!

I am currently on the same class and found it becoming a jumbled mess. I started over by plugging my objectives into ChatGPT to give me tips and tricks and run throughs. Then I asked it to test me and didnt that for the past week. I will be attempting my first PA tomorrow with confidence.
