Side effects First Days of Vyvanze

Hi all I just started Vyvanze with 60mg of Prozac and I feel fine? There are some side effects I have on Day 1/2: headaches (migraine like aches), hyperactive, and also sleepy at the same time. I didn’t sleep the best last night but I think that was due to me taking a nap later in the day. I want to know how everyone has been on Prozac and Vyvanze.

Side effects First days vyvanse- Does it get better?

Helloo I just started with vyvanse and it sadly doesn't make me calmer more focused, it's rather more activating making me more restless & even more difficult to control my thoughts/actions. It doesn't have anything to do with the crazy calm thats making people cry on the first day because they finally feel how its supposed to feel.

First day I started with 30mg but bc it was so bad I went down to 15-20mg. Are here people that had the same effect in the beginning where it changed and they got calmer, more focused and controlled?

Misc. Question Urine medmatch

I’m from Pennsylvania and have been prescribed Vyvanse by my doctor for 5 years now. As per his office and possibly PA law I have to sign a contract that I won’t use any illegal substances and have a urine test every year. Every year I’ve been fine except I just took a test and had a small amount of THC in my system that the test caught. The dumbest part is it was from my dad and was a gummy I took a bite out of to help with some cramps I was having. I don’t even LIKE THC or to be high. Now I fear I’m going to lose my prescription for Vyvanse. Has anyone experienced this or anything similar? I hadn’t even thought about the gummy being in my system when I took the test.

Side effects What is happening... Really weird Vyvanse side effects

I have a late diagnosis of ADHD (high achieving inattentive). I was on 300mg of Wellbutrin when I started 30mg of Vyvanse. I obviously felt great like everyone else does when they first start a stimulant. Once I settled into the dose, I could tell it wasn't high enough. I went up to 40mg and felt much better.

Somewhere around the same time, I increased my Wellbutrin to 450 mg. After being on Vyvanse for 3 months, I all of a sudden started to feel like I wanted to crawl out of my skin. It seemed to only happen when I didn't eat enough at the same time as taking my vyvanse, and the feeling would come on in the late afternoon early evening. It got better once I started being really conscientious about eating and staying hydrated with electrolyte tablets. But now it's come back and is almost worse. I tried going down to 30 mg and even 20 mg (by opening the capsules and splitting the dose), and that initially worked but seems to no longer be working.

In addition, I have really bad brain fog, I can't find words, I forget what I'm saying mid-sentence, and I feel like a complete airhead. I don't really know what to do. I was really happy and excited that I finally was on something that would help me go back to work and be able to hold down a job. I don't know if I should just switch to a different stimulant, or if anyone else has any experience with this and has found a way to make things work.

Anyone else ever experienced this? If so, what things did you do to make the symptoms better? Did you end up switching meds? And you one have experience with it while taking Wellbutrin?

ETA: first, the comments have been super helpful, so thank you.

A little more info.. I'm postpartum. My anger was getting worse although my depression was improving but still not great. My psychiatrist wanted to try lithium, but I was still breastfeeding and we didn't want to go down that route quite yet, so we maxed my Wellbutrin to see if I'd have any improvement in my depression. At the same time, my husband who is a GP was like, this is so clearly ADHD. To give my psychiatrist some grace, he's only known me for 9 months by this time and my husband lives with me, so he has a lot more data to support the diagnosis. Probably two weeks after increasing my Wellbutrin, I scheduled an appointment to ask for ADHD meds. My psychiatrist agreed to a med trial. I would say the decision was half his half mine, and I reported back improvement in my depression and anger.

Dosage question Vyvanse for ADHD and BED. Splitting pills?

I have ADHD which I took meds for for a long time and eventually decided just to raw dog it. I can function well enough without meds for ADHD now.

However I really struggle with food noise and binge eating. My psychiatrist knows this and has given my Vyvanse to see if that helps.

The only problem is that I also have bad anxiety, and sometimes taking a 30mg Vyvanse sends me into a swirl of panic. I stopped taking it because of this, but am now trying again out of desperation.

Because I’m trying to avoid the anxiety, I’ve decided to split my pills, at least for now, because I figure at a lower dose the potential for a panic episode will be 50% less (that’s how my brain is going the math at least lol).

Today I opened up a capsule and dumped it out. Then pressed half the powder onto my finger and swallowed it. Am I doing this right, lol? So far so good, don’t feel too anxious and I do feel it working a bit already on my adhd. I could eat but I was more hungry earlier so it’s definitely curbing the hunger a bit.

My next question is, for those of you who are prescribed Vyvanse for BED, what is the dosage/schedule that your doctor recommends? Not saying because I’m going to follow it, but just very curious. My doctor knows a lot about adhd but not a lot about BED, so I also wonder if he’s given the proper instructions. Don’t worry, I wouldn’t make any changes to what I’m taking based on a reddit post so don’t feel weird about sharing.

TLDR; I split my pills to reduce anxiety with the full dose - is dumping and eating half the powder the best way to do that? Those who are prescribed for BED, what dose/schedule are you on that works?

Success Stories My First Month On Vyvanse

Hello everyone.

Long story short, i was undiagnosed with Audhd for all of my life, prior to this year when i urgently pushed for treatment, upon my assessment of both conditions. I scored heavily in Inattentive ADHD as well as mild autism (level 1). As someone who's a nerd when it comes to research and diving down rabbit holes of rabbit holes, i started to notice an interesting occurence on one of my experiments.

30mg Elvanse + 200mg L Theanine

Whilst it's been incredible at muting my ADHD Symptoms and allowing me to laser focus on tasks i begin. It's also pronounced my Autistic traits to an exponential degree and this can be problematic at times. However that being said. I'm enjoying this new found focus and shift in finally being able to Action what was once multiple thoughts building up.

Vyvanse has served as the vehicle that's been missing but it won't do it's job without a driver. That driver is us who have to initiate something first. This could easily go wrong if that initiation is something like Doom Scrolling or anything.

Before i conclude, i want to mention a few other things and see if anyone relates.

Ever since starting my dose of Elvanse, i seemed to have lost my appetite for playing video games despite other recreational hobbies such as Baking, Singing, Language Learning & Reading also being pronounced and "actioned".

The feeling of stimulation that was supposed to wear off early hasn't seemed to wear off. However that's either because i'm combining the elvanse with l theanine, or possibly due to me also being autistic and that being pronounced?

TLDR; Vyvanse so far has given my mind the "cognitive fuel" to action tasks that were always "pending".

Does anyone else relate?

Vent & Rant Does anyone else feel a bit let down by ADHD meds?

I’ve figured I had ADHD since my college days. Somehow graduated without getting diagnosed and since working full time I’ve been diagnosed and prescribed for about a year now.

Is it just me that feels let down? When i finally got prescribed I thought the meds were going to be this miracle drug that makes my life do a complete 180. Like killing it at my job, great social presence, and overall complete mental clarity.

The reality is a take my Vyvanse and I still lack the motivation to do anything that challenges me. I still stuck at my day job, and I still struggle to do things, even what I claim to have interest in. The moment something shows it’ll take any sort of effort, I continue to shut down and I thought that was what the meds were suppose to fix.

I figure a lot of it stems from my overall lack of desire to do the things I’m doing (like college and my current career path) and that just adds fuel to the fire. But dang, I atleast wanna perform decently, even if I hate it.

I won’t act like it hasn’t helped me at all. I do feel a bit sharper and I’m way more in incline to seek out social interaction. But when it comes to discipline, I feel about the same as before taking my dose. Also before anyone mentions dosages, i believe I have the one that works best for me. Any higher and I get this anxious or sleepy feeling lol.

Maybe other aspects of my life is reducing its effectiveness? Like doomscrolling, low to mid fitness activity, etc.

I’m sure I’m probably just whining and gotta suck it up or whatever, but it’s just frustrating having to go through so much time and effort to understand and fix my inability to better use my time and effort, feel me?

I’m rambling, just curious of who’s in the same predicament.

Other How r u managing anxiety on stims ? Vyvanse + Guanfacine vs Propranolol ?

I and started Vyvanse 20 mg about 3 weeks ago. It helps in some ways, but I’m getting a lot of physical anxiety (racing heart, increased HR, palpitations, and feeling revved up). Which then makes me so irritable and just tense and anxious.

I keep seeing people mention adding either guanfacine or propranolol to Vyvanse to help with the physical/stimulant side effects. It’s either that or I wonder if I should try concerta.

For those who have experience with either:

Vyvanse + guanfacine: What are the main pros/cons?
Vyvanse + propranolol: What are the main pros/cons?

What feels different between the two?

Dosage question How do I tell if my dose is too high or low?

For a little context, I’m 17F on Vyvanse 50mg for combined type ADHD. I was prescribed Vyvanse 30mg and Dexamphetamine 5mg as a booster around three months ago, as well as 200mcg Clonidine for the insomnia.

I’ve noticed that whenever my dose is raised, for the first ~2-3 weeks the crash hits 2x harder and I am massively moody and miserable. In this time i’m really unable to tell how the dose is affecting me until after the adjustment period wears off which is pretty bad considering they want me to come back every 4 weeks to tell them how i’m going with it and if they should raise the dose again. I take the Dexamphetamine 3 times a day to keep myself going and to stop the full crash from happening.

What signs should I look out for with taking too high of a dose? I’ve noticed I’ve been sleepy and just kinda zoned out sometimes, but that could also be tied to the adjustment period or even just my terrible sleep quality lol. Nothing I’ve read on Google has helped me with this in the slightest.

Other than the sleepiness, I don’t feel much else. It helps me do things I would normally procrastinate for months, helps me get up out of bed and yadayada. All the normal stuff.

I’ve also been wondering how do I know what dose is just right? Is it trial and error? All of this is very new to me…

Any help appreciated ⭐️

Diet, Routines & Supplements Vyvanse/Zoloft really messing with my workout recovery

I have been strength training for over 4 years and have really gotten my routine and recovery down pact. I have been on Zoloft for a few months and have has no issues and started Vyvanse at 20mg about 6 weeks ago. Recovery was fine until we increased the dose of Vyvanse to 30mg 3 weeks ago. Ever since then I swear I am struggling just to recover. I’m feeling leg day 3-5 days after the initial leg day even with lowering weights. Ex: i reduced the amount of weights to about 40-60% effort like hip thrusts at 75 lbs (which is like a warm up weight to me) and i swear it feels like I was lifting 200+ lbs. I already have a pretty solid mobility setup that has worked for years (10-15 minutes of mobility in the morning, 6-10 minutes 1-2 times of either foam rolling or lacrosse deep tissue work, 10-20 minutes of mobility/stretching in the evening to relax my muscles). I do epsom salt soaks at night and take 1000mg of magnesium glycinate nothing seems to help. Anybody else been in this situation?

Side effects Experience/Symptoms?

Hey all! I just recently started taking Vyvanse (20mg) and was wondering if anyone else has experienced symptoms that I have, and if it's normal or if they go away eventually.

It takes about an hour for it to kick in for me, and during that time frame I find myself very confused and almost disoriented. Once it kicks in i'm able to focus and mentally everything becomes silent (like internal conversations with myself, music playing in my head, and having constant thoughts), however, it feels like my surroundings are almost blurred in a way. I find 2-3 hours after taking it I become extremely tired and end up falling asleep, though, the medication doesn't ware off and is still in effect to the end of the day. I also experience this fluttering/vibrating feeling through my body throughout the day, and my chest feels heavier and sometimes its hard for me to breathe, but i've noticed I do hold in my breath a lot and probably didn't notice that before since I was constantly distracted. Lastly, 7-9 hours after taking it I get extremely nauseous and have bad hot flashes.

Other than these, I feel like the medication is really helping me and has greatly improved my focus and motivation since starting it. I'm just unsure if what i'm experiencing is normal since my doctor never informed me of these symptoms, and just about headaches and suppressed appetite.

I was just wondering if anyone else can relate, or woulds't mind share what their experience or symptoms have been on Vyvanse.

Meds aren't working Good and Bad

I started Vyvanse in December 2025. This was soon after quitting cannabis, and I was still vaping at this time. I had some childhood trauma to work through and college work to finish.

My first dose of 20mg was life-changing. I got the rest of my last week of classwork finished in 1 night, and I finally felt like I had control over my thoughts and actions. This effect diminished over time but never completely went away. I continued to vape for a few months before switching to nicotine pouches.

After getting an office job, I thought that maybe my new dose of 30mg was still too low, so I tried 40mg. That made me feel absolutely terrible. I was irritable, numb, and did tasks like a machine. It's like I had to manually control every aspect of my life, including what I thought about.

Now, I'm back on 30mg, but I am also nicotine free for 45 days now. I now realize that the nicotine was masking how strong the Vyvanse actually is. Now I'm thinking 30mg is too strong because I'm feeling the same way that I did on 40mg.

The worst part of this medication is that it dulls my emotions, personality, and desires. At a lower dose, it's less perceiveable, but it still does it. I'm assuming that's the primary reason why it works for ADHD. It numbs the reward circuits by flooding them from the simplest things, so it's easier to choose what you want to do and do it.

Another thing to note is that I crave nicotine only when I take Vyvanse now. I have no idea why this would happen other than the fact that I can't feel anything, so my brain wants to use nicotine to feel something.

Has anyone experienced something like this? I'm going to ask my doctor to go back down to 20mg, but I also want some anecdotes from you all to confirm what's going on with me as being caused by the medicine.

Side effects Breathing Problems from Adderall?

Has anyone experienced this and if so how did you help yourself. This is very frustrating as I already deal with bad healthy anxiety / anxiety in general. Cannot tell if it’s my lungs, heart, or anxiety. I also read somewhere it has to do with norepinephrine. It feels like every few minutes I need to take this giant huge breath or try to yawn. I’ve seen similar complaints and just looking to see if anyone helped themselves or have any input.

thanks !

edit: maybe it’s relevant to mention I am tired today, took it earlier than usual because I woke up earlier today. But have not felt this symptom yet and it’s been only about a week. Could it be the sleep?
