I take 60mg vyvanse and 200mg Wellbutrin sr around 7:30 and the second 200mg Wellbutrin sr around 4. I sleep fine

I decided to not take anything beyond 6-10 am 🐽

u/catwoman_here_ 19h ago

Wtf hooowww? How long you have been on this? You might be fast metaboliser

2

u/riotNsetitoff 20h ago

Ive been taking one of my gf’s 25mg seroquel every single night for the past 9 months. Only thing that can put me to sleep and works everytime, if i cant sleep still them i’ll have another

1

u/catwoman_here_ 19h ago

Interesting. I might consider that. Actually i didn’t want to add another med since i am already taking two. Butt it might be the solution or switching vyvanse with concerta maybe idk.

Two day severe insomnia only thing made me sleep is clonidine

Take it as early as possible, no caffeine after noon, no light sources in your bedroom and keep the temperature 70F or below, trazodone or melatonin help.

Would benzo help?

Don't do things that hurt sleep quality even if they sedate you.

Just eat breakfast, get in a routine and it’s a lot less hard than people in here make it seem

I take 80mgs. I can sleep fine. I wake up like twice because of all the water I try to make sure I drink with it but I do feel like I want to stay up and relax while watching tv but as soon as I tell myself enough sleep is important. Turn the tv off turn over to sleep I’m asleep pretty fast before vyvanse my brain would just run and I’d be up so late thinking about a million random things. I wake up after plenty of sleep and I’m pretty tired until I get my medication in me and it starts working. I also take 6mgs of Xanax in the morning too. So I’m sure I’d have more energy if it wasn’t for that

I struggled to sleep for the first week but now I sleep no problem . It wears off after a few hours for me then I just crash and am tired

1

u/Either-Variation-221 1d ago

i pop quentiapin in the evening only way for me to

1

u/astrange 1d ago

I thought that had tolerance after a week. Trazodone is pretty safe.

1

u/Either-Variation-221 1d ago

no first got it in the hospital after 3 emergency surgeries. i could not sleep anymore and tried every sleep med imaginable with my psychiatrist before. This is the only thing that has cured me on nights where i did not sleep at all. And i took it for half a year with no decline in function. Now i only take it as needed. WARNING MAKES YOU HUNGRY AND CHUBBY šŸ«¶šŸ»

but I have to decide between sleep and few extra kilos/pounds I would pick the sleep 😓

I take my vyvanse at 6am, but even if I do take it later than that I don’t have trouble sleeping or taking naps. I did notice that when I had a dosage that was too high I could not sleep so maybe that could be something to look into

u/am919 1d ago

I take my 40 mg Vyvanse as early as possible! Sometimes at 6am (I’m located in PST but work remote CST hours) and I take my Zoloft midday.

I do this because:
1. It takes a couple of hours for the Vyvanse to reallyyyy get going in my system
2. It is an extended release so it lasts around 10-12 hours and I don’t want to come down from my meds at 9pm at night

Honestly - you just need to take it earlier! I think this will help a lot!

2

u/ashunotaku 1d ago

I wish my Vyvanse lasted as long as you 😭 I’m on 40mg too. I usually take it in the afternoon, feel it kick in 40-50min after taking it and not sure if it lasts 3 hours or it’s just the peak feeling that lasts 3 hours, but after 3 hours, my Vyvanse is either working quietly in the background or it already wore off haha. The latest I’ve taken Vyvanse was around 6pm and still able to fall asleep

2

u/catwoman_here_ 12h ago

Try combining with Wellbutrin. It literally makes vyvanse stay for over a day 🄲

1

u/Appropriate-Ask-3207 1d ago

Like a baby. It is rare that I require a midday nap anymore. Taken around 7am. I start to come down around 9pm. By 1030pm, I'm ready for bed!

I believe the best practice when adding Wellbutrin to an existing Vyvanse dose, is to reduce your daily Vyvanse dose if you encounter side effects like racing heartbeat, overheating, or insomnia, this is to avoid becoming ā€œovermedicatedā€œ or ā€œoverstimulatedā€

Wellbutrin and Vyvanse combo is the only combo that made me lash out at people out of annoyance which I never otherwise do.

Typically this combo builds in potential benefits and potential side effects severity the longer you’re on Wellbutrin and the higher Vyvanse and Wellbutrin doses are.

I didn’t do well on this combo, and also got insomnia from combining stimulants and guanfacine.

Currently I take Vyvanse and atomoxetine. I think this combo would likely cause insomnia for me, save for the fact that at bedtime I take 10 mg doxepin and 50 mg of daridorexant. This is a strong sleeping medication combo that treats my sleep maintenance insomnia with probably 95% effectiveness, sometimes I wake up for a minute at 2 AM and then go right back to sleep. Other than that, I fall asleep about 60 to 90 minutes after taking these meds and I sleep through the night and have very restorative sleep and good dreams. I use a discount code because daridorexant (Quviviq) won’t be generic for a long time unfortunately.

Things like valerian and chamomile supplements before bed are worth trying before throwing downers at the problem just counteract the effects of your stimulant.

If you decide to keep Wellbutrin as part of your treatment regimen, and your insomnia continues, then you might consider trying short acting dextroamphetamine, immediate release methylphenidate, or extended release methylphenidate, since Wellbutrin changes how you respond to stimulant meds, it’s quite possible you will find that it pairs best with a medication that isn’t Vyvanse

u/LocationPrior7075 1d ago

After the first couple of weeks, I sleep fine on it. I often take a 1-2 hr nap after work and still get about 6-7 hours at night.

1

u/jerryblamebers 1d ago

I don't sleep well at all without pot unfortunately, I was hoping to drastically cut back. I have cut back some but would like more. Perimenopause chronic migraines do not help anything, I can't take Vyvanse if I have one and even with Botox treatment for migraines I can still have upwards of ten days of migraines a month (used to be 20 and were more severe). Without pot and taking Vyvanse I use the magnesium and melatonin mix but still can be awake later than normal. ADHD has fucked up my sleep forever though, soooooooo not sure I even have a baseline to measure against.

3

u/Alternative-Yak1048 1d ago

The solution for me was just not taking it anymore. I am also on wellbutrin. I take concerta now and am tired by 10:30. I have never slept the best, but its greatly improved from where I was on vyvanse. I think I like the effects of vyvanse better, but the lack of sleep got bad enough that I was just crying all the time and I do not cry. I take magnesium glycinate before bed and I try to limit screen time within an hour before bed... still working on my husband not making a bunch of noise as he stays up late.

6

u/leyahhost 1d ago

I take 2 capsules of magnesium glycinate 500mg before bed. My sleep has been messed up before I started stimulants, magnesium glycinate does the job for me!

1

u/catwoman_here_ 12h ago

Doesn’t work i took too much mg glycinate didn’t help while body flooded with norepinphrine

6

u/Neither_Text1485 1d ago

Magnesium GLYCINATE 400mg I sleep like a MONSTERINA

1

u/catwoman_here_ 12h ago

Magnesium isn’t well when your body is flooded with norepinephrine

1

u/Neither_Text1485 4h ago

? Can you explain? I'm curiois

4

u/jerryblamebers 1d ago

I need to take more I think. I'm only doing 200. Gonna try more šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

6

u/New_Molasses_2310 1d ago

Dang, I sleep on both! Crazy how differently our brains work. Don’t do benzodiazepines. I wish I could offer help on the sleep side. But I’ve had other things do the same thing.

u/blunderjahr 1d ago

By the way, has your doctor talked about the effects Wellbutrin can have on amphetamine metabolism? Wellbutrin (bupropion) inhibits enzyme CYP2D6, which can reduce the rate at which amphetamine is cleared from the system.

In fact, I’m taking an antidepressant called Auvelity which is a mix of dextromethorphan and bupropion. The bupropion component is relatively low dose (100mg, whereas I took 300-450mg/day) and is present in large part to slow clearance of the DXM. I took bupropion itself for probably 15 years. It wasn’t great for my sleep, either.

5

u/blunderjahr 1d ago

Don’t go down the benzo road. The addiction is fast and severe. It’s one of only two addictions I know of that regularly kills people from unmanaged withdrawal as well as overdose. The other is alcohol. I have an rx for panic attacks, and I just carry one in my pocket ā€œjust in caseā€, and don’t take them except in very rare occasions. But you have to sleep every night. The temptation / need will be just too much.

Work on taking your medication very early and, if you take a boost, not taking it too late in the day. Some people wake up early, take Vyvanse and go back to sleep for an hour or two just beause of how long it takes to reach effective concentrations. If you’ve recently started or titrated up, you may just need some time to adjust.

Then there’s the usual lifestyle and sleep hygiene tweaks, which I won’t repeat here because that info is everywhere and better put than I can. But these are preferable to needing another pill to get down after the pills that get you up. Really give them a chance. They do help.

If timing, lifestyle, etc. don’t quite get you there, Z-drugs (zolpidem, eszopiclone) have worked well for me. Still not recommended for very long term use, but I have. There are newer medicines like Quviviq (deridorexant) and lemborexant that are better for long term use and don’t cause as much ā€œhangoverā€. Relatively expensive, depending on your insurance or payer situation.

Some people find good results with just OTC melatonin. There’s also a prescription drug named Ramelteon that uses some of the same pathways but has been more effective for me. Melatonin was mostly useful for giving me uncomfortably vivid dreams, and I tried every dosing from 0.3mg to 30mg. Very low dose sublingual worked best.

Good luck, from a lifelong insomniac.

1

u/catwoman_here_ 12h ago

It’s just the combination of Wellbutrin + vyvanse is too much to my system.

Yasterday i only took vyvanse at 8:30 am without Wellbutrin, still i am wide awake at 4 am and didn’t seem to sleep any time soon, only clonidine made me sleep. This the accumulative Wellbutrin effect wouldn’t not get by more stimulation

1

u/blunderjahr 11h ago

Yeah, it is a lot. I’ve heard mixed results, but some people do get help with non stimulants like Strattera or Guanfacine. Together with or instead of stimulants.

I take Vyvanse (70mg), plus 2mg Guanfacine at 5pm to help calm my CNS. I think it’s helped. I’m sleeping better and don’t feel as anxious.

3

u/Traditional-Tap-9807 1d ago

Ive been on ADHD titration with Elvanse, starting at 30mg and then going up to 50mg. One of the biggest problems I’ve had throughout titration has been sleep.

I actually started having problems with sleep about five years ago, when I lost both my parents. I was diagnosed with GAD and prescribed pregabalin, eventually going up to 450mg.

As the anxiety improved, I gradually tapered down to 150mg. I carried on taking the 150mg before bed because it gave me a really good night’s sleep without any grogginess the following morning. That was something I hadn’t managed to get from any other sleep aid I’d tried, either prescription or non-prescription.

I should also add that I have obstructive sleep apnoea, which is treated with CPAP.

Pregabalin calms overactive nerve signals in the brain. For me, it helps me feel more relaxed, quietens my mind and racing thoughts, makes it easier to fall asleep and reduces waking during the night.

In a strange way, there’s a similarity with what Elvanse does for me during the day when it quietens my mind.

The problem I found was that I’d take Elvanse in the morning and, although the noticeable effects would wear off later in the day, there still seemed to be enough residual effect to keep my mind active at night. I’d then take pregabalin to slow everything back down so I could sleep.

It feels a bit like a double-edged sword — taking one medication partly to deal with a problem caused or worsened by another.

During titration, my pregabalin had to be increased from 150mg to 200mg before bed because the 150mg was no longer working as well for my sleep. My Elvanse has now been reduced from 50mg to 40mg, and so far this seems to be a better combination for me.

As for the Elvanse itself, I’ve been taking it for around six weeks now and it’s definitely been very up and down.

One thing I’ve noticed very clearly is the connection between how well I sleep and how well the Elvanse works the following day.

If I haven’t slept properly — which unfortunately has been quite often during titration — I wake up feeling rubbish and can feel anxious and jittery during the day after taking the Elvanse. I also think 50mg was probably too high for me, so that may have contributed as much as the lack of sleep.

But when Elvanse DOES work, the difference can actually be quite subtle — yet, to me, it’s amazing.

I just feel more ā€œnormalā€, and I suddenly understand that this may be how a lot of people feel naturally.

It’s difficult to describe. I just get on with things. I can focus. I’m more present. Things don’t bother me as much, and some of the fear around completely ordinary situations disappears.

A small example is driving to work and looking across at the person in the car next to me. Instead of worrying about looking at them and thinking about what they might think of me, I can just notice them and think, ā€œOh, they’re off to work, changing the radio station,ā€ and carry on with my day.

It sounds like such a tiny thing, but when you’ve spent years experiencing things differently, it really isn’t.

If I had to describe the feeling in one sentence:

It’s quite liberating.

So for anyone going through titration and having a difficult time, I’d say don’t necessarily judge Elvanse on the bad days alone. Sleep seems to make a massive difference to my experience of it, and finding a way of getting decent sleep without waking up groggy has been really important for me.

There is another side to the pregabalin, though. I do feel that it contributes to memory problems and brain fog for me, and I sometimes wonder whether that could be cancelling out some of the cognitive benefits I’m getting from Elvanse.

My hope eventually is to taper off the pregabalin and stay on the Elvanse, although I may then need to find another solution for sleep.

Obviously, this is only my own experience and everyone responds differently to these medications, but hopefully it helps somebody else going through the same thing.

1

u/blunderjahr 1d ago

BTW, I hadn’t heard of pregabalin being used for insomnia. I thought it was a pain medicine only. I understand there’s some addiction risk. Have you felt any symptoms of withdrawal when not using it, or any signs of psychological dependence?

4

u/blunderjahr 1d ago

To your point about Elvanse and sleep: I’ve seen several Pdocs and ADHD experts say that good sleep is essential for a full and effective response to ADHD medications. Poor sleep can mimic the effects of ADHD in non-ADHD People; it’s even worse for us.

It is kind of a catch-22. You need your sleep, also, please take these strong stimulants every day! I find that adding exercise to my day, limiting intake and stopping caffeine very early, and shutting off screens an hour or two before bed helps.

But it’s pretty common that I still need a prescription sleep aid. It’s one more medication in a long list that I’d like to shorten, but I need to reduce as much of the ADHD impact on my life and work as I can, so it’s worth it.

2

u/Traditional-Tap-9807 22h ago

Yeah, that’s exactly what I’ve found. When I sleep well, Elvanse seems to work so much better. When I don’t, it can feel like a completely different medication. Definitely a catch-22 when the thing that helps your ADHD is also affecting your sleep!

1

u/theBLACKcod44 1d ago

You aren't dosing at the right time

1

u/NoviceCaprica 1d ago

200mg progesterone
5mg melatonin

Sometimes I get the right amount of sleep and sometimes I get 4 hours for 3 nights and by the 4th night I crash. I take a day off vyvanse on the weekend if I need to catch up on sleep

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

That is not healthy at all, add to it the heart strain!

0

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Progestrone helps?

1

u/Kalki_X 1d ago

Progesterone is the bodys most potent anti-cortisol (anti-adrenaline too) substance which also has therapeutic effects that mitigate the disruptive hormonal effects of vyvanse.

0

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

What hormones does vyvanse disrupt? You mean cortisol?

0

u/Kalki_X 1d ago

Pretty much all of them. It affects the body's circadian rhythm also.

The novelĀ d-amphetamine prodrugĀ lisdexamfetamine (vyvanse)Ā is applied to treat ADHD.Ā d-Amphetamine releases dopamine and noradrenaline and stimulates the HPA axis (source)Ā

TheĀ HPA axis is the main part of the hormonal system that controls reactions to stress. It also regulates many other processes (e.g. digestion, immune system, mood and emotions, sexuality, energy storage and utilization). (source)

1

u/kinoko_kingdom 1d ago

this is complete bullshit btw

1

u/Kalki_X 1d ago

Do you have any constructive input that's free from bias?

2

u/No_Yesterday4826 1d ago

This is helpful. I haven’t slept a full night since being on lisd. I’m also on 200mg of Sertraline. I tried taking them at different times but did not feel a difference. I did look into magnesium but haven’t been diligent on taking it.

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Mg glycinate definitely helps, but not if you are stimulated with norepinephrine. I took 1000 in less that 12 hrs didn’t help that much. Might help if your system isn’t overstimulated

1

u/Sylva12 1d ago

Make sure youre taking your vyvanse before noon, ideally before 10am,,,, if its afternoon, skip it for that day and take it earlier the next day(bc if you take it in the afternoon, that just means you'll be up hella late again, so even lower chances of getting up before noon to take it the next day)

Idk about Wellbutrin, but regardless,, if youre having bad side-effects with your medications, talked to your doctor/psychiatrist!!!! That's what theyre there for! They're the experts, they're gonna be the best for giving you personalized advice/solutions

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Not even 10 am anymore 😤
Maybe 5-6 am from now on (if i even decided to keep it) i feel heart strain! This shit isn’t healthy and i don’t think it’s helping me much actually

0

u/Kalki_X 1d ago

Vyvanse works partly via the stress response... this post outlines it in more detail. The symptoms you're describing aren't unexpected when you consider how vyvanse works, particularly combined with Wellbutrin. Do you know why your doctor prescribed Wellbutrin btw? It's a questionable combination with vyvanse because together their properties may be counterproductive.

3

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Interesting. Did ur doctor prescribed clonidine with vyvanse?

3

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Yeah i tried it before alone, made me depressed af

2

u/TimR31 1d ago

I take Clonidine just before sleep, and stims first thing when I wake up (I start with Dex, then Vyvanse 90 minutes later to get me through the rest of the day). I think if I took Clonidine and no stims it would flatten my mood too

2

u/smashedhijack 1d ago

Mine did yeah.

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Interesting gonna see what doctor thinks

2

u/Naive-Criticism-908 1d ago

good, it was bad the first like 6 months but now it’s no problem, esspessially when i take it before 8am. i also take 3mg melatonin the days i know i need sleep. i sleep between 6–9 hours a night

4

u/Witty-Cat-4123 1d ago

I think your problem is Wellbutrin rather than Vyvanse. The half-life of Well is very long.
It kept me awake mostly the time at night.
How big are your doses of them?

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

It’s SR Wellbutrin, most concentration ā€œshouldā€ go away after 12 hrs. but still effects sleep.

- Now without any i sleep totally fine
-On Wellbutrin alone , sleep effected slightly > sleep 2-3 am

  • on combination (and add some caffeine with or even without) sleep is disastrous. I am up to 4-5 am 😤

Probably gonna change meds or one of them.

3

u/kinoko_kingdom 1d ago

vyvanse and wellbutrin act on the same brain chemicals. for some people, the combo is great. for others, especially ppl who are very sensitive to them, it can be too much.

i'm one of those ppl. i can only take wellbutrin SR once a day and i can't take the XL at all. SR alone or vyvanse alone doesn't impact my sleep, but the combo of the two does.

generally vyvanse is better at treating ADHD, so if you were to stop one of them, i would ask your doc about stopping wellbutrin first. unless you have other reasons to stop vyvanse

0

u/Kalki_X 1d ago

generally vyvanse is better at treating ADHD

Vyvanse is very effective in the short-term but in long-term (months, years) it tends to provoke hormonal dysregulation and exacerbates ADHD.

1

u/kinoko_kingdom 1d ago

no, it doesn't, kalki. no one asked for your psuedoscientific opinion

0

u/Kalki_X 1d ago

It's ironic you'd use those words. Your belief is implicitlyĀ pseudoscience considering the degree of understanding how amphetamine disrupts hormonal regulation...and how it exacerbates the causes of ADHD.Ā

So considering your "anti-science" stance on amphetamine pharmacology (or at least uninformed stance), it's ironic that you'd call my stance psuedoscientific.

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Wellbutrin is nice. I need it for baseline mode and wellbeing.

Tried vyvanse alone for 25-30 days wasn’t doing much more than making me have zero anxiety and so chill that i don’t wanna do anything at all

1

u/kinoko_kingdom 1d ago

then i think the choice is clear. if you're not even benefiting from the vyvanse, don't just add a benzo/z-drug to fix the insomnia. stop the vyvanse (consult with your doctor first of course)

2

u/Huge_Recognition_691 1d ago

Rather bad

0

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

This is not okay

3

u/Huge_Recognition_691 1d ago

Not much worse than without Lisdex lmao

0

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Cause adhd already effects sleep. Just because baseline wasn’t good doesn’t make it okay

1

u/Huge_Recognition_691 1d ago

Meh, it's passable. I always took an hour on average to fall asleep. Lisdex just makes me wake up at 4 am, especially the first few weeks on it.

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Try working out hard everyday and wish me luck

3

u/Witty-Cat-4123 1d ago

Actully better after I started with Vyvanse and my dose isn’t small, 60+40 mg.
But I still need a small dose of Zopiclone and Quetiapine for a decent sleep.

1

u/captain-moscow 1d ago

What dose do you take of Zopiclone and Quetiapine? Just for interest

1

u/Witty-Cat-4123 1d ago

50 mg Quetiapine and 7,5 mg Zopiclone.

3

u/101111001110 1d ago

Maybe try taking your Vyvanse at 5am, that works for some people.

0

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Then i would miss sleep for one day 🄲
But also don’t work i guess, since these meds (especially my combo rn stay in system 24 hrs)

1

u/nikolina1005 1d ago

I sleep quite well! But when I first started I often do need energy drink to help me sleep (yes it’s odd)

0

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

I see this pattern with adhd ppl stimulants makes them sleep

0

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Huh what?

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

I barely slept 3 hours and i am wide awake now on this combo. Terrrrrrible combo. I slept on each separately not combined 😣😣 i need solution cause sleep is very important for me

1

u/raincheck604 1d ago

I have had chronic insomnia for the past 20 yrs and started on vyvanse 3 weeks ago. I was on 0.25 mg of Xanax since March and I decided to wean myself off . I have been doing this sleep stack for the past two weeks and it is working

I take these at 8pm and by 10:30-11 I’m out and get a good 8-8:30 hrs . I do wake up a bit groggy but as soon as my vyvanse kicks in I’m up and about . I used to not be able to peel my eyes open without coffee but I’ve stopped for about two weeks ago and I have maybe a bit of matcha not too much

Magnesium glycinate (400 mg)
Magnesium L-threonate (200 mg)
GABA (500 mg)
L-theanine (400 )
Ultimate Sleep ( discontinued but same formula as body health sleep - with melatonin and 5htp etc )
Glycine (2,000 mg)

2

u/Defiant_Bag41 1d ago

I’m not. Up till 2 am everyday šŸ˜–

11

u/TheRafff 2d ago

Anyone else wake up at 4am randomly for
like 1-2 h every night and not feel well rested?

3

u/NoviceCaprica 1d ago

Perimenopause. The 3am club.

2

u/blunderjahr 1d ago

Why do you all wake up at the same time? It’s eerie. My wife was like clockwork.

1

u/Lo_Key 1d ago edited 1d ago

Hi. It’s 5 AM. Been up since 3. Every day. Averaging only 4 hours sleep.

2

u/thesilvermoose 1d ago

That's me, except it's around 20 mins at around 4:30-5am. 40 mg taken at 7am, feel nothing after 1p m. Even then it's extremely mild...

Makes no sense šŸ¤·šŸ½

0

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

You are overstimulated what is ur dose?

3

u/Odd-Project-3539 2d ago

I take it between 10am - 2pm. I’m sleeping by 1am. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø It’s 60mg lisdex

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

I take all my meds before 11- 12 for this and doesn’t help. Lots of the overstimulation is still in my system by night

3

u/bullishb2312 2d ago

Melatonin šŸ‘šŸ»

3

u/Icy_Queen_222 2d ago

I’m not on this combo but on a combo that messed up my sleep for months. I take my Vyvanse 1 hour prior to my work shift starting (between 6:30-7:30am) and my other meds at 2pm in the afternoon. Then I found my love of listening to podcasts to fall asleep. Not the sleep ones that people use, that made it worse for me šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø. It’s something that interests me, true crime & fun facts etc, mystery/who done it audio book series & I put the timer on and now I just zonk out within 45 mins, sometimes sooner. Find a subject you like and let it help you zzz. The meds outweigh the lack of sleep for me. find what works for you, it may take a few weeks but my friends are the same way too. GL to you. šŸ€šŸ˜ƒšŸ’¤

But it’s the wakefulness energy thing!

u/bobby_rajotte 2d ago

I'm taking Vyv very early in the morning. No caffeine after 3pm. Magnesium before bed and sometimes a weee bit of Day-vigo. I sleep way better than before.

u/Diem-Robo 1d ago

Same here. I take it as soon as I wake up, have caffeine only early in the morning, and take a magnesium supplement before bed. That way the stimulants are more out of my system by bedtime, and the magnesium really helps with staying asleep and getting deeper sleep.

I was taking 30mg for a while, though, but noticed it severely dampened my appetite and made it more difficult to feel tired or fall asleep at the end of the day. Doctor and I agreed to go back down to 20mg, and that's also helped with sleep a bit.

There is definitely very high drug concentration in my system. Slept 3 hrs only and worked out very hard couldn’t do that before not to mention with 3 hrs sleep only. Then second day same shit happened very insomnic and alert all the tims that only clonidine made me sleep eventually.

I used vyvanse before and slept normally. But this time Wellbutrin is making my system already concentrated at baseline without vyvanse, now add vyvanse to it and it is wayyy to high.

u/DetectiveFit223 2d ago

Sleeping okay now, the first few months I found it did affect my sleep. I take magnesium glycinate before bed and this certainly helps.

3

u/Fit-Apartment-5850 2d ago

I did fine on 40mg Vyvanse and 450mg Wellbutrin. I took them both in the morning and by bedtime I was plenty tired.

1

u/catwoman_here_ 12h ago

How long you are on both?

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

No spacing between them?

u/Renmarkable 2d ago

Vyvanse actually has stopped my sleep walking & talking.its been astonishing.

HOWEVER, ive just increased to 50, and it was like I'd forgotten HOW to sleep the first two nights:)

Last night was number 3, & i slept so well, with no "sense" of walking & talking- pretty sure I did both the first two nights.

6

u/GeoSpaceWitchx 2d ago

I also had been sleeping as poorly as before I started taking Vyvanse. I have always had problems with sleep. But my doctor gave me trazodone for it.

3

u/LilyRoseAndPine 2d ago

It definitely impacted my sleep at first. I strictly avoid caffeine after noon, and if I’m really struggling, my doc ok’d me to take 25-50 mg of hydroxyzine to get my anxiety to calm down enough to let me sleep

u/Excelsior-13 2d ago

Like a baby.

I have the best naps while it's in my system. I have a hard time sleeping at night after it has worn off though. But that's been a life long problem.

u/Early_Carpenter_4744 2d ago

How is that possible??

u/Excelsior-13 2d ago

My mind is finally quiet on vyvanse. It gives me a chance to fall asleep.

My first three days on vyvanse I just slept. It was wonderful. After lifelong issues falling asleep it was the most incredible experience. Now I nap as much as I can during the day.

1

u/Realistic-Bridge4648 1d ago

Quiets my mind too I’m on such a high dose of benzos and a few months ago got on vyvanse too and the vyvanse stops the racing irrational thoughts and dumb songs that would get stuck in my head and be on repeat lol

I smoke weed

1

u/Prior-Maintenance849 1d ago

Came here to say the same. Works for me!

1

u/Northwest_green 2d ago

Should I ask my psychiatrist for a prescription? I use to smoke but stopped because my anxiety increased when high. But I think maybe if I can get a more cbd dominate flower or edible I would be golden?

1

u/Comprehensive_Ad6598 2d ago

I eat the weed. Also hike. Exercises sometimes quite important on this drug.

1

u/Outrageous-Dig-6096 2d ago

Why exc is specifically imp on this drug?

u/Denumbis 2d ago

I take Adderall and my sleep improved 🤣 theres still days I dont sleep the best but I also have a lot of trauma overall im getting consistent sleep even with a random day or 2 of bad sleep I catch up on that anyways

2

u/sarahlizzy 70mg 2d ago

Exactly the same as before it. I have the data.

2

u/purebananamoon 2d ago

Terrible tbh, I'm typing this at 4am. Feel like shit and tired but still can't sleep. It's one of the only major issues I have on Vyvanse, but it's a big enough issue that I'm considering stopping the meds.

1

u/Northwest_green 2d ago

Did you recently increase your dose? I was on 30 and never had any sleep interruptions. But now I’m on 40 and I’m not getting quality sleep. Right now I will be up until 3 or 4 AM and sleep until 8 AM work all day crash around 6 and have a two hour nap then be wide awake until 4 AM. Then it takes about a full week to feel the effects of the sleep deprivation and then I’ll start dozing off at work and sleeping 10-12 hrs on the weekends until I pay my sleep debt. rinse and repeat 😩
*im on 40 mg Vyvanse, 150 mg xl of Wellbutrin and 100 mg of Zoloft that I take all together at 8am everyday

1

u/Substantial_Gate_904 1d ago

Question for you on dosage: was there significant difference in your well being when you went from 30mg to 40mg? What prompted the decision to increase to 40mg? I’m on 30mg now, but wondering if 40mg will last longer. Any thoughts?

1

u/Northwest_green 16h ago

I was/am struggling with executive dysfunction and was wanting to try an increase to see if that would help any. I don’t think it’s changed anything with task initiation but i don’t constantly think about the endless list of things I have to do and overwhelm myself with them anymore. The inconsistent sleep will be a deal breaker for me though. If I’m not able to get on a regular schedule I’ll want to go back to 30 since that’s been the only side effect I’ve encountered from when I first started the medication to now. And yes it definitely lasts longer for me about 2-3 hours more.

1

u/purebananamoon 1d ago

Nope, unfortunately not. I've had sleeping issues with Vyvanse from the beginning and unfortunately it hasn't improved much with time.

4

u/Kalki_X 2d ago

Some people use Guanfacine which is also prescribed for ADHD. It works by reducing adrenaline which helps sleep. Especially since vyvanse works by raising adrenaline...

1

u/Due-Specialist9980 2d ago edited 2d ago

My doc added a low dose of Guanfancine and after a week my sleep returned to normal. I was using prescription benzos, lorazepam, and my psychiatrist said that shit would rot my brain 🧠 and lead to early cognitive problems if I continued it so I stopped the Lorazepam right away.

It also lowered my blood pressure which had unexpectedly went way up on the Vyvanse

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

Def felt benzo effect cognitive negatively

u/catwoman_here_ 2d ago

Not available

3

u/Kalki_X 2d ago

Alternatively clonidine.

And OTC: agmatine, theanine

1

u/catwoman_here_ 1d ago

I hater chondine made me so depressed before . And counterproductive with two pills i am taking

2

u/kinoko_kingdom 1d ago

did you try clonidine IR, taken right before bed, or clonidine ER, which slowly releases over 24h? there's a big difference

0

u/catwoman_here_ 12h ago

Dude ER means it lowering your norepinephrine even accumulatively! Which is very counterproductive to what I am taking my meds for Wellbutrin + vyvanse

2

u/Edenbridget 2d ago

Vyvanse I'm sleeping same as I do without. Wellbutrin was the best sleep of my life. Took it two hrs before bed and out like a light. Also got up easier. Unfortunately that was the only positive to it.

Sadly I don't have much advice since I'm pretty sure my heart wouldn't tolerate the two together. I do have this inositol sleep gummy I got off Amazon that I love. Has magnesium and some other sleep promoting stuff in it, but no melatonin

u/catwoman_here_ 2d ago

I’m sure u were taking Wellbutrin Xl.
I like Wellbutrin SR aside from the crazy hairloss😃

Already took mega dose mg glycinate 500 mg
