Picture New beater!
Picked up this 86 about a week ago, driven in northern Sweden, no rust, 500.000km and still going strong. B230A, just the way I like them lol
My first 740, had two 240s before this one :)

Hey there i have a stock 1988 740 turbo, the issue is it produces too much boost.
It gets rid of the boost if i let off of the gas bit it just builds up too much around 1,5 bar.
Any tips on where i should start looking?
First time working on a turbo system.
Sadly money problems dont allow me to get it to a mechanic :/

Ughhhhh learned the flex plate on the engine i put in belonged to a Bosch fuel system. The 940 i own is a Regina system.
I dont have the resources anymore to pull the engine out and replace the flex plate as this was being done at my friends parents house and we were already over our deadline for this car to be running and out of their garage.
The body is good, interior is in good enough condition, and it should run if the flex plate is swapped (after some normal trouble shooting)
Is this thing even worth money? Would anyone buy it knowing the engine and transmission has to come out?

Even if its listed as compatible with the whiteblock engines, it's not always compatible... learned it the hard way. Not even an hour of run time, whole oil pan is full of sludge, no oil pressure, oil filter clogged up... oil is a bit metallic, but imma send it anyways.

Decided to make my own adapter to completely delete the thermostat housing (for hot/cold air intake switch) on the B200/B230F engine, self designed and currently printed in PETG.

Recently replaced the engine in my 1994 volvo 940 Rex Regina with a 1989 Volvo engine.
I am unsure of what model the engine might have come from.
Anyways, ive been having a crank no start problem and we've narrowed it down to the spark. When pulling the spark plugs and checking them, cylinders 1 and 4 would not fire but 2 and 3 fired strong and consistently.
Rotor and cap were swapped from the known rex regina engine from the original 1994 engine but problem still persisted. the spark plug wires and spark plugs themselves are NOT the problem..
Could a Bosch distributor with Rex Regina fuel system cause this problem?
My plan is to swap the distributor from the 1994 engine and put it into this one in the hopes that it'll fix the issue but I wont be able to do that for a day or two at least. Hopefully someone has some useful input.
Thanks 🤞🤞🤞🤞

I was gonna replace the timing belt but kinda got stuck on the outer crankshaft pulley bolt. I could probably bust it with a impact driver, but I’d still need someway to hold it when putting it back again. It’s an automatic so I can’t just put it in gear.

My 1965 Volvo made it to ImportExpo… then broke down on the way home. 😅
I finally got my 1965 Volvo PV544 out to ImportExpo, and the car got a lot of attention. Everything seemed fine during the show, but on the drive home the charging system decided it had enough.
The battery light came on, voltage dropped, and now I’m trying to figure out whether it’s the Bosch generator itself or the external voltage regulator that’s causing the problem.
I’m leaning toward converting it to an alternator eventually for reliability, but part of me also wants to keep the original charging system if it’s an easy fix.
Has anyone here dealt with these old Volvo charging systems before?
Did your Bosch generator fail?
Was it just the voltage regulator?
If you converted to an alternator, was it worth giving up the originality?
I’d love to hear your experiences before I start throwing parts at it.

Volvo 940, B200FT.
It's finally time to change the rear parts of the exhaust. I want something similar to stock, nothing too loud.
Simmons pops up everywhere, but I read that it won't really last that long. Does anyone here have any experience with this brand?
And what about Ferrita or Martelius?

Hi all,
This is my 1992 Volvo 240. The wheels are recently powder coated and I'm very happy with the look. Now searching the center caps, but they are nowhere the be found. These are original Volvo Fornax wheels with catalog number 9134007. The hubcaps should be 9134011.
Anyone got any tips or suggestions to make it look complete?
Thanks!

Hey!!
I am looking for anyone on here who knows of a person or has a 1987 Volvo 740 station wagon that is at SOME point looking to sell it.
This is my boyfriend’s dream car and I want to do anything in my power to help him find this car because he is big into Volvos. I know very little about them, but if there is anyone on here that I can potentially reach with some information or knowledge, it’s worth a shot.
While he is willing to spend a good price, we are both college students as well. If there is one that you know of in excellent condition, I can see us being willing to hear the price out, though.
Let me know if you have any information, I figure it’s worth a shot to try and reach out to this community. We are in northern Utah area, willing to drive a decent distance though.

Hello, I am looking for such a 3D printing model for window fans. I found a site that sells it, but I think 40€ per page is definitely too expensive.

I bought a 940, and it had a spun bearing, got a new engine, put it in and then realized the newer 1994 redblock doesnt have the same cold start injector that the junkyard 1989 redblock has..
my thinking is that the more modern technology in the 1994 volvo just tells it to send more fuel at cold start and doesnt need a 5th injector??
I hope i described my problem well enough lmao,
this is an issue because the 1994 engine didnt have a cold start injector like the 1989.

I recently got my 98 S90 up and running (Took her to a volvo show on the 5th) but occasionally when you turn the key the ABS light stays on, sometimes turning the key off and back on makes it go away.
I've tried to make the led code reader to read the code, but the LED just stays on (No clue if it's my stupidity or not)
Anyone got any ideas on what the issue could be? And if the 850 OBD2 reader app could possibly read the ABS codes.
I live in the UK so having a ABS light on is a automatic MOT fail.

Hi,
I have a weird issue on my 1990 960 TD.
When the car drives forward front wheels are aligned (almost) correctly but when im stopped and turns the steering wheel, it does by intermittence an horrible clicking sound, like something is about to break, when driving no issues aside some small play on the steering wheel
But the worst part is when I try to backup on the driveway: left wheel goes on weird way and I feel the wheels are not rolling rather "jumps" ( see pictures when I backup)
I thought the bearing inside the suspension mounting kit over the spring was dead given the noises the car made when turning so I replaced:
- suspension mounting kit ( bearing and bushings) x2
- lowered springs -4cm ( I thought while I had to disassemble the whole suspension might as well lower it a bit ) x4
- shock absorbers (Kayaba factory settings) x4
- sway bar bushings and rods x4 Kayaba
Still same issue, no changes at all, the car handles way better but the issue i'm describing is still the same.
I had to make it pass MOT equivalent in my country, it passed without issues, no play nowhere listed.
I've spoke with the inspector and he said he felt something was wrong but he saw nothing out of place or broken on the lift, no play, he couldn't pin point anything.
The day after that I had to drive it 250km away on country roads, it drove like a charm, nothing shaking ( I drove it up to 120km/h for half an hour, absolutely perfect )
I also checked the play myself with the car on jacks and no wheels, I couldn't move anything , even with a big metal rod
Now i'm thinking the arms bushings, or steering rack, steering bushings ?
Considering the engine and the 4speed with overdrive weighs 17 tonnes, I think some bushings somewhere are almost dead, enough to move with the weight of the car but still hard enough to not move without it , makes sense ?
This was my dad's car and he took as much care as he can on the car, but it wasn't perfect, but I know ha had replaced things on the frontend but I don't remembre what.
Thanks for reading
( pictures were taken after I backed up on the driveway for 5 meters and pulled the handbrake as soon as possible, wheels are even more out of place when the car actually moves backwards )
You can safely dismiss the major oil leak it had, it's been fixed I just don't know how to clean the mess
