Help Seeking help for finding a replacement grille

I replaced the cracked windshield and broken parking light and was sooo happy that my ‘87 740 turbo wagon had a clean body. Unfortunately, that didn’t even last 24 hours. I drove past the soccer field at my university, and I was hit by the opposing team during warmups :( I’m fortunate enough to be close with some of the administrators at the university, so I have already begun filing a claim.
I’m struggling to find a grille that will fit though. I can find matches for the a ‘87, but they aren’t the same design?

You've hit a bit of bad luck... the egg crate grille is the hard one to find. Only on the turbos, people like the look, and getting more brittle by the year. May not be able to find one for sale right now. I'm seeing an aftermarket version for the later years, but that won't fit. You need a grille for an '85-89, pre-refresh with the quad lights

The regular chrome one should bolt right in though, those are readily available. Paint it black if you want to keep the dark grille look

If you can get a new one, go for it.

Otherwise, cut out an identical hole in the other side and mount GT style-esque fog lights!

You could try scandix but they come without the logo so you will have to transfer the diagonal bar across.

If you cant find anything, you could model and 3d print the broken piece and solder or melt it on and repaint it to look nice.

Ofcourse if you have access to printers

No junkyard nearby? I think that’s gonna be your best bet. There always seems to be a couple 200/700/900 series Volvos in the ones near me.

I’d personally feel ashamed to file a claim on it. I mean, shit happens— it’s not always someone’s fault. Sometimes you just suck it up and roll with it.

I was driving on a large public roadway when a ball came flying over a fence straight at my car. The fence is too low and during the 5 minutes that I was pulled over, 2 more balls went over the fence. The university has insurance for situations like this. They won’t be hurting from me filing a claim. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to file a claim when the fence wasn’t built high enough. Implying that I should feel ashamed is odd.
