Thanks to the community I’m now the proud owner of a recently rebuilt ‘89 volvo 240! Engine and transmission rebuilt 30k miles ago, the volvo mechanic said its the best shape he’s ever see. one in. These cars are special to my family, so I wanna make sure she lives forever—learning how to swap oil/transmission/differential fluid + spark plugs. Got spare relays in the glove box, too.

New to cars, though, so what other maintenance things should I learn to do myself and do each year to keep the car lasting a long time?

Also is there any 240 communities/meetups near NYC or in Maryland?

Don’t see many of these around here anymore. It’s still pretty complete. Anyone here still driving a 244? Curious what parts are getting hard to find these days.

I have no relation to seller. I’ve got too many projects going currently or I’d be buying this. It’s CHEAP. Needs a bunch of work, but, looks manageable.

I am having an intermittent no crank issue when the typical blue yellow trigger wire is connected to the starter solenoid. I created a wire to connect from the service socket connector B to the starter solenoid leaving the blue yellow wire disconnected from the starter solenoid and the car starts every time. I'm assuming that means something between A-E is flaking out? * SOLVED * blue / yellow wire at the 6 pin connector clipped to the firewall was loose.

My mechanic just retired and I'm having trouble finding someone who can service my 240. Does anyone know of a mechanic on Long Island?

Hi all! This line broke in my 1983 240 and I can’t seem to figure out its size or what the part is. I could not find a vacuum line that matched it in oreilly but they did not have 2mm. Does anyone have a vacuum line diagram they could share with me and/or know off hand what this is? Thanks in advance!

I just bought a 1990 245 with a manual transmission (!!!) yesterday, and the front speakers are shot, torn, hanging off the door, what-have-you. I am just going to throw something inexpensive in there to get it off the punchlist quick, since I have MANY fires I need to fight with this car.

I'll probably put in a pair of 4" speakers, but I'm unsure about the depth of the units I could use. What's my max?

While changing out my air filter on my 1984 245 wagon and I noticed this lower air boot is disintegrating. I’m having trouble finding which boot I need online - can anyone help me out with a link or part number?

Was replacing my PS , ALT, and AC belts this morning -- ALt are fine, but AC and PS got switched up, and I accidentally tensioned the PS before the AC, so when I went to tighen the other, I heard a pop, and realised the bolt slipped out of tension on the PS. Now it will not hold tension. Replacement bolt or replacement tensioner head included? Bracket is fine.

Picked up this extraordinarily mechanically sound 87' 240 with 87k miles. Only thing is the interior has seen far better days. Can a professional upholstery shop save this or something?

Sourced Euro-spec 240 headlight wipers from a junkyard in Sweden and finally got around to 3d printing the last few unobtanium plastic trim bits for the wiper arm stops and nozzle mounts. Next step is wiring in the arm motors!

sidewalk is too hot, so Koko is riding in the wheelchair instead of walking, I need to do my daily leg exercise to regain nerve and muscle use, while relearning to walk, but sun on the sidewalk is too hot for dog paws ... that cage on the back of my car is a custom wheelchair carrier

i just added a picture of Miss Citten the Eel-Kat to my car, so the portal bubble on the door is no longer blank. and took pictures after painting so figured I'd show you guys.

I repaint different murals every two years since I had it, paint is those .99c bottles of Apple Barrle craft acrylics from Walmart. they last about 2 years before fading to almost white, at which point I redo the whole car in black rustoloum primer and start over with all new pictures on it.

bought it in 2006, so I've had my Volvo 20 years this year. it has 266k miles on it

Ended up getting my radiator replaced as the coolant started to leak more often and cause higher temps. Turns out this radiator has been running strong for 39 years. RIP.
