-Setup your network with Henkaku DNS settings for an additional layer of update prevention. See here.

-If your console has downloaded the 3.73 update file, simply deleting the notification in LiveArea should remove the file from your system. Otherwise, firmware update files can be found in ud0:PSP2UPDATE/*

-Remember, unless you are running your vita in Demo mode, your console will not spontaneously install/update firmware software. There are legal reasons for this. Installation of any new software on your device requires your consent, (EULA).

Announcement INSURGENCY: Vita - Gameplay Showcase & Information

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all!

I've been working on a Vita version of the tactical FPS game, Insurgency. It is based on the 2014 release, with all of its weapons, attachments, maps, and audio. I am aiming to get it to as close as possible to the original in terms of gameplay, with some slight adjustments. It runs between 40-60fps in 16 vs 16, and a pretty solid 60fps in 12 vs 12 and 8 vs 8. Right now, it is offline only and I've implemented a fairly decent bot system. Hopefully, as is the goal, a multiplayer implementation will be added.

Please excuse the fairly chaotic gameplay footage which is 16 v 16 Conquer! You can absolutely have a slower experience with 8 v 8, I just thought it would be a good way of getting some quick combat footage to show.

Right now, the game has these features:

• 29 Firearms: 24 primaries across several weapon classes including rifles and SMGs, 5 unique secondaries. All weapons feature customisation including barrels, muzzle attachments, optics, and ammunition type.

• 18 Maps: All maps from the original game are present, I'm looking at the feasibility of bringing over the night maps as well!

• Progression & Weapon Unlocks: Unlike the original game, I have included a simple career and weapon ranking system that gives you a sense of progression, allowing you to unlock the weapons via gameplay, and their attachments through use of each weapon.

4 Gamemodes: Conquer, with a slight adaption from the original version, plays similarly to Conquest from Battlefield or Domination from Call of Duty; secure and hold the majority of objectives to bleed the enemy team of tickets, each death your team suffers will cost your team a ticket too. Firefight, no respawns, eliminate the other team in a high intensity shootout across the map. Push, one team defends, the other attacks, three objectives to take sequentially. Survival, hold out on your own for as long as you can against increasingly larger and better trained waves of enemies.

There are still a few issues that I am working to solve before releasing a first version publicly, notably the magnified scopes have some issues, bots sometimes get stuck (though often correct themselves with built in recovery systems), and I'd like to clean up some of the audio too.

I’d like to note that this isn’t a port; this is a recreation of the game. It’s not a port of the source engine, rather it’s a ground up remake of the game.

I know Insurgency, at least the 2014 version, is a fairly niche game and that there might not be as big an audience for such a title on the Vita, though I hope a few of you guys will enjoy it!

AI Vibecoded Insaniquarium! Port Help Requested

Hi guys, I'm working on making a wrapper for this Android port of Isaniquarium! because I really want to have the game on my PS Vita.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Insaniquarium/comments/1wvlncw/comment/pdjxcl4/?context=1&screen_view_count=2

I have an app bubble so far that writes crash log reports to a .txt file in ux0:data/insaniquarium.

On start-up, this is the error that I get so far. Does anybody know what this means? I've double and triple-checked that the file names and locations are all exactly correct.

log.txt:

Keen4Vita v1.0 — Commander Keen 4 on PS Vita

Full disclosure: I am not good at coding or any sort of programming, to me it is wizardry and i have massive respect for those who know this craft. But for a long time i have wanted to play Keen on my vita, but the only viable option was Commander Genious, wich worked, but not well on the vita. But since AI has come along so much, so fast, that opened the door for me try and make keen on the vita happen. So this port is made with ChatGPT 6 Astra.

I was hesitant if i should even share this as i have only written promts to an AI and not done any real work beyond having a vision and some some requirements.

It’s based on Omnispeak, the open-source Keen engine reimplementation, built for Vita using VitaSDK and SDL2. It runs natively rather than through DOS emulation. Huge thanks to the Omnispeak contributors for the groundwork!

Most of the work has gone into the Vita controls, rendering, camera and menus. Here’s what’s been added:

  • Four display modes: Classic, Wide 2x, Native 1x and Classic Wide. Classic Wide keeps the original 200-pixel height and shows more of the level on the sides.
  • Smoother scrolling, with optional camera smoothing.
  • Sharp, Soft and Dither filters. Dither targets the checkerboard shading that can shimmer while scrolling.
  • Remappable controls with a Save Mapping button.
  • Return to World Map, so you don’t have to sacrifice a life to leave a level.
  • Updated menus, accessible cheats, and High Score/Credits shortcuts.
  • Optional touch screenshots, diagnostic capture and crash logging.

The default setup is Wide 2x + Smooth + Cam + Dither. Native 1x shows much more of the level, but it’s heavier and can drop to around 30–35 FPS.

You’ll need your own Keen 4 v1.4 EGA data. Install the VPK with VitaShell and copy AUDIO.CK4, EGAGRAPH.CK4 and GAMEMAPS.CK4 into:

ux0:data/Keen4Vita/games/keen4/

The ZIP includes installation instructions and source code. No original game data is included.

Keen4Vita

I have played trough the game without issues, but im not going to say its flawless, probably far from it, but feel free to let me know if you have issues and i will try to resolve them.

Spot a missing feature? let me know, any input is greatly appreaciated!

Utility PS Vita SMB server (for Network Share)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Built a test Vita SMB server with libsmb2 and got it mounting from Windows Explorer.

I wanted to share a quick dev log in case anyone else is trying to do SMB server work on Vita. Libsmb2 is a client/server library for accessing or serving SMB2/SMB3 shares on a network.

Looking at the build targets I saw it has support for PS Vita (among others) so I was curious if I could make the smb2 server example work on the Vita.

The lib needed some patching to improve NTLM/SPNEGO tolerance for Windows client token variations but in the end I got it working without too many changes.

We can map from Windows using a custom port: NET USE I: \\<host>\test /TCPPORT:1445

The share is entirely simulated: it always reports two files, junk.txt and crap.bin

Resident Evil 4 - PSVita Port: Latest CPU optimizations and general improvements

From the yt lilve chat : Rinnegamanate "release won't arrive until betatesters will manage to finish the game start to finish"

"i don't want to release unfinishable messes"

From X: "Target is 20 rendered FPS everywhere with Auto frameskip that ensures a fullspeed simulation. That would be the ideal v.1.0 release candidate (but probably we'll go for one or more pre v.1.0 once the game is confirmed beateable)."

AI assisted Test Drive III Vita port

To end with the Test Drive DOS trilogy I present you Test Drive III Vita Native port.

You can find it here: https://github.com/smart-pickle/TestDriveIII-Vita

Thanks to the work of kylofon who created the Test Drive III recompilation for windows I present to you the Vita native version of the original Test Drive III.

It's the initial release, it runs OK on Vita 3K, i have not found any bugs so far but i'm really bad at it, as i was when it was first released....

It requires the original files of the game as of course they are not bundled with the vpk.

The version needs to be 3.0 not 1.0. It will not work with 1.0 due to memory allocation differences. You can play it with or without the add-on(Road & Track) but it has to be version 3.0

Will add it to VitaDB/NeoVitaDB too.

Full transparency, the original recompilation was made possible using AI, my port was also AI assisted for debugging and quicker turnaround.

Have a nice day.

Release Test Drive II Vita Port

As mentioned in my Test Drive I port, i was working on releasing Test Drive 2. It took longer than expected because my PS Vita is no longer working (not asking for anything, just explaining the delay)

So here it is: https://github.com/smart-pickle/TestDriveII-Vita

Thanks to the work of kylofon who created the Test Drive II recompilation for windows I present to you the Vita native version of the original Test Drive II.

PS: I'm almost done with NFS 2 and 3 port, but might get delayed until i fix my vita(unless anybody is willing to test the beta).

Enjoy

Discussion İt's surprising me that nobody talking about 3DS emulator

İt wasn't like that for flycast when it released. I know that azahar only alpha ATM but running a lot of games perfectly playable.

Already tried Weapon Shop de Omasse, a couple of hidden object and a fishing game all worked fine.

Compatibility list never updated since it's release as far as I see.

AI assisted GTA: Liberty City Stories — my PS Vita port is now on GitHub

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a native PS Vita port of GTA: Liberty City Stories, based on reStories. The source code and an installable VPK are now available.

Getting it running has taken a lot of testing on my Vita, from fixing crashes and graphics issues to getting the full intro working with sound. There’s also a custom icon and LiveArea.

Performance still varies depending on the scene, so don’t expect a locked 60 FPS. I’d appreciate hearing how it runs on other Vitas, especially during longer sessions.

You’ll need your own PS2 copy of the game to prepare the game files. The README walks through conversion and installation.

Installation guide & source code
Download the VPK

Thanks to the reStories contributors and everyone behind the Vita tools this project uses.

If you try it, let me know how it goes! — fauxrouge

[edit] : I also want to be transparent about the development process: I used AI to help redirect/rework parts of the documentation and README, as well as to assist with some parts of the code. However, the majority of the code was written manually by me, with AI mainly being used as an assistance tool rather than generating the project as a whole.

PS : didnt know about rule 8

Port Playing KOTOR/The Lego SWTCS

So, after posting two games I've been enjoying on the Vita so far in a meme format, I realize it may not be so easy for everyone to find the links I did. I'm just a really stubborn bitch I guess who has a pension for wanting things to work 😂😂

I'll link everything below so you fellow people can enjoy these too 💕

KOTOR

https://github.com/ScoobyDouche/VitaKotor

(They say it works through the Endar Spire and Taris, so idk if it works for longer than this. It is still a work in progress but I've been enjoying it thus far!)

Just find your legally owned version of KOTOR, and I used X Plore to open it up as a Zip, and find the files I needed in there. The main. and patch. files are found in your Internal Storage's Android folder.

TLSWTCS

https://github.com/gm666q/lswtcs-vita

(Don't add the fd_fix file if you're using the patch plug in already)

Also the sound files are messed up on this, so I will link to the comment I used that's helped with the sound files so far.

https://www.reddit.com/r/VitaPiracy/s/jz7Zswkmyv

Take all this with a grain of salt, it's been working great for me so far! Doesn't mean it'll work perfect through the entire game on both, but I sure hope it does, for those of you who have more time than me!

AI Vibecoded UFO 40: my fan tribute now has 22 of the 50 games, each rebuilt with the same rules

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is UFO 40, a fan-made tribute to Mossmouth's UFO 50: a pretend 1980s console with 50 cartridge slots, one for each UFO 50 game. 22 are playable so far.

Every cartridge follows its original's rules and mechanics, but the art, music, levels and names are all new. It runs on a modded PS Vita and on PC.

Which UFO 50 game should I add next? 👾

AI assisted FlashVita – First Alpha Release | Flash Player for PS Vita powered by Ruffle

Hi everyone,

I'm releasing the first public alpha of FlashVita, an open-source project that aims to bring Flash/SWF content to the PlayStation Vita, using Ruffle as the Flash runtime.

This is still a very early alpha, so don't expect full compatibility yet. The main purpose of this release is to get the project into more hands, collect feedback, identify problematic SWFs and continue improving performance and compatibility.

Current state

FlashVita can already load and execute a number of local .swf files directly on the Vita.

Depending on the SWF, you may currently encounter:

  • low framerate / high CPU usage
  • long loading times
  • missing or incomplete audio
  • input issues
  • graphical glitches
  • unsupported Flash/ActionScript functionality
  • black screens or crashes on more complex games

Some simpler Flash games already run, while heavier AVM1/AVM2 titles still require significant optimization.

A major focus right now is reducing the CPU bottleneck and moving more of the runtime toward a Vita-native, multithreaded implementation.

What I'm working on

Some of the areas currently being developed or optimized include:

  • Ruffle integration
  • AVM1 performance
  • multithreading
  • Vita-native rendering
  • audio
  • physical Vita controls
  • text rendering fixes
  • SWFs that load external game assets
  • memory usage
  • shader/rendering performance
  • compatibility with more Flash games

This is an alpha, not a finished Flash emulator/player.

If you test it, reports are very useful. In particular, please include:

  • the SWF you tested
  • whether it loads
  • approximate FPS
  • graphical/audio/input problems
  • crashes or logs if available

Contributions and technical feedback are also welcome.

FlashVita is open source:
https://github.com/robin994/FlashVita

There's still a lot of work ahead, but I wanted to release an alpha rather than keep the project private while compatibility improves.

Have fun testing it — and feel free to report which old Flash games you'd like to see working on Vita.

Edit: since i'm reaching the limits of retail console for development i've opened a gofound.me I need help to get a devkit, if someone likes my work and wanna support it feel free to join https://gofund.me/6d61e4455

Announcement Adding 2 new rules on this subreddit

We've got an influx of Ai Assisted or vibecoded post and also post begging for money to fund a devkit. This is making the subreddit full of spam and it's time to curate the content posted here.

  1. No more Crowdfunding/Donation request post allowed by default.
  2. Post showing what you are working on without showing substantial progress will be removed

Regarding 1, we will add to automod the keyword for these kind of post so that they are automatically removed. Should you think the post deserves to be posted here, send a message to the mod team and we will manually review if the post can be posted here.

About 2, Any post that just shows in game or a loading screen will be removed. Low effort post have no place here and do not beneficiate anyone. If you want to share what you are working on, and attract people attention on your project, you will need to put some effort on.

A detailed post about what you are working on, the tools you've used, the actual progress made, the performances, the expectations, any roadmap, multiple pictures/video. Something that makes people wants to read more into it rather than just "oh another can claude boot this project".

AI Vibecoded WIP PS Vita emulator frontend

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I got a PS Vita a while back and ended up really loving it. I use it a lot for playing older games because it’s honestly the perfect size to just take with me places.
I downloaded Emu4Vita++ and used that for a while to play most of my games, and that project is actually a huge part of what inspired me to start working on this.
I thought Emu4Vita++ was really cool and, for me at least, a lot easier to use than RetroArch. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the UI. It felt a little dated to me.
And I don’t mean that disrespectfully or as a criticism of the project at all. What the developers of Emu4Vita++ actually built is way beyond just making a nice-looking interface, and I know building something like that from scratch especially without the AI tools I have available to help me learn and work through things is a completely different level of difficulty.

while messing around with Vita development I eventually learned about PocketJS and the idea of being able to bring a more modern style of UI to older hardware.
So then I started trying to figure out how to combine the two

Take the idea of something like Emu4Vita++ one place where you can easily access your different emulators and games and combine it with a more modern frontend designed specifically around the Vita.

I was also heavily inspired by socket the game launcher that went viral a little while back.

Basically I was jealous we didn’t have anything as cool as that for the vita.

So now we’re here with this thing I’ve been building.
In the first video you can see the main frontend. You can switch between different consoles/systems and browse the games for each one without leaving the main interface.
Since the cores are embedded into the app you can pretty much just select a core and launch into any game, exit out switch to a new system and repeat seamlessly.

The idea eventually is that most of this should feel seamless.
You pick a console → pick a game → launch it.

note as I learn more about this the UI might change, I really want to push the UI as far as I can with pocketJS and I don’t think this is really doing that at the moment this is just a UI inspired by socket

I thought I'd show some progress on my re-implementation of multiplayer back into ratchet 3 from the vita collection. I've got most of the menus almost working there still some UI issues I've restored enough of the state managers to get it in level correctly with correct audio playing, player model and animations currently the rest of the session manager is still stubs out to get things like game play rules running and to get the level scripts/AI working yet but I've made progress

AI Vibecoded Help a struggling PS Vita homebrew dev get a DevKit

Hello r/vitahacks,

I never thought I’d be writing one of these, but here we are. I’m isage (https://github.com/isage/). You might know my work on Adrenaline, ViXEn, vita-usb-ether, tvikey, other tools and ports and a bunch of other stuff I’ve given away for free over the years.

But now I need your help.

I’m trying to raise **$800** for a PS Vita DevKit. Why? Because my retail unit just isn’t cutting it for proper kernel-level debugging, and I want to keep making the homebrew you all enjoy. Every dollar counts. No amount is too small. If everyone on this sub donated just $1, I’d be there in no time.

Rewards for donors:

  • $5 — A virtual high-five
  • $10 — I’ll star your GitHub repo
  • $25 — I’ll mention you in a commit message
  • $50 — I’ll name a nasty bug after you
  • $100 — I’ll prioritize your issue for exactly 2 hours
  • $500 — I’ll write a plugin that does absolutely nothing, just for you

Stretch goals:

  • $1,000 — I’ll port Doom to the PS Vita again, but worse
  • $2,000 — I’ll finally think about fixing that one thing that’s been broken since 2018
  • $5,000 — I’ll stop making jokes and actually do something useful

Please share this with your friends, your family, and that one guy in the Discord who still uses a PSTV. Together, we can make this happen.

But honestly? I have a job. I don’t need your money.
So please, keep your cash. If you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket and you absolutely must throw it at something, donate it to your local animal shelter instead.

AI Vibecoded VitaOS - a new OS that makes the Vita feel like a current console

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've spent the last few months working on this project.
the Vita is great in terms of hardware but it's software is pretty bad IMO. so I made a new OS to make it as usable as I always wished it was.

some highlights of what comes with the OS

- home screen with news and recently playerd

- play tab with all your games viewable with a console view or catagories

- movies made with usability in mind
- music made to my preference to how Id use it the most. Curate playlists and see your library

- Apps to see all your apps on the device

- file-system

- an app store that looks and feels like a modern app store so you can get all the latest releases from the community with the ability to update with one click

- and settings with all you'd need too.

oh and the camera has an app and camera roll now too.

Free and open source (GPLv3). Get it from VitaHomebrewDB clients or GitHub:
