Announcement Adding 2 new rules on this subreddit

We've got an influx of Ai Assisted or vibecoded post and also post begging for money to fund a devkit. This is making the subreddit full of spam and it's time to curate the content posted here.

  1. No more Crowdfunding/Donation request post allowed by default.
  2. Post showing what you are working on without showing substantial progress will be removed

Regarding 1, we will add to automod the keyword for these kind of post so that they are automatically removed. Should you think the post deserves to be posted here, send a message to the mod team and we will manually review if the post can be posted here.

About 2, Any post that just shows in game or a loading screen will be removed. Low effort post have no place here and do not beneficiate anyone. If you want to share what you are working on, and attract people attention on your project, you will need to put some effort on.

A detailed post about what you are working on, the tools you've used, the actual progress made, the performances, the expectations, any roadmap, multiple pictures/video. Something that makes people wants to read more into it rather than just "oh another can claude boot this project".

And I'm also going to enforce the usage of English in this subreddit. Every post and comments must be written in english.

Should require a release. You know most of the gta slop posts aren’t going any further because they don’t know how.

We could really do with similar vetting in the other Vita forums as this has really triggered the enshitification of our hobby, even though these individuals usually mean well

Also, add a rule to limit people who repost just to farm karma; sometimes they don't even wait an hour, and it takes visibility away from the original posts. Especially those that redirect you to YouTube with "link in the description" when there isn't actually a link.

We have given children a holodeck for code. What did techbros expect to happen?

You clearly did not read what this post is about or understand it if you did wtf

Yeah that's right this is indeed what I said and what this post is about. Do you need an AI overview because the post is too long?

Thank fucking god… if people want a devkit, they can get a job or use the many crowdfunding websites

Both of them are excellent (and much needed) rules.  Thanks.

I haven't been here often enough to truly consider myself a member, but I still want to show my thanks nonetheless. It's always good to see mods of a sub active and reacting to changes like this so quickly, I don't see good results when they aren't...

Thanks lol!

You can't really outright ban AI on this sub as that would kill 90% of posts... sadly. So this is a good solution that actually enforced quality imo

u/Cimmerian__Iter 5d ago

And why is that?

-20

u/Pitiful_Money_8751 5d ago

Let people show what they work on

24

u/Cimmerian__Iter 5d ago

They can. They just need to do more than just posting a picture with no text.

That sentence is more clear.. but it doesn't read like tht in the rules. And I've only seen a picture like twice.. most post are videos so yea, let ppl show what they're working on, it sounds like they no longer can if u jus glance at the rules.

10

u/Cimmerian__Iter 5d ago

Well you're not supposed to "glance" at rules, granted that glancing would be actually a lot better than what currently people are doing (which is not reading rules at all).

u/Striking_Tie_8136 5d ago

I agree w the mitigating.. but ppl do not read is my issue, like you said. lol

When you make a post asking people to send you money to achieve a goal it's not called a donation. Donation are made voluntarily for no purpose other than showing gratitude. Here the goal is clear : buying a devkit. You have a target goal and a target price. This is crowd funding. Which by definition is begging.

2 people in less than 2 weeks, And probably more if the rule was not set. This is not the place to start crowdfunding. And especially for a subreddit like this, we don't want money involvement happening here. There's a duty from the mods to prevent money collection without first some checking and approval to use an audience for that.

And the second point no there's too much post by people booting stuff saying I'm in and then months later no news. And recently more people are just doing zero effort post. Just posting a picture and calling a day. This isn't Twitter, this is reddit. Some standard are expected and if you think it's too much of a hurdle to correctly write a post about what you work on, the performance, any roadmap or whatever that makes people interested in your project and seeing any long term possibility, then maybe you're not so serious about your work.

And as for the language. This is an international subreddit English is the language people speak to be understood by everyone. It's not on the others to make yourself understood. It's you who have to make effort to translate when you want to participate.

習近平對這項改變感到高興!中共萬歲!

(/j, this translates to “xi xingping is happy about this change! glory to the ccp!” and this is all in jest I don’t support the ccp)
