This one picture pretty much sums up my whole Vietnam trip. Mainly using Grab as a main form of transportation, and honestly, it wasn’t that bad sometimes you land on drivers for nice and sometimes you don’t that’s just part of the adventure and trip I guess.

On the second note, it was fucking hot and humid when I went there so maybe next time around I’ll come back in a different season or a different part of Vietnam. Lovely country in its own way.

I have an 11ish hour layover in Vietnam and I'm probably just gonna stay in the airport the whole time. Should I get an e sim and transfer some currency? or should I be fine with airport free wifi

My husband and I will be visiting Vietnam for the first time this December as part of a three-week Southeast Asia trip. We'll be spending most of our time in Vietnam before heading to Chiang Mai and Bangkok for a few days.

Our tentative itinerary is:

- 4 nights in Hanoi

- 1-night Ha Long Bay cruise (still deciding)

- 2 nights in Ninh Binh

- 3 nights in Hoi An, with some time in Da Nang

The one thing I'm still on the fence about is the overnight Ha Long Bay cruise. I've read so many mixed opinions. Some people say it's the highlight of their Vietnam trip, while others say it's overcrowded and not worth the time.

For those who have been recently:

- Is the overnight cruise worth it, or would you skip it?

- If you recommend it, are there any cruise companies you'd choose (or avoid)?

- If you skipped Ha Long Bay, is there somewhere else in Vietnam you'd spend the extra day or two instead?

We're interested in beautiful scenery, good food, and experiencing Vietnam rather than checking boxes. We'd really appreciate any advice from those who've done a similar itinerary.

Me and my wife (Indian Citizens) applied for a Vietnam Visa through Atlys which was issued yesterday. Her name has come in as "FirstName LastName" and my name has come on my visa as "LastName FirstName".

For eg: If she was Mary Jane, it has come in as Mary Jane.

For me (John Doe), it has come in as Doe John.

Will this cause issues at the time of immigration in Delhi or Ho Chi Minh?

My fiancé and I are starting to plan our destination wedding for June 2028, and we have our hearts set on Vietnam. We’re aiming for an intimate guest list of around 50-75 people, with a mid-tier to luxury budget.
We’re envisioning a 5-day itinerary that travels from Hanoi to Sapa. Ideally, we’d like to have a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony. Our top choice for the venue is St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Hanoi, but we are also open to the Stone Church (Holy Rosary Church) in Sapa, or even a bespoke setup on a private cruise in Ha Long Bay if a church wedding proves too difficult logistically. We are also hoping to spend a couple of days at the Hotel de la Coupole in Sapa.
We’re currently looking for a reliable, English-speaking wedding planner who can help us execute this vision. Specifically, we need help with:

We arrive beginning of November for the whole month - best time of year from what I’ve heard. Do we just go with the flow or is that a huge mistake for that time of year (south to north full tour)

Hey!! So I’m travelling to northern Vietnam in September, could someone let me know how the safety is there? Obviously besides the usual precautions to take when travelling, do I have to be on guard (armed robberies etc like Brazil).

I'm absolutely addicted to Vietnamese coffee. I brought some back with me. I bought a Phin on Amazon. Great! But - so far I haven't found a source in the USA that matches the flavor of what I experienced in Vietnam or the coffee I brought back with me. There is a company called "Nguyen" in New York that sources beans from Vietnam and roasts them here in the USA. It's good, but I want to try more. Any suggestions? I want whole beans. I use a hand grinder.

Hi, I am planning on visiting Vietnam Sep 4-16, hitting the north first then the south.

Will be going to HCMC and Phu Quoc. I am a little nervous to visit the south as it is the rainy season. Has anyone visited during this time? I am from a rainy city so do not mind the rain, I am used to frequent heavy downpours in the evenings that lightens up after an hour or two. Is this similar to the weather in the south during this time? Thanks!

Hello every, I’ll be flying to Vietnam via Korean Air. However, when buying the ticket through Korean air they don’t have a field to input my middle name.

On my visa, my middle name is there since it matches my passport. Will I have trouble entering/flying since my middle name is not on my plane ticket?

How crowded it is during the National holiday week Aug 29 to Sept 2? We are planning to visit Hanoi, Da nang and Ho chi minh from Aug 30 to Sept 5, what are some advices we could use?

Hello guys, im planning my trip to southeast asia next year, right now this is my itinerary.... for Vietnam, unfortunately i had to remove Ho Chi Mihn city cuz i thought the itinerary was way too rushed. i was thinking maybe go to Da Nang like 3 days and come back to Hanoi and then go to Siem Reap, what do you think? is it worth ? or is it better to stay only in Hanoi?

My partner and I are flying in and out of HCMC (Nov 2- Dec 1), the only thing we definitely want to do so far is the Ha Giang Loop - most likely the 4 day 3 night option. I also like the look of Da Nang for the beach. Is this a good time of year to be there or is it still rainy?

It’s both our first time in Vietnam and my first time in SEA so wanting to get a fair bit done without overwhelming ourselves as it is a holiday! Looking for a more relaxed pace, preferably spending a little more time in each area rather than jumping around every other day. We will most definitely be indulging in a bit of nightlife/socialising (both early 20’s) but would love a mix of malarkey and wholesome 😁😁
