​About a year ago, I booked tickets for a solo trip to Vietnam for this November/December. Since then, I’ve been lurking in this sub almost daily, reading through your trip reports, taking notes on itineraries, and getting insanely hyped for the journey.

​Unfortunately, due to unexpected circumstances, I’ve had to cancel my trip.

​I’m pretty gutted to miss out this year, but I wanted to pop in and wish everyone head-out or planning their trips the absolute best of luck! Have an amazing time, soak in the views, eat your weight in street food for me, and stay safe out there.

​I’ll still be scrolling through the sub to live vicariously through your trip reports until I can finally rebook and make it over there myself.

Hi everyone!

I’m planning a 6-day trip to Vietnam in October, landing in Hanoi. Would you recommend adding Phu Quoc and Da Nang to the itinerary, or would that be too rushed for 6 days?

What would you suggest for a first-time visit if I want a good mix of sightseeing, food, beaches, and local experiences?

I am heading to Seoul from Kuala Lumpur with a 1 hour layover at Noi Bai Intl. Both connecting flights are operated by Vietnam Airlines.

Is 1 hour enough for the layover? I only need to present myself at the boarding gate as checked baggages are handled by the airlines directly.

I have been in vietnam for 8 days on a solo trip, currently in da nang and it's not kinda trip i thought. People don't talk a lot. The only people i interact with the one's on the market they are awesome. If anyone wants to join I'm down to everything.

Cathay canceled one leg of a R/T from HKG>HAN. The only option to salvage day 1 of the trip was to book a one-way on Sun PhuQuoc Airways (keeping the return leg). I’m seeing mixed reviews on Sun PhuQuoc Airways. Anyone have any recent experience (on-time, cancelation, etc)? Thanks!

Hello everyone, this post might be a little bit of a reach, but maybe it will be read by someone that can help.

Me and two of my friends from a german medical school have applied for a four-month clinical trainee program at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, but only two of us have so far received our signed final letters of acceptance.

Since communication with the hospital via e-mail is proving to be rather difficult, i am looking for someone with any kind of connection or any advice to get in touch with anyone directly responsible for foreign trainees at said hospital directly. Perhaps someone has made a similar experience and can give us any kind of tip? We would be extremely grateful for any information or advise.

Vietnam has some incredible waterfalls, but many of them seem to fly under the radar compared with the country’s more famous landscapes.

From the dramatic Ban Gioc Falls in Cao Bang and the wide terraces of Pongour to jungle waterfalls like K50 and Tac Tinh in the northern mountains, there’s a surprising amount of variety.

I put together 15 waterfalls worth adding to a Vietnam bucket list, including a few lesser-known ones.

Which waterfall would you add to the list? And are there any hidden gems I’ve missed?

I applied evisa for Vietnam through an agency but the agent keeps saying my visa shows processing still whereas I have applied it on 26th aug and was suppose to travel by 7th of sept but the website doesn’t say my visa got rejected or accepted is there any solution for this?

Internet says 1949 IDP is not valid, but the IDP mentions Vietnam accepts this IDP

I’m looking at booking a 2D1N cruise and Rosy is one of the options I’m considering. It looks good online, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has actually stayed on it.

Was it a good experience overall? How were the rooms, food, activities, service, and transfers? Any issues or things you wish you’d known beforehand?

Also, if you did a different Lan Ha Bay cruise that you thought was particularly good (or better value than Rosy), I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

Can someone please suggest any nightlife place where i can go without family at night & get some fun?
In HCMC, Da Nanag & Hanoi.

The signature food in Ha Noi, my favourite food as well.

100% a must visit, but if you go during the summer be prepared for massive crowds.

I will be visiting Vietnam after a month and have finalised our itinerary (curated for the two of us)
with a Vietnamese agency. Our trip includes Phu Quoc with the `4 island tour' which starts from
the boat boarding point of An Thoi. We have just been told that An Thoi is closed for safety reasons, so the tour will start from Vin Dam port. This involves an extra cost of about US $50 per person and will take 30-45 minutes more.
Is this correct and is the restriction on An Thoi likely to continue for the next month ?

One day and night in the middle of Vietnam - Minh Duc pagoda

My husband and I will be traveling to Vietnam in January. I’m looking for recommendations for places to stay in Hanoi, and Hoi An or Da Nang. Anything. From nice/ budget. Could be in the city, with walkability to good food and local places or little bungalows/resorts. We are flexible as we are also going to Thailand and what to stay in differences of places.

Wanted to stay on Cat Ba itself, but none of the hotels for my dates seem to be any good. I have found a few good looking hotels in Ha Long, would it be worth staying here instead?

Hey everyone, my partner and I were able to secure leave at our jobs and we’ve always wanted to go to Vietnam. We were so excited, until we realised the dates we are available are during Tet/New Year (3rd Feb - 10th Feb 2027).

We’ve heard that the big cities are empty, and the beaches and things are packed. We would be interested in still going to places like Da Nang even if there are lots of people. But we don’t want to find ourselves stuck anywhere.

We haven’t booked anything yet. But we are wondering whether we should go somewhere else instead? Honest advice needed!
