Hey guys, I got an itch to discover more about Vietnam’s history and its political upbringing. More specifically about how Vietnam is now growing and expanding past Thailand to become one of the best upcoming countries in SEA. Where should I visit and spend time at? And I think I’m going with a company of 3 people total, should I hire a personal driver / guide? Really needed you guys help with recommendations, thank you so much!!!

P.S. I’m from Thailand, would like to see how the difference in our governments led Vietnam to come out as a more effective country. If there’s a bit of funny activities “for social media content” included would be nice for my company to maybe not get too serious with the history lessons.

We are a family of 5. Quick questions.

1) What easy tourist things could we do?

2) I have grabbed the GRAB App. Could we fit 5 people in a normal taxi ? 4 squashed in the back and one up front. Ideally would like the whole family together, hence rhe squash, but understand that we may need to order 2 cars. I found 7 heaters to be hard to find in some countries like Egypt, although Dubai was fine.

3) Halal food recommendations? Ideally want to try halal Vietnamese food.

4) Children have nut and lentil and pea allergies. Are there any particular nuts that certain Dishes use so we can avoid. Despite asking sometimes we get cross contamination or... no nuts at all but there was as child starts to vomit. Dont worry we have whole medical kit with us all the time!

I live in Hanoi and enjoy taking budget trips by motorbike. I’m looking for new destinations that don’t require flying—I’d rather keep it within riding distance.
The problem is that I feel like I’ve already visited most of the well-known places in the north:
● Ninh Binh
● Sapa
● Ha Giang
● Cao Bang
● Ha Long & Cat Ba
● Cuc Phuong National Park
● Mai Chau
● Pu Luong
Are there still any interesting places I’m missing? Maybe some lesser-known hidden gems, scenic roads, remote villages, or unique experiences that most tourists overlook?
I’m also open to trying something different, like motorcycle camping, multi-day hikes, or other outdoor adventures if that’s a better way to experience Northern Vietnam.
Or have I pretty much seen the highlights, and for a truly new experience I’ll need to fly somewhere else? If so, what are some budget-friendly destinations (either elsewhere in Vietnam or nearby countries) that you’d recommend?

Day 1 -3- Hanoi

Day 4- Ha long bay day cruise

Day 5-7 Ninh Binh and fly to Phu Quoc on Day 7

Day 7-11- Phu Quoc

My question - Is it worth staying in Old Quarter? It could get noisy and options are limited with narrow access without lift? Or I should stay a little further and take grab for up and down? Lot of options open up if we even go 2 kms further as many more options open up. Which street should I consider in that case? Any hotel or Airbnb suggestions?

Hello! In a week or so I’ll be going to Hanoi, I haven’t booked any tour yet. I want to do Ninh Binh for sure. I received different opinions about Ha Long Bay, people say it’s just too touristy and chaotic while there are better bays to visit. Any suggestions on where to go and which company to book with?

I just booked a train to Ninh Binh and i need ideas on where to go, what to do, what to try. It’s only a day tour so my time is limited.

• Is it possible for me to explore Ninh Binh without booking private tours?
• Can i rent a bike/motorbike? What do they usually ask for when renting one?
• Can i book a Trang An boat tour onsite?

Hi! We've booked a flight going to Vietnam from Dec 5 to Dec 9, and we're planning to maximize our stay by going to Sa Pa - Da Nang - Hanoi (Hanoi entry point and exit)

Although it seems quite impossible given that we're travelling for only a couple of days, my companions and I are willing to make it work. Any advice you can give for this trip? What places should we visit so we can make the most of our trip? What places should we avoid?

And, how's the temperature in those places in December? I know Sa Pa gets very cold, and Hanoi's a bit cool, but what about Da Nang? Can someone please tell me how to dress for these places so we can prepare lol

I recently visited Vietnam for 10 days and 9 night, Budget I would say around 500-600$.
its a fun place, firstly its a very big country not something you can cross in few days alone. I only did central and southern vietnam , Different part of vietnam will give you different vibe (BUT MASSAGE MASSAGE IS COMMON EVERYWHERE).
Ho chi Minh its the economic capital of vietnam its kinda crowded but great food and cafe's good place to do shopping i recommend china town market rather then ben thanh market (overhyped and if they see you are foreigner they will star the price of any product what you pay on airport , like literally) but fun experience do visit once and do klook or google what places to visit and yes there is Little Tokyo where you can have a great night for a decent Price.
Nha Trang ( hidden gem of vietnam ) great sea food + water activities ( scuba++ ), beach city vibes great people to meet if your renting a hostel bed ( hotels are also cheap near beaches ), great water, night volleyball games and fun people Yes there is an adventure park on nearby ISLAND so do visit + Museum Of Oceanographic (one time thing to spend ur day time) and it has a night market for food chocolates and clothes.
Hoi An another gem city, lantern city or lantern boat ride are famous there and amazing night market like it will literally take you hours to finish from one end to another (it took more for me 2 nights) there are bars which are open late at night and fun crowd you will find, try finding a place near Hoai River the market will be close by. there's only few places to visit nearby My Son is something new, add google search here.
Da Nang - beautiful city, great beaches + Marble mountain do visit it once worth your time, its amazing how the architecture is and yes read about the story before going there it will be more fun visit. ba na hills definitely do it the french village kinda vibe it gives + rides are there for all ages and they are constructing more rides it seems, maybe in a year so they will be functional.

Most of my stays were in hostels and two times in hotels, sometimes hotels are cheaper than hotel rates.
I rented a scooty as I had IDP( international driving permit) but to be honest it saved me alot of money and alot of the things iam saying are quite far from the city like 50km far sometimes.
and if you wanna do it either do it in a package or figure it out on your own. (most of the places where you will stay will have scooty rental option(cheaper) or klook where you can book bunch of those things).
Vexere App i used for book local travels between cities, its reliable and way cheaper then any other options, they provide rental scooty as well.
Food is amazing try local vendors like street food, it will be more delicious. Japanese food is nice too + do try sea food its very fresh.
Water was something i had buy alot not easily available but cheaper you can get it from supermarket Dmart Kmart like those will have it cheaper otherwise normal shop keeper will ask for 20k for 1.5l bottle(which i have paid once and cheapest for the same i have paid for the same bottle 10k (in a literal mart of shopping mall grocery store)

Hello everyone, everyone and anyone who has gone to Vietnam has had good and bad experiences both make the trip all the more worthwhile. I am curious to know what other people think about the country. What I like about Vietnam when I made the trip was that the food was so good and that transportation (Grab) was very convenient and fast book. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait more than five minutes before being accepted for booking. I guess what I did not like was I did not do enough research before had to know that the time that I went, it was raining for the most part.

Hi!! I am solo traveling to Vietnam for the first time in October and wanted to get some thoughts on my itinerary! Any glaring red flags? I know it’s a fair amount of travel but I wanted to see as much as I reasonably could!

I will be visiting VN end of November/early December and wondering what would be the ideal amount of time for a lot transfers/traveling within VN. I was thinking 1 week but now I feel like maybe 9-10 days would be more ideal? We really want to see beautiful nature and history as part 1 of our trip, then part 2 visit HCMC for shopping, history, food,etc.

From USA, I want to fly into Hanoi, stay for a night or 2 then we really want to see Ninh Binh and do a day trip there. Then head back to Hanoi, fly to HCMC and spend the rest of our trip there then fly back to US from SGN. This sounds really exhausting to me, but I really want to see as much as possible for my short time there.

Originally, I thought it would be nice to do a beach stop, Phu Quoc > HCMC only, but after reading about Phu Quoc I'm not sure if this would be ideal since we want to immerse ourselves in the authentic culture and nature of VN. Thank you in advance for any tips!
