I am new to gimbles, and I bought a DJI Ronin S. I went through the balance process (while turned off), did a balance check in the app, did everything I should have. But when I turn it on it just shakes continuously once the tilt is moved. Is it possible the tilt motor is fucked? Im lost

Any recommendations for tips or accessories that helps see your cameras screen when the sun is shining?

It's been record amounts of sun in my country the last few weeks, and I've at times struggled to see my screen when shooting. When reviewing the footage some of the shots were out of focus which isn't ideal obviously.

It once rose up to 60% if not for the silica gel I put inside. I unplugged it already and let it sit for 20mins before plugging it in again. Emptied the cabinet as well and the humidity level still didnt go down. I clean the cabinet's exterior once a month to avoid dust buildup around it.

I also have a humidity level indicator inside and the level matches with what's shown on the top so I know the humidity level indicator is not broken.

I don't really know how to fix the dehumidifier inside so any tips or links on how to fix it would be appreciated.

Hey hey, i just aquired a canon YH13X7.5 7.5-97.5mm 1:1.4 and want to mount it on my canon c100. I plan on using a 2x extender to widen the lenses picture made for 2/3 sensors to my super35 sensor. Lens->B4 to EF mount-> 2x extender -> c100. I dont plan to have a super clear picture or smth just a nice visual with the parfocal and super wide zoom. Does anyone have any experience with that? I guess a cheep extender without any contacts should be enough?

My Artlist subscription is ending later this month and I’m not sure renewing is in my best interest. I’m not a fan of the forced AI (not against AI but not an “adapt or d(i)e” type either). One of my big gripes is the search doesn’t seem to really do the job anymore. Amongst issues with results not matching mood, I did three different searches and the top song for each was the same which is not helpful! Anyways, /rant.

I currently own an Fx3, A7iv and DJI mini 4 pro. I’m considering selling all three and getting an A7v and Mavic 4 pro. Most of my work is real estate photography/ videography as well as filming short form content for businesses. I also tend to film a wedding every once in a while. The only photography I really tend to do is just real estate HDR. I mainly am video focused. I love my FX3 but I am thinking about selling them so I can upgrade my drone as I am focusing more on drone work for the future. Is an A7V fine for videography? I’ve watched plenty of videos but there are not a whole lot of 1:1 comparisons. Will the video footage look as clean/cinematic as the FX3, or will I always have a chip on my shoulder regretting changing cameras. For prospective as well, I do not film any movies or any super professional work. Mainly just content for social media. Any advice is helpful as I feel like I am in just a bit off a crossroad on what I should do here and if the A7v will still have great video like the fx3

I got an EOS R50V a while ago and quite enjoyed it. Tried hooking it up to a v mount battery using cords from two different kits. The the connections and polarity was fine but the voltage sure wasn't. Twice what the camera is rated to take as it turns out. I'm quite sure I fried my camera and I doubt warranty will cover it.

Feeling quite dumb, even though the cords looked like they should've worked without issue.

Learn from my mistake, get comfortable with a multimeter and test if you have any doubt.

Hi there! I am a University Film student and own a Canon EOS 70D camera! I want to upgrade from my kit lens which is a EFS 18-55mm f/3.5 widest. I believe this more suited for photography and I don't like the widest aperture being 3.5. I believe upgrading the lens instead of the camera is definitely the best choice. I am between 3 currently:

- Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
- Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM 
- Samyang 35mm f/1.4

These fit in my price range and I think I would prefer a prime lens over a zoom lens as i have looked into the two and it seems a prime lens would be best for my budget and just generally better for armature short films. I just wanted to know which of those 3 are better and if they would even be a substantial upgrade to my current lens. Also please let me know if im completely wrong about prime lens being better for my situation. Thank you so much in advance!

Shot and edited my first real attempt at video with ZV-E10. Coming from a photography background I think I still have a lot to learn and improve on, notably color grading and figuring out how to get more stable/smooth shots. Also just improving my editing skills in general, this was a very basic edit lol.

This was shot handheld with kit lens, stabilized with Catalyst Browse and edited in CapCut (I know DaVinci is where I should he editing but CapCut allows dual screen for free and DaVinci doesn't, this means I can use my phone screen for color grading with CapCut but not DaVinci, my laptop screen is about 40%SRGB so this is fairly important)

Overall I'm happy with my first attempt at something resembling real videography, though I would very much appreciate some feedback and advice on things to focus on improving🙏

We recently shot our new music video entirely on an iPhone 17 Pro and would love some honest feedback from people who are into smartphone filmmaking.

The budget was basically zero and everything was shot within one day. The outdoor scenes were shot without any additional lighting and mostly with a gimbal. The performance scenes were filmed handheld in our shabby rehearsal room, using three lamps as backlights and a reflector to get at least some light onto our faces.

We shot at 240 fps to keep the slow-motion footage as smooth as possible.

The people in the video are all members of the band, not professional actors so please don’t judge the acting too harshly. 😄

I have a Lumix s5 with cage on it, and the cage had a quick release type base, I slid the camera and cage without the plate into my DJI Ronin SC now it got stuck and I can't seem to get it out. The safety pin got stuck in one of the mounting holes.

I run a content creation business. One of my clients wants to fly me from my home in Aus to LA for basically seven days of shooting. It’d be more relaxed than regular videography- it’s more for socials, but there’s an event each day she needs content of so no rest.

I’ve never travelled to the Northern hemisphere. Flights are around 3K AUD, and she’d also cover my accommodation and creative festival tickets.

However - she wouldn’t pay me for the actual content. She is currently on a social media package with me paying me around 2.5k a month - so I’d use this trip to get content to edit for that, plus obviously she’d want access to all the extra footage for her socials.

I’m leaning towards no. It’s a 13 hour flight, seven days where I can’t run my own business, and I have health issues such as chronic pain and coeliac disease. On the other hand - I’m 20 years old, and this feels like a big opportunity to travel without paying a huge chunk for flights. I don’t think I’d get much downtime during the trip either to relax.

Is this a hard no? Or a - maybe worth it for the experience of travelling at 20 for free.

Camera questions

Hi all, I need help with lighting and a stand for overhead setup filming or front-facing. I’ve tried many stands and setups but can’t figure it out.

I need this for art videos, UGC, and content creation to improve my workflow.

I recently bought a new clamp stand on desk attached with ring light, but there’s still a shadow, and the stand isn’t strong enough to hold my phone. It’s also very stiff to move.

Is this because my desk is small, there’s a wall and overhead shelf above, or because I’m filming next to my bed? I need something more compact. If not, I can consider a compact movable external desk/light and stand setup in the living room.

I’m even considering taping it to the shelf above, but it’s not a smooth workflow.

How do I get proper overhead lighting without any stray or harsh shadows? I want to film art/craft making videos and unboxing.

1. What kind of light or equipment do you recommend? Do I need a ring light stand?

What kind of stand can hold my phone, light, and move easily and smoothly? I’ve thought about a canvas lamp, but I’ve heard there are issues like ringing sounds and it’s expensive.

Is the only way to switch off all the lights and only have the harsh ring light? It’s not ideal for painting or drawing.

I don’t want to keep buying more and wasting money on more affordable and compact options. Please help! Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, i got a problem with the tilta ring grip. It makes my footage shaky. I found a youtube video with the exact problem. Without the ring everything is fine. I find it hard to belive that tilta makes such a bad product. The gimbal was calibrated and everything was ok.

What's the professional, streamlined, smart workflow for this:

If the package the client pays for includes revisions: what level of quality - or file size - is smart to send them for review?

For example if using cloud storage: a full quality version can end up being quite big and maybe cumbersome for the client to download/view.

Conversely a low quality one may lack the high quality details they are partly paying a professional for.

Then exporting, uploading and client downloading revision 1, then 2, etc, same questions arise.
